  1. I meant to add, that is the fishiest looking spot (with the tree in the water )on the whole creek and I never even get a bite!!
  2. Went to the same creek. Go there at 11:30 a.m. and there were bright skies. Tried the Zman TRD Crawz in Green Pumpkin on a 1/15 head.. Caught 2 smallmouth and snagged a sucker. Worked down to a confluence and switched to some carrot shaped 4in worm I bought at a flea market in Van Buren. I think they are homemade. Also in green on a stand-up head. (I was tired of hanging up and losing the Zman rigs.) Caught a small smallmouth and a about a 14 inch walleye of all things. On the very next cast I felt something literally chewing on the bait and set the hook into a 4 ft gar! It jumped and rolled and but through my 4# Invizx like nothing. I took that as a sign from the fishing gods to go back to the car. This is where I hooked the gar. I'm actually really glad I didn't land it. I had no pliers or anything to get the hook out.
  3. Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Based on your pictures, they work quite well.
  4. Tell us more about these $30 rods....🤔
  5. So sorry to hear this. Please let his family to know that they are on our minds.
  6. Great advice guys. I have a lot of mono around. It will give me some knot practice, too.
  7. There's been several thread extolling the virtues of braided line on spinning reels. I bought 300 yards 10# Spider Wire at Walmart. I have a 2000-series reel I want to load in and I plan on about a 6-8 ft section of 8# fluorocarbon as a leader. I'm sure the reel will hold all the braid if I want it to, but my question is, do I want it to? At first I thought I could put 100 yards on and if I like, do they same on a couple other smaller reels, but then I thought, that might not be enough to make the reel function at it's best. I don't want tight coils. Also, the spool is "braid ready". There's a crosshatched section in the middle of the spool. Am I tying on there with a standard arbor know? So many questions.... This is why I avoid change. Thanks
  8. other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?
  9. Flysmallie, you've probably been there. I think it's in your neck of the woods.
  10. Went to a small creak in the Springfield Metro. Got there about 2:30 and got a mixed bag. Several smallies, a goggle eye, and, the first time in 40+ years of fishing, a sucker. Lost a couple smallmouth in the 12-13 inch range. Had trouble getting the hook buried, which is odd because those Zman shroom heads are sharp! All on 1/15 oz green head with a green pumpkin Zman ned.
  11. Long time lurker, first time poster. Thoughts and prayers to Bo. He's always been a great sharer of information. And @3DHUSKER, the vaccine doesn't keep you from getting it, it keeps you from being hospitalized or worse with a severe case. It also helps keep it from being spread since your viral load is so low (thus you are asymptomatic) so you don't spread it as virulently. That's not political, that's just basic medicine.
