  1. that is as good as it gets!!! bo
  2. those are some dandies! when the wind is howling like it was, it sometimes just forces you to go chunk and wind fishing. darn good job of figuring out a bite of some kind. bo
  3. shhhh! no one is supposed to know that. bo
  4. those bass are pretty much like us and like to eat. that is how we get too fat, eating too much. bo
  5. just keep catching them and having fun. i enjoy our posts and you are doing nearly the same thing that i do daytime fishing this time of the year. you know what? 4 lb. bass all look about the same as they have as long as i have been fishing. so, pics probably do not mean too much to either of us.. bo
  6. when you are busy catching bass, you're just too busy to take pics. got to keep those type of bass fired up and that means getting right back in there not 5 minutes later. got to factor the time it takes to get the boat back to where the bass were. for me, I would rather catch bass than take pics. bo
  7. I was wondering why I was getting so many phone calls about what the bass are doing. need to be like a doctor and start charging them for info. champ, I did not shew any of them up the river either. just let them all sit on tip of each other. then I have a guy coming down to have me tour him around a couple of days before the cut off for the costa tournament next month. things will have sure changed by that time from what they are now. it will be a busy lake this weekend to say the least. bo
  8. pretty darn good for daytime fishing right now. last night it sounded like a war zone out in the lake, and i believe that what few are on or around the bottom at night are back out in the middle suspended during the day. bo
  9. yep, that is what it looks like when you find them. just takes some looking, and it will get better as the water cools. fun fishing isn't it? bo
  10. i can not remember fishing a night without pretty good wind blowing for two months. it sure makes it a work out controlling the boat while fishing. most of the time, unless there is a shallow bite going on some type of moving bait, you are holding the boat at an odd angle and fishing in a twisted turned around backwards position, and it is getting harder to do with each passing year. caught too numerous to count short brownies, and you would get multiples in one small spot and nothing else around. we did manage 7 keeper that did include on 4 lb. largemouth. jtried a whole host of different weights of jigs and spinner baits, and the winner was a 3/4 GrassJig. that extra speed was triggering way more bites. water temp was showing 74, and most of our bites came in the twenty foot range. we did cover quite a bit of water up shallow with spinner baits trying to find a shallow bite that would allow you to fish with the wind, but never did find it. do not know how much rain different areas go, but kind of looked as though there may be some more color coming down the kings. and, we did see two other boats (idiots) out fishing last night. can not believe anyone would be crazy enough to be out last night. bo

  12. the a- rig is far from a reaction bite. there are videos where a camera has been mounted on the line and bass follow that rig a long time before finally deciding to bite. also, that rig is normally fished at a very slow pace. so, when a bass follows any lure for 20 to 50 ft., that is hardly a reaction bite. and the debate still goes one. bottom line, fish with what got you there right? bo
  13. given that you both use the same weight head, that may or may not be true depending on what the bass are wanting in fall rate and action from the lure. your line type and diameter directly affects sink rate and action. bo
  14. I am not for sure, but I think loren hill actually was the inventor of the color selector. now, o'son and billy boy dance both hawked them, and that alone makes it more identifiable to both of them. a friend of mine had one, and once in a while, the darn thing was right on. but, did it prove that the machine was correct or that fishing the correct depth and speed a bass can e triggered into biting?? and, so goes the big debate. bo
  15. it was still not too bad of a day considering the water conditions and so many bass in limbo. bo
  16. yep bill, i am sure that he most likely is not traveling far. if it was mot for having to work during the day, i would also be staying those midnight to daylight hours. table rock bass have really become pressure oriented, meaning that they stay somewhat dormant until the lake really settles down. of course, i am talking about the quality bass this gentleman is catching. even before the fish kill, on the all nighters out of mill creek, we would catch all of out big bass from 2am until daylight or just past. clear lakes are all the same. big bass are quite nocturnal, especially until the water temps get down to 50 and under. night fishing on bull shoals in december can be insane. the water temps will often be in the mid to upper fifties and the big bass are up fairly shallow and eating at night. bo
  17. champ i truly believe that is what is going on. and there was lots of busting going on out in the middle last night also. the shad were not everywhere, but when you found an area with them, there were plenty of them most of them were 5 to 10 ft. deep, but most of the bites were more 15 to 20'. the bass were really bunched up also. i would catch multiples in one small area, and nothing either way. until the water cools, and we are having these very warm days, most of the bass during the day are suspended out over the channel or in near proximity of the shad. bo
  18. short report of recent fishing. got out a couple of evening and nights last week. on monday evening last week caught three keepers on a spoon. they were about 17' deep. after dark produced very few bites. fished a different area on wednesday night. wind was howling ended up with six keepers. the only pattern was the bite was at 20 to 25'. last night was better despite the wind velocity. caught most of the bass in areas out of the wind on a 1 oz. SpinJig. finished up on a bluff the wind was blowing straight into and caught two 4lb. lmgs, and 4 keeper brownies in a 25 yd. stretch. ended up with a dozen or so keeps. most were brownies except the two 4's and one other chunk lmg. the bass on the bluff all came on a 1/2 GrassJig with a bluegill skirt. water temp warmed back up. was showing right around 73. bo
  19. yep, that is a whopper. there are some real whoppers in table rock, and i guess we may not have that many walleye chasers on table rock. it will not be long that they gang up in the mouth of the kings river. one year early winter i caught one that weighed 14lb. 5oz., and that same time frame we caught several 5 to 7lb. ones in that same area while bass fishing. there were many of the same looking markings further out suspended. hand landing a 14lb. walleye is quite a challenge too, i might add. bo
  20. i have to laugh champ. over the years, i have told exactly what we did and they never believe that was what we did. with fisherman, i have learned over the years, they will not believe what you tell them unless it is what they are wanting to hear. most are not going to be able to replicate what you did anyway. bo
  21. in a way, it actually is. i can take someone that knows not one thing about fishing, and have them catching bass on a spoon in a short amount of time. notice that i stated not knowing one thing. i say this because those that already have some pre-conceived notion about fishing a spoon are much harder to teach. bo
  22. fishing a spoon is actually the easy part. learning to find bass is the hard part. got to spend time learning what your electronics is telling you. knowing your seasonal patterns will also help in cutting down you looking time. fishing a spoon requires learning how to keep a belly in your line as the spoon falls. this allows the spoon to fall unimpeded but you are still in contact with it and will be able to feel or see the strike. bo
  23. they sure were not as easy to come by as they had been. hey the wind is blowing very well today. it is a champ type of day for sure. why are you not fishing? I am working at getting orders filled, and I was actually thinking of you with the wind blowing like it is. most definitely the type of day to find some up shallow some place. bo
  24. went to the lower end last night and it was certainly a hunt and peck adventure. just caught one or two here and one or two there. caught a few out directly in the hurricane and a few in areas protected from the wind. most bites came on a bit flatter terrain. the 15 to 25 ft. range still seemed to produce more, but did catch a few up in 8 to 10 ft. of water. the SpinJig did produce a few bites and they were of better quality also. we ended up with 8 keepers, and leonard had 4 in the 3 lb. range, 3 brownies and 1 kentucky. we did not catch one lmg. water temp was 76. we really did not find any area that had lots of bait. so obviously, need to do a bit more searching to figure out where the bait has migrated to. still saw a line of stuff out in the lake at 35 ft. i did search some areas to see if anything came in contact with the bottom at 35, but never did find anything. i would expect a pretty good bite coming on with the moon. time to do some snooping around during the day also. bo
  25. great job! yep, it is about to get into some prime fishing, and it can be pretty simple lure selection wise. it just takes a bit of time in the searching mode to hit pay dirt. bo
