  1. Thanks Brian! I will be giving you a call......look forward to the trip....met you in early April when you did a shuttle for Chris Conan with the drift boat and the one man canoe. The main thing about the trip before the fishing is to help a person and family in need.
  2. Randall: Great water isn't it! I fished it for the first time in March & April with great results, lucky I had a friend with a drift boat which makes the fishing even better. I had real good luck with a Red butt Soft Hackle as the dropper. Might try shorting the dropper to cut down on the number of foul hooks, has worked for me in the past
  3. $350..........................Why Not?
  4. $300.................Just don't tell my wife
  5. Just a few days before this terrible incident two young men around 21, I think, drowned in the Meramec near the Caverns, gee how many people have drowned in this general area over the years......not a good start to the summer especially with all the rivers running higher than normal.....My prayers to all the families dealing with their losses, and the others involved.
  6. Frog Water: used by a friend to describe long stretches of slow moving waters while fishing the Eleven Point River Monday...
  7. July 4, 2009 I can use the money for a fishing trip
  8. I have noticed as of late the report on Bull Shoals & Norfork is really old with very limited updates. Called tonight at 1020pm and the report was from 0600hrs. Sure wouldn't want to depend on it................
  9. am Don't tighten down to hard on the 6/0 or you will be buying more foam, will cut foam like a razor blade...............
  10. Gee Chris don't be so stingy with wanting all the BIG fish, you still have a lot of years left, leave some for us OLDER guys Chris hooked up with the fish right up against the limestone rock ledge at the Falls and I would estimate brought to net about 120-130 yards +/-. and don't tell Chris but he does have a lot of angling skills, good teacher on reading the waters and skilled on the oars of a drift boat..........OK Chris send me the twenty $ for the advertisement
  11. My daughter said you can also find them at Walgreens............
  12. Well we fished the North Fork of the White on Sun, Mon, & Tues. with my friend using the TMB's. I thought that was the weirdest thing I have seen yet for fishing.......Well I broke off in the rocks, and he handed his extra rod to me with the TMB attached, I thought to myself "This is not going to work for me". Well as many of you have said already it was very sensitive to the bite, cast well, hit the water without a wake being made. floated high and dry, and no problem with it sliding but we were using 2X leaders. We used the 3/4" with two weighted #4 Stone Flies, a beaded Soft Hackle and two A shots and it stayed right up on top of the water .......I have to say I ran out and bought both sizes today. Like the idea with the bands, maybe my granddaughter will have a few around for the old guy!
  13. I was with Chris when he hooked Mr. Brown and we chased it down river about 100 yards after the hook-up, rod bent all the way to the cork. I happened to be standing next to the boat when he went running down the river in waist high water. I grabbed the boat net and was right behind him , finely Mr Brown came close to the long handle net, fish came head first, splash, net up, fish in and safe. lots of cheering and high fives. After a quick measure, some pictures Mr. Brown was released in sound shape for someone else to have the same thrill somewhere down the line. As Mr. Brown made his way back up river the three of us toasted him with three bottles of Goose Head beer. We did fine one Stone Fly in the boat and its color and length was the same as our fly, Also used a Soft Hackle as a trailer with both flies catching about the same numbers of fish which = lots of fish for the three days.
  14. Terry: What lens filter did you use
  15. I just got off the Old Faithful web cam site and she is still sending steam skyward for a fairly large crowd at -11 degrees
  16. IF I remember correctly the CAFO Bill which was passed by Missouri lawmakers exempt CAFO's from any legal liabilities for "accidental" releases from waste holding ponds, contamination of water ways, legal actions from area residents concerning odor complaints etc. Makes it illegal for communities to pass local ordinances concerning CAFO operations, etc. Why should the state step in and deny the right for communities to govern themselves?
  17. I bought a pair of Smith sun glasses and love them, I to use to wear Fit Overs and with the Smith I have noticed an increase ability to spot fish and I wear them all the time. I was able to get bifocals in the lenses, limited number of frames for RX with the bifocal, only problem is they do not have the no-line bifocal which I normally wear, it took a little to get use to the regular type bifocal. I also had some locals recommend C-Sport Optical as mentioned by Phil.
  18. I could be mistaken (not the first time) but I think the majority of the mud comes into play where the Missouri River dumps into the Mississippi............
  19. Bredman: There you go with the art of Fly Fishing, in a very short period of time you already have three boxes full of flies ......The list will continue to grow as you grow in the sport. Heck 10 rods, 6 reels and an assortment of trinkets later you will be heading west, then dream of a trip to one of the mecca's of Fly Fishing. Good Luck and may you rip many lips. I too can meet for a fishing trip any time you wish....I know No Luck is always up for a trip..............
  20. If I'm not mistaken I think there are regulations which make guiding in the State Trout Parks illegal........... But it sure wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. My wife tells me this all the time.................
  21. Sorry: The above should be to BredMan not Bman
  22. Bman: I would think you would want to include some Cracklebacks with various body colors, Elk Hair Caddis, Griffith, San Juan Worms seem to be back in vogue on numerous waters in Missouri & Arkansas. Take a look at this web site under Fly Patterns which show a lot of other options that are successful on the tailwaters of the White River system, Click on this........... http://taneycomotrout.com Tight Lines
  23. 9ft 5 wt. T. Hargrove Fly Shop
  24. Bman: Got my pair around June and love them. I wear progressive lens for my regular glasses but unless things have changed you have a get the line bi-focal. It was an adjustment at first, especially wading, now wear them all the time whether fishing driving or whatever. Best purchase I ever made
  25. I was on the October shocking trip from the park boundary to TanVat. The left and right pelvic fins and the andipose fin represents the year the fish was stocked. Don't remember the exact year but for example the right was from 2005 left 2006 and the andipose 2008. They would measure length of each trout, species and which fin clipped. Very interesting day.
