I have caught a few Redhorse but not many. I am not even sure where to go looking for them. Wouldn't mind learning tho. I have never ate any of them. I have ate sucker from Taney and they are good. Never had a problem getting to many of them. Usually only catch one or two of them. I have heard they are really think up around the dam but a person would have to catch them on flies or hard plastic lures. I don't think that would be very productive. Useful site Terry. Still, they mention blue sucker but do not show a pic or tell anything about them.

I still want to know where all the 'gills and Redear are on TR and how to catch them.

Pickerel: Now there is a fish I have never caught in MO. I caught a few in KY and OH but have never even seen one in MO. Maybe the 11 pt should be made into a world class Pickerel river. Everyone in favor say YEAH!

Ahhh It ain't no problem lbt. Everyone understands SM and Superiority Complex seem to go hand in hand. SM seems to enjoy singling my posts out. Which he has a right to do but, like I said before I never mentioned Johnny Morris or Bass Pro. I made a general observation about over successful people to which he took exception. He says he is quoting me when he said 'Every successful person' when anyone can read the post and see what I said. I didnt want to start an argument. Anyone can read the posts and see SM is the one who is pugilistic. I was doing no more than BB and venting at what was done to Taney. SM decided to single me out about it thats all. I am through posting on this topic.

I have heard it mentioned that Taney has 3 different types of sucker. White, Yellow and Black. I am curious what the difference is in these. Also doesnt Taney have Red Horse in it? Where do they fit in?

There are some crawdads in TR that I swear are the size of small lobsters. Not sure how to go about catching them but I bet they would be fine eating once a person did.

SM sometimes you are a pain in the butt. You always read negative things into what others say but then, maybe I should have been more descriptive in my statement. My point is that when people become super successful, I am not talking about average successful people, the ULTRA successful tend to think of their selves as something better than average and that only they know the right thing to do in all situations and at all times. For example; most Hollywood Stars, Bill Gates, Jane Fonda, Donald Trump, OJ Simpson and so on. You have to admit these type of people think they are 'special'. The only real difference between them and "losers" (your word) is they have the bucks to get what they want be it illegal, immoral or just plain old eccentric. Do I think "losers" can be trusted? Obviously NO. Do I think the people in between those two groups, in other words average hard working people, can be more trusted to do the right thing? Yes I do. I did not personally attack Johnny Morris but since it was mentioned let me ask a question would you have felt justified in doing what he did to Taney just to put more bucks in your pocket? To this I will ask a couple of questions. Does doing the above give him the right to destroy Taney or does it just further his ego? What gives him the right to say which conservation issues should have money spent on them and which ones should be exploited just as long as he makes bucks?

The floods are good for the river. Flushes some of the junk out and gives a big influx of fresh highly oxygenated water.

If Rainbow aren't self sustaining in the river why would Browns be? Maybe it should be managed for SMB or some other natural fish.

Unfortunately when people become successful they quit thinking what is good for them is good for everyone and start believing it. At that point they run rough shod over everyone and everything in their path.

Went fishing today and it was kind of slow. Best color seemed to be white. didnt seem to be as many trout as normal but most of the few I did catch had some good size to them. For a bonus I caught one of the biggest sucker I have ever seen. I was using 2 lb line so it gave me quiet a tussle. I dont know what the fly fishermen were using but if you are a spin fisherman think light colors and remember smaller is better.

It irks me too. Those who have the bucks can get away with anything. Where are all the big Bluegill hanging out on the Rock? Or better yet big Redear?

Gut eater or not I would like to have caught it. For the purists out there maybe someone needs to design a liver imitating fly.

I dont canoe much anymore but I do have to deal with the trash left by others. Most of the trash I see piled up is plastic products. There are actually very few glass jars anymore. Beer bottles is about the only thing I can think of in any quantity. Most of the people I see canoing would probably be money ahead if they just strapped in a keg. They aren't glass.

Cut the line. I wouldn't get my hand near the teeth one of them things have. Never tried a steel leader so I couldn't tell you.

We ought to get a head count pretty soon to see who all is going to be there.

Stepping on a broken bottle would be no fun for sure. But then, stepping on the jagged edge of an aluminum can is no picnic either. It just seems to me that a law against a specific container material is silly. Law enforcement has enough on their hands dealing with all the rowdies out there and should not be unnecessarily burdened with having to check people to see if they have a glass bait container or glass cigar tube. Seems to me that it would be more productive to enforce the no littering laws and if people would help clean up a little along the way the problem could be easily solved. Then law enforcement could get on to dealing with lesser crimes like illegal drug use, public drunkenness, public sex acts, using the river for a privy ect ect.
