  1. I've been seeing lots of geese flying over the house just south of Nixa. But I'm too busy this time of year trapping to do any duck or goose hunting, although I'm sure it's fun
  2. If this is the 17 footer Discovery, it's a very durable boat and a very good price.
  3. Otters are very hard to catch. They are one of the hardest animals to keep in a trap. However, if you have the proper equipment and a little knowledge on how to use it, they are a pretty simple animal to catch. Buy yourself a trapping liscense and spend a little on some traps and you'll pay for them within the year easily. The otters were bringing over $100 2 years ago but the Dahli Lama in China or Tibet said that a certain species of otter should not be bought because it was endangered. Soo all of the people who was buying them quit. It had nothing to do with our River Otters, it was on a completely different continent with the otters but they quit buying completely. Soo the otter market crashed. Which isn't all bad to me and some others, but to the fishermen, it's just gonna make more otters because of low prices again, which in my opinion is a descent price considering the only animal worth more here in Missouri would be bobcat. They sure are a neat animal, I love em. I may take you up on your offer someday, I'd like to trap over there. Your rivers are way more beautiful than ours where I live.
  4. Around 35 to 45 dollars tops.
  5. Thanks for the info Brian. I live south of Springfield and Bryant Creek is about as far as I can drive for trapping during a day. I'd love to trap the Eleven Point. I went over there 2 years ago looking at sign and seen lots of otter sign, it was pretty impressive. I can only imagine how many trout they're catching. There's probably already someone trapping the Eleven Point and you just haven't seen them. Otters breed about like rats, it doesn't take long for them to repopulate. Good luck fishing.

    Acorns?

Around me I've noticed some trees have zero to a few, and some trees are just loaded. I don't know if this was any different than past years or not. I'd think like a lot of others that there'd be a definite shortage though. I shot a turkey yesterday and it was half full of grasshoppers and half full of acorns, so who knows?
  7. I haven't seen a whole lot of action. 2 weekends ago I seen a descent 9 point in pursuit of a doe, I could of shot it but the place I was hunting doesn't want anything under 130" shot so I painfully let it proceed on with the chase. That was in North Missouri. Then about a week ago here in south missouri I let a nice 8 pointer by because half it's rack was broke off. Also got busted by 2 huge huge gobblers. I was sitting in my stand, in 3D camoflauge, moitionless with a tree at my back, 15 feet up the tree looking straight ahead. And then I got busted by the gobblers. They're truely unbeleivable with their eyesight. I've only gotten 1 button buck so far this year.
  8. Well, just to let you guys know the answer to my question. They're there pretty much at anyone's guess. I put a camera up 3 days ago and 3 different bucks(all small) passing by on the ridge at all different times. So I guess no time is better than another.
  9. Hey Trout, Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion at all, lol. There's no tracks at all. Just scrapes, and I didn't want to get too close to them. It's all rocks and leaves and trees. There's a couple real little saddles on the ridge, but they're not real definitive. I went back today with a scout camera and seen a few does and a bunch of turkeys. I'm trying not to stomp all over the place and scare the mature deer off. Thanks again.
  10. I was scouting some new territory today and I found at least 5 major scrapes and a couple rubs. They're located pretty much in the middle of a deep woods and is on top of a big ridgeline. They're all within 300 yards total. My question is. What time of the day would you all say would be the best time of the day to intercept the buck? or 2 maybe. These are some major scrapes and not just boundary scrapes on a field edge or something small. Thanks

    Buck Fever

Terry, I do practice from up high (off my chicken house). It's not the fact that I can't hit a turkey, it's the fact that they're too wary and their eyes are too good to draw back on one without them seeing me out of a treestand. But shooting high is something I'd recommend for anyone who bowhunts.

    Buck Fever

All I can do is fling arrows at them darn turkeys. It seems impossible to get a shot at a turkey from a stand. Now out of a blind would be different, but I like to be perched up high for deer. I guess that's why I take the bazooka out for turkeys instead of the bow. Although shooting one with a bow would be rewarding, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

    Buck Fever

That split-tine buck that's the biggest is sure a nice shooter buck. But he still looks pretty young. I can only imagine what it would look like next year or the next. That's sure a dandy.
  14. I can't hardly stand waiting any longer. Me and my wife are headed up to North Mo to a new property we just got permission on. 563 acres on a big ridge above the Chariton River. I can't even sleep at night because of it, lol.
  15. Thanks Donnie. I like the fishing after dark better anyways, but after the long weekend I don't think staying late will go over, lol. Thanks
  16. Hey Slider, Have you been catching many before dark? I'm going to north Mo bowhunting this weekend and thought about stopping on the way home possibly for a couple hours up until dark. Possibly after dark if my wife will let me stay that long. She'll be with me so I'm sure it's gonna be a long weekend for her. Thanks.
  17. He means the "beetle' off of the beetle spin. Purple. Put onto a small jig. 1/16 or 1/32 size jig. I know this cause I learned from him, lol. Although the purple swimming minnows do pretty good also.
  18. FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY
  19. ok, thanks
  20. I might be able to help even though it is quite a drive for me. Is it coming back night after night? If they can't wait till trapping season they'll probably need permission from a game warden before anyone can attempt to catch it.
  21. Hey Phil, What do they want caught? Do they want it relocated or what?
  22. I couldn't get on yesterday either, I thought it crashed too, lol.
  23. I was just curious if anyone on here digs any ginseng, goldenseal, or any other kinds of roots.
  24. Hey guys, I'm planning on going down to lower Taney Wednesday if I can get someone to come with me so if I do I'll give a report.
  25. Also what's the difference in someone fishing on their own catching fish to keep and being with a guide who preaches catch and release, but when the guide's getting paid to guide for someone who wants to keep some fish? It seems pretty hypocritical to me.
