  1. You can also go to My Controls, then click on email settings and you can check the email notification box. Then you can choose how often you want a notification on replys sent on that thread if you have replied or posted a topic. Might also check and make sure you have the correct email address in your profile as well? I'm sure Lilly can get it figured out for you!
  2. I say Illegal! I also think posting signs like they do at the San Juan in CO might help? Let people know that it is wrong to shuffle and the harm it does due to the rivers. Hard telling though, signs don't help stop everything as most of know fishing down at Taney, but it might give people a lit more understanding. I also say....... Post "convicted shufflers" pictures on billboards in area Fly shops, Outdoors stores and add a Wall of Shame to the parking lot at Taney! That will get everyones attention!
  3. Illegal
  4. Thanks for the link SKMO. I had lived in Springfield at that time, but never remembered ever hearing anything about it. Sounds pretty neat!
  5. I have never used this technique and was wondering how you tied them or how you set it up? Do you just tie up a dry fly farther up the line and then attach a nymph as if you were tying on two crappie jgs? Just wasn't sure how you tied the two together. Thanks for the help.
  6. Yes it is, being this past year was my second year.......I can say I am hooked. Same thing happened to me when I took up Fly-Fishing. Wife keeps asking what else can I take up? I say....."many more things Honey, many more things'!
  7. I have been receiving my email notifications of replies to topics lately. For the past week everything has been fine on my end?
  8. Tried checking out that link Brian, but said I had to connect to the service. Anyway of posting it again and seeing if that works? Where from springfield was the new cave located?
  9. Yeah, I think if you just add another section on for hunting it would sure take off. Just like Moose said as well, not sure if you want that on this forum, but highly believe it would take off. I know I would be joining in on it.
  10. Yeah, I can't wait to have the little one around. Hoping for a boy, but any healthy baby would be fine by me. I hope to get momma down to the farm sometime this spring or early summer. I would probably get in trouble though wanting to fish all the time and not spending enough time with her. Have to save my dad for that trip! Oh well, I will have to try out a few other nymphs to get them down before I head down that way though.
  11. Yeah, I am an Airline Dispatcher for Mesa here in Wichita. Think I might just have to make a layover happen sometime soon and take you up on the offer. Been a couple of months since I have been down there, so it's about time to make another trip!
  12. That's how I make mine as well. Think I need to go make some tonight! For those of you who haven't tried it, give it a shot, very good stuff!
  13. Like fishing in cold weather during the day, but night, think I would rather be in bed! Now Duck Hunting, that is a different story!
  14. Dano go to the airport in Harrison and get my airline flight out. I am in charge of that flight and I just finally had to cancel the flight! I see you guys got quite a bit of snow down that way. I wish I could be fishing right now! Best times on Taney have been during a snowstorm. Bring some of that snow to KS, we need it!
  15. Yes, many great lakes in KS for Hybrids. First I have never fished Perry, but have always heard good stories about it. Next I would have to say Milford would be your next best bet at catching a lunker wiper. I have caught quite a few out of milford and would say that is my favorite lake to fish. Lake Cheney just west of Wichita is another great hybrid lake. They have stripers as well and have large fish due to the explosion of white perch in the lake. Lake Wilson if you want to catch some big stripers. Not as good as Beaver, but for KS pretty good lake. I was lucky enough to catch my first Wiper at Milford 2 years ago and WOW, what a great time that was. Waiting for the time I catch one on my fly rod!
  16. As much as I like rockin, I will let nature do the rocking for us!
  17. Now that I would love to see. That would be absolutely hilarious, well until the fish went swimming away. I would hate to see what the trout would do though if you happen to pull out those amps to the river!
  18. I actually stopped into roaring river a couple of months ago for the first time. What was the need for the construction? Just wondered if something was getting old, or they just wanted to improve things for the fishermen and guests?
  19. I know when I used to fish the Niangua I only went to the bennett springs access just east of the highway bridge there. Nice water and quite a few riffles and always looked real fishy. Never did have much luck, other then a couple of rainbows. That was when I was first learning though, so I guess I can use that excuse. I am sure you experienced fly-fishers would have no problem pulling fish after fish out of there!
  20. I've always done well fishing copper johns as well. I always fish mine under an indicator. Not sure if that is the best way to fish them or not? Always seem to catch fish on them, so whatever works I guess! When you fish the pheasant tail do you cast them out and strip them back or do you use an indicator? I've tried fishing them both ways, but have never had any luck either way on them. I'm hoping to make it down to the river sometime this year, but only time will tell. Have a little one on the way (1st), so we have to wait and see what momma says! Thanks Again
  21. Out here in KS we catch the hybrids and whites quite often. I think they taste great. I know that we usually cut out the bloodline and I think they taste great. I hear if you don't cut that out, they can taste pretty fishy? I don't think they taste as good as a walleye or crappie, but we catch them quite often so when we do keep a few, I can't wait to eat them!
  22. Thanks for all the help as well. I have noticed the same with mine always starting to sink as well. I will make sure I try some of these nice tips you guys have provided. Thanks
  23. Nice pic Bum! I would have to agree, snow and wind have made for my best trout days. I went 3 years ago during a snow storm and I have never caught so many trout before. It was a day I will never forget. I was glad to get home and get into the hot shower though!
  24. Good for you fish! I used to live in Springfield and used to fish there, but never really had any luck. Caught a couple of sunfish, but actually that was about it. I used to mainly fish around the warm water inlet there. Always looked like a great spot anyway!
  25. Yeah, I think I will avoid the opening day rush. I can't even imagine, although I would like to experience it sometime. I can only imagine what it must be like in the trout parks opening day!
