Waded around Powersite yesterday trying to catch some Walleye.Crappie,or Trout.Didn't catch anything but a few scrany bass. Was throwing a leadeye with my fly rod when I snagged some braided line, pulled in about 30 yds of line and found one of those big swim baits attached in perfect condition. As I walked the bank south I found 3 stickbaits and another half of a swim bait. 4 of the 5 found are in good shape after I cleaned the moss off.So I guess I payed for my gas down there.

Taxi, good looking mount.

The Forsyth Bass club released some walleye into Taney about 10-15 years ago, wallys they had caught while bass fishing Bull. And even before that my nephew seen Wallys up in Bullcreek while gigging right in the dead of winter. I think there has always been a small population in there around the Bullcreek area and lower end.

Looks like 1:00 to 1:30 PM is a good time to be there. If you need any help this spring thining those big gobblers out just let me know!!!

Gonefishin, good to see ya back on here. Hope you get some info so you can catch one them run away freight trains.Everyone needs to catch at least one of decent size in their life. Beaver Fever guide service sometimes has some really good deals this time of year.

Chief, Slider just sent me a PM,said he found them at Jans netcrafts website,so I guess they do make them. I would rather just buy the 3/32 jig heads already made but can't find any shops that sell them. You poured almost 200 heads Chief, that should last a while.
-
Now all I can think about is ham and beans, cornbread with some fried taters and onions, umm good. Chief, I have been trying to find a mold that has 3/32 ounce or a place just to buy the heads. Does your mold have 3/32 ?

Mo-bow,my bro-in-law and me were down yesterday in his boat.We figured the dam would be really crowded and it had been awhile since we had done any spin fishing. We went all the way to lookout and slowly fished back. The fishing was just the opposite of what we expected,we did much better from Fall creek down to Lilleys than in the trophy area.We ended up with 42 nice rainbows and 3 browns. All on jigs right in the middle of the channel. I hadn't caught a Brown in a long time, so I guess there's a few in there. Tippet, great day,I had one like that a couple of weeks ago.

Very classy response Michael. 2 thumbs up!!

Sam, if you have 50+ spots on upper Bull then I think you should donate a few more to some of us deprived forum members, feel free to PM me. That flat and the one below Snap have eaten more lower units and props when the water is a little low than any others. I did see a pontoon run up on that mud flat there at Woodard park once. They all had to get out push and pull for about an hour.

Fish Habitat Below Table Rock Dam On Lake Taneycomo
Tightline replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Boulders are exactly what you will need, anything less than a 3-4 ft rock will wash right on down.I work with rock every day,and have spent all summer trying to repair what the rains of 08 have destroyed. We would try to repair with smaller shot rock only to have the next rain wash it away. If they used huge boulders say 4-6 ft tall ,boaters could see the wash and boil in high water with no problem.Plus the wash around these huge boulders would create alot of Oxygen in low water. The only problem is where can we drive in a huge Track Hoe? -
There has always been something about upper Bull that makes people not want to give out any info about fishing, and I will have to say that I'm guilty to.I will give up info about the James,Stockton or Truman without regret, but I am alot more cautious at CERTAIN times of the year when it comes to upper Bull. Most of my family lives in Forsyth. My brother lives within walking distance of the Pothole, and in late winter and spring he's down there prowling the banks about every day, and even tho he is my brother, its like pulling teeth to get him to tell me whats going on at Swan or the Pothole. As far as how much information to give in your reports, its everyones right to post what they want, just be careful and don't get burnt.

Yeah Wayne if that big tank isn't damaged I may know someone who will get rid of it.Probably had herbicides or some other highly toxic stuff in it though. Your right, the water did seem high for 653.

Went down to see my brother at Forsyth and decided to drive through the River Run side up to the dam.I couldn't believe the amount of trash every where. It looks like the trees acted as a filter during the high water and caught a lttle bit of everything. The most noticable things were the big pieces of styrofoam. If any of you archery guys need some targets, here's your chance. Any of you guys on Taney loose a gallon of boat motor oil? There was one guy working, pushing the dirt off of the loading ramp parking lot.

Had the same problem last week. After I would log on for 3rd time it wouldn't kick me off.Haven't had any troubles this week.

Me And Babler Are Headed To Loz For Some Crappie!
Tightline replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
Another good,Phil and Bill show, nice crappies! 15 inchers, now thats a meat haul! -
Your probably right about the wind Dutch, but sometimes you got to go when you can go and in certain areas there was pretty good wave wash on the points and flats.I just wish we would have tried the crappie earlier! Thanks for your input.

We headed for Stockton at 5:30 this mourning in hopes of catching some whites and maybe lucking into some wallys. We put in at Roark and went up stream, fished all the usual white bass flats and points which took almost all morning and caught 3.I have struggled the last 2 years to find the big schools of whites up there,I know they are there, somewhere. I can say one thing, the bass fishing is going to great in the years to come,we caught lots of bass ,3 keepers, all on maribou jigs and in line spinners.Maybe if we had tied on some big spinner baits or huge crank baits we would have caught more whites. My brother-in-law kept an 17 incher,it had one eye completely covered in fungus and it had started on the other,it would have surely died. We were about to leave when we decided to fish one of those marked brush piles (which I have never had any luck on). First cast,a 13 inch crappie. We caught 20 crappie with 11 of those being real nice 10 to 13 inch keepers. Made my wife happy, she eats crappie fillets like they are potato chips. We used white jigs, gray jigs, black and chartreuse tube jigs,1/8 and 1/16. Not a great day but a decent one,it was good to be out even if it was a little chilly.

Fishing Report For Tuesday Late Afternoon Till Dark
Tightline replied to duckydoty's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Your sure right about the midges DD,when I left 4:30 if you tried to breath with your mouth open you'd have a dozen midges in it.I was there most of the day and ended up with 40.I caught em on ginger and olive woolies, a black leech and a white slumpbuster. The slumpbuster seemed to catch better quality, but still no biguns. I took a picture of a small hole of water that was full of scuds, sowbugs and worms.I had to cut the picture way down so you could see them better,it was just amazing to me how much fish food there was in that little puddle. Had a good time. Thanks for your report DD. -
It was my first time to fish C & R season ,had a great time, caught a bunch of fish, just no big ones. Had 1 rainbow that was 21 inchs and the rest were all 12-14. Funny thing was I walked through before the horn and scouted the upper half and didn't see very many big fish at all.But as I fished from south to north they started showing up. The rain came hard at about 11:00, ran to my truck to get my rain suit, fished another hour and left. Met and talked to alot of very nice fisherman, seen Tim,and also a truck with RDP rods on the back, which must have been Murdocs. Had fun, can't wait to go back!!

The fish I caught at the dam friday were all in good shape and fought hard.I wouldn't say Taney is in bad shape, its just not fishing like we are use to. Above the rebar there doesn't seem to be as many fish as usual and far less big fish than usual to me. The high water this year created some fantastic fishing from a boat,by far my best year drifting.I think Taney has faired better than most in this very strange year. The USGS Real Time water data at the School of the Ozarks shows the dissolved oxygen has jumped up to about 7 ppm along with a jump in microisms per cubic cent since last friday. Maybe it will start getting back to normal.

Those look like Pigeons to me,mainly because of the knot on their beaks. But Collared Doves may have that also.
-
Nice bird ! Between you and Makayla that makes 4 this year.Turkeys must fear you guys.
-
They probably got tired of all this running water and headed out. I think they like to wade also.

Well you know how many stories I've told about flinging arrows at turkeys down through the years and that I consider bagging a turkey with a bow one of the hardest feats of any kind of sport hunting. Now I know 2 people that have bagged turkeys with a bow this year, you and my son. Pic turned out pretty good too. Way to go!!
