  1. Yeah they don't belong on the lake! They belong on the bottom of it.
  2. I went down to Powersite today out of boredom. I Got down there just a hair before 8 o clock. There were 3 guys sitting on the dam wall catching drum left and right. There's no telling how many they caught. There is hardly any room anywhere to fish without strong current. I Finally found a tolerable spot and fished for an hour with no bites using sliders, roostertails, and rogues. Finally about 9:30 i went to lift my rogue out of the water and a fish hit it. It took off like a rocket. I Finally got it in and it ended up being a 25 inch walleye. That was super. I had 1 other walleye on and lost it. Also lost a big big fish that I Never saw. The guys beside me caught a white bass and drum, plus caught about a 4 pound catfish using shad for bait. The water was still pretty stained with maybe a foot of clarity.
  3. Do you all know if the White River in Arkansas is higher now than in 08?
  4. Thanks for the report. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. What time did you finish up with your limits?
  5. I've never been on Taneycomo fishing for bluegills but there is big ones in there that I've seen caught. Also I've seen people grabbing suckers at Walnut Shade every year while on my way to Forsyth. Usually they have ladders though.
  6. That would be a Rock Bass or Goggle Eye. Same fish. Different names.
  7. Me and my son caught 9 a few days ago while fishing for bluegill. The Hootentown area is where we were.
  8. Me and my son have been bluegill fishing the last week on the James and have been doing extremely well also. We caught one yesterday that was 9 1/2 inches long and almost as wide. We weighed it on the kitchen scale and it weighed 13 1/2 ounces. Thats the biggest I've ever caught on the river. We've also caught some that were almost that big.
  9. From what I've been told about the boards on the dam is that they lay a cable along the boards when they install them and pull them out with a dozer by breaking them down all at once.
  10. yeah I like it. you can't tip those canoes. I have the same canoe, just don't have a motor to put on it. you had it nice with somebody to steer the canoe while you fish too. you can really load those canoes down good with weight. it sucks to paddle them though.
  11. Hey Ozarksgunner, was you in the Predator Old Town canoe? If so I seen you down there.
  12. I'd like to go too. But with the long drive I Hate to chance it not knowing if they're biting or not.
  13. The fishing looks pretty varied up there. The only thing missing is a walleye.
  14. hunt fish trap

  15. Hey barredrock, I live between Springfield and Branson and can hook you up with some good campfire wood if you want some. As a fellow trapper I can make it easy on you. A lot cheaper than gas station firewood. PM me if you want.
  16. I was down at Hootentown 2 days ago with the kids fishing. The water is floatable and clear enough to fish. It's high and fast but well within its banks now. It'd be a fast float for sure.
  17. Yeah, thanks for the pics too. It looks like the water has cleared up a lot. I bet somebody is catching some fish down there somewhere.
  18. Leonard, why do you gotta tease me like that? Now I almost have to go. Thanks though for the report. That's what I've been wanting to hear. I know they'd be there if the water is clear enough for them to see a lure.
  19. floating that stretch in 3 days would be a pretty good distance to float. But if you floated most of the day and didn't stop for too long you should make it ok. 3 days and 2 nights on the river is gonna be tiring. But I'm sure you know that already. Sounds like a lot of fun as long as it doesn't rain.
  20. Denjac your picture looks like its muddy to me. I was down there a few days ago and it looked like it does in the picture. I was hoping it was clearer by now. Thanks for the info.
  21. Does anybody on here know anything about water clarity below the dam? Or if anyone has been catching any fish in the area? I was wanting to go soon and didn't wanna waste a trip if someone had some info. thanks.
  22. I know it is crazy. I don't know if they thought the limit size was 15 inches or not. I'm not one to police others soo i didn't say anything.
  23. I was down at the dam last night. There were lots of people on the banks and quite a few boats too. Saw a boat trolling close to the bank catching crappie and whites. Also seen probably 10 walleye caught too. Half were short and 2 guys were keeping them anyways. But the other half were good sized. I ended up with only 3 crappie and 1 white bass. 1 guy had a good spot and caught probably 10 fish that were keepers with a few walleye mixed in.
  24. I went to Swan creek yesterday evening with the kids. Swan was loaded with fish. Almost all were suckers. Right about dark they were just continually swimming past going upstream. I'm sure there's some grabbers getting them today if they stayed after this morning. I got a couple just before dark, but I was there for the white bass. I caught none of them. Seen just 2 caught while I was there.
  25. I haven't been in a few days. But the last time I was there the water had risen about a foot from when I was catching them. All whites were gone because of the colder temps. With warm temps the fish will be back soon.
