  1. JJ, the guy is a troll and nothing more.
  2. I voted for Taney because it is my favorite and I fish there every chance I get. I also go to Mark Twain and Truman about the same but trout fishing is my first pick and that's Taney.
  3. polock, you must be a real polock because you are the only person on this site who posts things like a moron. Get a life.
  4. When there are wounded shad on the surface we like to put them on a bare hook and cast into the current, maybe with a small split shot. It is a deadly combination....only below fall creek though.
  5. No hp limit on upper Taney. You can't use bait above fall creek. Better get to know the regs there or you will get in trouble.
  6. Phil, I will certainly help if I can. I fish Mark Twain and Truman some and could report on that.
  7. Ours went out Sunday and just came on an hour ago in Warren county. We have a good wood stove and kerosene heaters to stay there but no water with the well. We had some 5gal water bottles to get by. Mom had a big tree limb come through the roof into the guest bedroom and stop just over the bed. No one hurt with that one.
  8. You could also stay in Steelville. Not far from the park. Has motels and some good eating spots.
  9. Any shad coming through yet?
  10. That is a neat video. Lot's of water for sure.
  11. Leonard, how do you walk around when it is dark? I have a hard enough time navigating the rocks on the bottom in the daytime.
  12. Have you been seeing any shad coming through? What is the best time for the shad to come down. We'll be there in March this year and looking forward to some good jig fishing.
  13. Phil probably has them in is shop.
  14. The cabins in the park are better than Reeds which is C- at best. The hot tub cabins are great and have good amenities.
  15. McM, when were you in and where did you serve. I was in subs and gunboats on the Mekong in the 60's.
  16. Take a look at this My Webpage
  17. Phil, we flyfish Montauk several times per year. There are some great places above the dam to fish. If you go in past the park office and walk about 1/2 mile to the stream there is hardly anyone there in summer and no one in winter. Use the white Montauk nymph they are killers.
  18. I visit a number of these boards and this one has more about fishing. Many of the others have been dominated by deer and duck hunters and some of the responses to posts is harsh. That is fun sometimes but I also like to read about what is going on at Taney. I get to visit there about ten days a year so what I read fills in the gaps. Keep up the good work Phil. The only constructive comment on this forum is that it is very broad and a lot of the areas don't get much activity.
  19. Thanks Phil. We have been blessed by having this fishery and enjoying it is one of my passions. I don't think its broke so it does not need anymore fixing. I can however, appreciate and respect how the others feel and this is the internet so fantasy fishing dreams are fine. I hope I can make one more trip this year but it is not looking good at this point.
  20. Phil, you know the problems with your #3 and there are many. The biggest one in my book is mortality for bait caught fish released in the slot. Another one would affect your guest taking legal fish below cooper but in the slot and traveling back to your resort by boat. When they cross that line they have to be illegal or how do you prove they didn't catch them in the restricted zone. Taney has to be a lot of things to a lot of people. Serious trout fly fishermen all the way to cheese chuckers. The serious guys will never be fully satisfied and the cheese boys want the limit to be higher than 5. I love Taney for all that it is to me and everyone and am just happy to have such a great all round fishery in our state. The debate on all of this is interesting and the opinions diverse....however, there is no easy solution.
  21. January 2, 2008
  22. Its the Missouri Trout Fishing Association and they had their annual tournament. You get prizes for catching tagged fish same as in the Holland tourney. I am headed there Friday for the weekend so any advice would be helpful on flies, jigs and tippets. Wanted to come to Taney but Lilley's is full. Maybe next time.
  23. I must be going blind because I don't see the link anymore. Please help a worm drowner out.
  24. Phil, what ever happened to the trout and lake cams? I hope the loss is only temporary because they sure were neat for those of us who can only get there a couple times a year.
  25. Which room were you in and for how many days?
