  1. John: I would like to Thank You and all the others who took the time to teach this great sport and help these vets deal with and over come any issues I'm sure they have from serving their country. I also served my country in Viet-Nam and I say to you my friend........WELCOME HOME!
  2. Jerod: I sure would appreciate a quick note on how things work out on the dropper set up. Now the Sculpin this guy was using was not the heavy type with the bar-bell eyes so it would seem to have a little more movement in the water vs. a heavy streamer type. I also like dropper except when I miss the strike on the top fly and end up with a fouled fish on the trailer. Probably have them to close to each other. Tight Lines Larry
  3. VanVen: Not long ago I was fishing with a person who told me to use the Sculpin as the trail fly (#2) and scud/whatever (#1) as the lead which makes the sculpin look to be chasing the scud/whatever. Seemed to be working real well for him
  4. A group of us fished Taney on Saturday and my brother was telling me about the 17" Bow he caught and said it looked like a torpedo..........long and no meat any where on the fish.....
  5. I have wore the LL Bean wading boot brand quit a few years, which have what LL calls the Aqua Stealth sole and which Simms also offers on some of their brands. I have not had any trouble with this type of sole which I guess is some special type of rubber. Wear is good, no problems with wading, good for hiking, and they are exceptional on wet grass and muddy banks and the sole will not freeze in the cold winter air while walking. I look for all the wading boots to go to some type of sole other than felt, to reduce the chance of carrying invasive organism from one area to another. You cannot depend on a large segment of people cleaning their boots in the recommended fashion. I think Simms will put out a product which will be very dependable for safe wading for the individual and the environment
  6. I don't have ANY pop up problem here. NONE of any kind, &%@%#
  7. The big browns will be there except you will probably end up fishing from a boat
  8. IF I REMEMBER some of the info posted in 2007 when Bill# ???? came up I THINK these Agri-Corps were also exempt from any pollution issues such as sewage lagoon failures etc. and the biggest issue being local government NOT being able to make their own regulations concerning CAFO operations. DNR's Mission is to "Protect, Preserve and Enhance Missouri's Natural, Cultural and Energy Resources. They are also charged with the issuance of CAFO permits, and now finds itself at direct odds with it's own mission. just take a look at the pollution problems the state of Arkansas has to deal with and the devastation their watersheds have taken. I feel Agri-Corp play the me first and the state resources second and how many of these same companies are also known for their hiring practices of illegals for cheap labor cost which equals the ME First attitude. I do not feel the same towards the hard working farmer who spends an extreme number of hours working with little in return for their labors. American Industries moving their operation to other countries are also interested in the same ideals of ME FIRST and the country last. They are looking for cheap labor, little if any environmental regulations which equals MORE $'s for fewer people. I noticed in the paper today Russia has suspended imports from 19 chicken producers from the US. Quality was their stated issue but the real truth of the matter probably deals with the issues taking place in Georgia. In these times I guess their are no easy answers to the many problem we face daily.................................
  9. Gene's is great for a fishing trip we have stayed there for a annual trip for the last 10 yrs. except this year was flooded out...........
  10. If you enter CAFO in the "SEARCH" box located on the first screen on this site you can look at all the old post when this subject came up in 2007. A very good topic with lots of good info on what was really taking place by some (one in particular) State Senators and what corporations were involved and some of the bills past to STOP local counties and cities from passing their own ordinance.
  11. I heard there is a VERY large number of Gar from just above Lilley's to Fall Creek with some looking to be in the 5-6ft range............I also heard this is also a problem at Norfork Tailwaters. This sure could become a problem for the trout population....................... I would think
  12. I also first met Ed at his shop on St. Charles Rock Road and he took the time to explain to me about fly- tying. I asked about buying some flies and he explained that all his customers tied their own flies, so it started me in doing some tying twisted hackle and everything else which can go wrong. Ed will be missed and I also know the shop will be in good hands with Bob and the rest of the staff.
  13. LMW: Good to see your post and glad your ready to hit the waters again . It is strange your post turned up! I was thinking about you and a few others the other day who used to do regular post but have been silent for a long time.
  14. Phil: The video came in real good at Troy IL.
  15. Maybe they should sell the book titled "Rod Rage" in the trout parks and I would have to include some areas of the Upper Taney
  16. Firebuck: Check John Berry's fishing report it will give you some ideas of what to expect. From reading his reports they have not been generating at night and usually turn 1 or 2 on around 10am +/-. The horn they have for generation is not very loud, at least to me, nothing like Taney . Check http://ozarkanglers.com and go to the home page. The flow charts for the White and Norfork will be on the left side of the 1st screen, this will give you a general, very, of what they have been doing for the last few days. I don't take much stock in their generation schedule. Tight Lines..........
  17. Welcome to the site great bunch of people and hope you enjoy the read.

  18. Call the Blue Ribbon Fly Shop in Mountain Home Arkansas they might rent waders.
  19. JJ is right on with Reading, Charlie carries some low end rod & reel combos that cast well and will be a good starter outfit and will get the job done. He also has an large inventory of equipment to choose from. He probably still carries the Albright combo set and the rod handles great.
  20. Brittsnbirds is right about BS I was there Monday and the water was good for about two feet of visibility and all the fish are DEEP, need to get down. The Riffles below the Stone bridge is now a river and the fish are buried in the rock so you better be bouncing around in the rocks. Larry
  21. Mike: Try Smith Optics, just bought a pair from them. All you need is a new prescription from a eye doctor and you pick the style/lens color you want and mail or fax the info to them. Check for a dealer in your area and you can see and try on the different styles available. The fly shop I hang out at is a dealer so it was a simple process for me. Mine are also RX...Had mine delivered in 10 days.......Love them..
  22. I bet there also will be a big snow melt coming down from the north into the Mississippi river which is already high. Know they have some big snow packs in Wy. and some other western states, just don't know how much of that water will come down the Missouri river.
  23. Hey Phil! Same on this end. 4 1/2 hrs away but I would sure hit the road if you need help. Prayers are with you and the family!
  24. Muleball: Check out the following web site at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?06923500 it shows the gauge height at the Gauge House. I always use anything 3.0 or higher as being a little high and probably off color. Just checked it and the graph showed a big spike at around 11pm 3/31/08 with the area now under a flood watch and heavy rains forecast. As saturated as the ground is right now it will stain the water fast if much rain falls, lots of run off. plus the spring hole will probably start pumping a lot of muddy water like it did here a while back..........................Sorry but things don't look to promising................
  25. Larry's is the best of all. I think I have stayed in all of the places around there, within reason. Condo units are nice plus the cabins they have are clean.
