  1. If you live in the St. Louis area these folks are great: web site tri state trolling motor repair hazelwood mo.
  2. Great report. sounds like the fishing was awesome.
  3. Phil, it is a good video and for someone not familiar with the technique it would be very helpful. The sound was pretty good and it was probably a little more difficult without someone working a camera. Keep this up and look out TV fishing shows Cap'n Phil is on the air.
  4. Finally a fishing report. Sounds like a good day.
  5. the fishing reports on here??????????????
  6. bigredbirdfan said: Doubtful. Politics affect everything. Just look at Europe for Fish and Game regs and gun control (which we will continue to discuss I hope). Adios That is a big issue with this election plus his stand on abortion and taxes. I hope and pray for our country's sake that his administration is successful. However, the only thing that will really change is our American culture.
  7. This is not about MDC buying more land with the sales tax. This is about infringing on the right of land owners to use thier property as they see fit without having to pay for the priveledge of doing so. All of these outdoor boards are buzzing on this one. I live and hunt on 25 acres and use the free tags. Didn't even mind when they said you had to go to the store to pick them up. When I hunt off my land I buy tags and have no problem doing so but on my land I should not have to pay to hunt. To send an electronic comment to MDC go to this link.MDC comment page If you want to read an exhausive thread about this go over to MWT and look at this one MWT landowner fee thread
  8. I think there is a public ramp on the east side of the lake just down from Fall Creek. It used to be a shallow ramp when they aren't running water. Cooper is a very good ramp and parking lot.

There is an even better place on the service road east of 65 at the Warsaw exit. It is called the smoke shack. Chuck wagon is good but I like the shack better.
  10. I have fished Taney for many years and drifting with multiple rods is not easy even if you have holders. If you get hung up a rod will go over the side so fast you won't see it. Also, it is hard to fish with more than one, keep the boat right with the current and catch the lite bite.
  11. Phil, what happened to the fall creek dock? I had not heard there was a problem with it.
  12. Ditto on that one. The new lake cam is a lot better than the old one. Just watched some folks load and leave in the pontoon. Sure wish I was there.
  13. Phil, congrats on getting the license. I know you worked hard to get it. The porker trout better beware there is a new sheriff on the water.
  14. Phil, those are a couple of real porkers. The fish must really be getting a lot to eat in this high water.
  15. skeeter, I believe you have the facts laid out very well. When I was a kid we all read Carson's column and if he said use this product we all did. I too saw him at the old boat show. I remeber when Bill took over and I have met him on a couple of occasions at NWTF banquets. Haven't heard much about him in the last few years. those were the good old days of fishing and low tech information. There were no fourms to read. This post brings back a lot of good memories of those days.
  16. Carson wrote an outdoor column and appeared on local fishing shows. I believe he has been dead for years.
  17. Headed down to Truman week after next and wanted to get some thoughts on what the fishing would be like from some of the regulars. I usually make one trip a year so I don't know it that well but usually catch some whites and crappie. Any tips you all have would be appreciated.
  18. I was scheduled to be a co angler for last year's tournament on BS before it got cancelled. I didn't bother to apply this time. Wouldn't mind doing it sometime, great learning experience.
  19. We fly fish a lot from the boat, Tracker, and mostly use micro jigs under a small float at 5 or 6 ft when down lake. We get all our flies at Lilley's and they always have the right colors. Have put a midge or scud dropper on the jig and done well too.
  20. We have stayed at Lilley's for years. Nothing else on the lake is as good in my book.
  21. Phil, I agree completely. Taney is just fine the way it is. If someone wants to fish for those other species they can go to a lake or river that has them. There is enough diversity in Taney if you really want to fish for other fish.
  22. Phil, is the fall creek dock gone?
  23. Phil, didn't know you were there. We went also. What a shellacking.
  24. Try Taneycomo Lakefront Resort. Not as nice as Lilley's but will put you down the lake. We would rather stay at Lilley's and run the boat down.
  25. quote name='lilley' date='May 15 2008, 09:09 AM' post='69509'] Leonard- your fly's name doesn't make much sense... Phil, he prolly named it that way meaning he can catchem while sleeping its such a good fly.
