  2. Great story Al....I'm jealous.
  3. Call Lilley's and stay in one of their less expensive rooms. You'll never regret neither will your mom.
  4. I fly fish and release a lot of fish but most always take a limit home for the frying pan. I wouldn't buy one but if there are those that are interested why not. They'll fish more probably and leave plenty of fish for others.
  5. Phil, if you are looking for a great restaurant in Denver try the Buckhorn exchange and order the char grilled Bison prime rib. Great collection of mounts to see and history. I think they probably have a website.
  6. Bojack, thanks for the info. PM me the details of your brothers rv and location. I have looked at a lot of them and it can make you dizzy (actually started that way). Appreciate all the input guys.
  7. Phil, if you get a chance try the Big Thompson River. Its the river that runs along the road on the way in to Estes from Loveland.
  8. Dutch, looking for a bumper hitch type. No 5th wheel or popup. Tow vehicle is a Z71 chevy with a 350.
  9. We are thinking about getting an rv travel trailer. Never had one and wanted to see what some of you may know about them. What to watch out for, size to buy, features, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. Last year a buddy of mine was catfishing with hotdogs on a private pond. He set his rod on the dock and started throwing another one. Zoom his rod took off and went in the lake. While fishing around the lake later he had a hit and started cranking. When he landed the fish it was still on his other rod and he got them both.
  11. Why don't you give Lilleys Landing a call. They own this forum and the link is at the bottom of the main page. Great place to stay.
  12. Putting in at MDC by the dam depends on what the water is doing. There are a lot of shoals between there and short creek. The MDC ramp at Cooper Creek off Fall Creek Road is much better and you can motor up as long as some water is running. Watch all the creek mouths for gravel shoals that extend way in to the lake. Most of your other questions are answered already on the current threads.
  13. Headed down to Lilley's tomorrow for four days of fishing. We fish mostly from a boat so what is the hot jig or bait and what can we expect from a generation standpoint. Any advice would be appreciated.
  14. Boat ramps can be especially irritating with some of the idiots that are on them. The way we load is my backer puts the trailer in, jumps out of the truck to hook the winch and then drives up on the lot out of the way to secure the boat. I don't even get out of the boat. It usually takes us less than two minutes and we have had a lot of people comment how efficient we are and thanked us for letting them load so fast. Its not rocket science folks....its just kind of the courtesies my folks imparted when we were growing up.
  15. Lilley, Al's show is usually pretty good and they fish for everything. I know some Minnesota folks who know him and they say he is a good christian guy. To bad he sold out of In Fisherman, it has never been the same.
  16. Thanks Seth. I will post up how we do.
  17. Thanks Split Shot. How is the snagging in that area?
  18. How do you get there from TR dam and is there a boat ramp there?
  19. AK, I looked it up and that is for residents only. I'll be there in a couple weeks and I can tell you that it is worth the price of the tags. The fishing is great this time of year. You and your dad will have a great time. Stop in at Lilley's if you aren't staying there.
  20. I think Lilley's sells the daily tags. Also I don't think you need a license if you are over 65, anyone know about that one.
  21. Where is McCords from the bridgeport launch?
  22. It will be interesting to see what you find out on your crappie exploration.
  23. We'll be on Taney in a couple weeks and wanted to try for some of those famous crappie I have read on here about. Where is the best spot and bait to use for them? Any info would be appreciated.
  24. I have fished in Missouri for more than 50 years and have met many a conservation agent in the field. I have never had anything but a good experience with all of them. Last summer during a group campout at a CA an agent showed up. We had people fishing and squirrel hunting and he was very professional in doing his job. He came back at night when we were having a big campfire and cookout and stayed about an hour anwering questions. We all felt good about how he handled things with a pretty good size group. However, we also had all the permits for the group camp and had trash bags hanging all over the place. This is a sportsmans group and we all know what the right this is to do. My .02 worth on this one.
  25. I would agree with 10pointer on the small jigs of various colors. I would add that light line, 2lb, was also helpful as the water was pretty clear. We fished the first two days and did well but not 75 a day. 10p you be the trout master.
