High Powered Boats Are Coming To White River.
taxidermist replied to Greasy B's topic in White River
gotmuddy is right as is ham. I have seen a few big motors and the jets at under one unit get bashed hard on some of the shoals. Matter of fact someon in a big red Shoal Runner pretty much ruined his boat about 60 days ago before the high releases. With the way the White can change under high release and then the water dropping out, there has been a couple times I had to walk the Shawnee down river over some shoals!! -
I would hire a guide for the first couple of trips on the Whtie river, you will catch fish and the kids will too. PM me for moreinfo.

Fished with Steve Wed morning, caught a bunch of fish on Zara Spooks. Lost several at the boat and had a huge striper break off. Here is a pic of the 3 and the 4 pound Spotted bass and the 6 and the 8 pound wipers I caught. http://s1135.photobucket.com/albums/m623/BBQ_PIG/?action=view¤t=2011-01-260012011-01-26001.jpg http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m623/BBQ_PIG/2011-01-260012011-01-26003.jpg

Arkansas Does Not Have A New State Record Bass
taxidermist replied to Stump bumper's topic in Table Rock Lake
I have never received a renewal notice and neither has my wife. My fishing buddy who lives out of state has not either. So you guys must be special for the AGFC to send you a notice. Anyway over the weekend I heard the story about the record bass being confiscatied. The man was fishing in a state park, Village Creek State Park, near Wynne. The ARGFC was going to pay for a mold of the fish to be made and ten replicas. The fisherman thinking he was going to make thousands of dollars from the replicas got mad and told the AGFC he wanted another taxidermy shop todo the fish. The other shop is not known for mounting good fish (This is from the shop owner who told me the story) anyway. the angler got mad and threatened the AGFC with a law suite. Thats when the AGFC checked and found the man had bought a license over 3 hours after catching the fish. A Warden then went and wrote the angler a ticket, which can cost him up to $1,000. dollars and 30 days in the pokey. The AGFC was at the fish taxidermist place of business to confiscate the record fish at 09:30 Sunday morning. Just like everyone when I heard the story of him catfishing with a caronlina rig and a MANNS Jelly Worm. I thought it sounded hokey.. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2012/mar/10/state-record-bass-turns-into-landmark-mess/ http://www.katv.com/story/17125172/ark-mans-record-bass-bring-illegal-catch-charge http://www.agfc.com/Pages/newsDetails.aspx?show=389 -

I attached this pic,it is from last week on Norfork, where there are 20 times the stripers stocked than ever would be on Bull Shoals. Recently they also caught a 12 lb waleye from Norfork. So apples to apples. looks like Norfork does fine with stripers.

Bry what political adds on here? You have to show me where I posted political crap. Do you really think catching a bass from the bed, running 35 miles down lake and then it being released elsewhere is not hurting the bass population. Most bass is left alone seldom go more than one mile from where it was hatched. How many bass have you seen in mid lake? Howmany bass have you caught in mid lake? Bull Shoals in not Dale Hollow, may look a lot a like but they are not the same. There are 12-14 lb walleye in Bull Shoals, I have seen them. So why the ???? Now lets look at the flooding, What was Bull Shoals built for? to control flooding!!! Seems over the years many people have forgotten that andmany have fudged the line onto COE owned lands. You want to compare Bull Shoals to other lakes out of the highland res region of the Ozarks, sorry that bird does not fly.

Many years ago like int he mid 1970's there were several stockings of Striped bass in Bull Shoals lake. Yes there were a lot of large largemouth bass in the lake too. But tournements have destroied those chances of for the sunfish we call bass. Someone at BPS released yellow perch, the very same DNA as yellow perch I buy from a grower in Indiana. so no big deal they are not hurting anything. AGFC relases about 20,000 rainbow trout per year in BUll Shoals, they are currently in the Pot SHoals net pens. There are still some bigbass in BS, Do stripers hurt the bass? I dont think so I canpost a recent pic from a guide on Nrofork and they caugght some nice bassin the last few days on Norfork. The deep water ofBS isnot conducive for growing large crappie, Most of the fish cover is gone, remember how old BS is? Mo record striped bass 64 lbs from BS near Forsyth. Lots og huge striped bass by chance. No look at the area those small towns around BS, these towns have died, is it the economy? No they were dying longbefore this depression we are in. I was on the BSlake Wedand fished about 3 hours, caught some nice smallmouth bass all in the 3-4lbs range. these came off bluffs in the mainlake and you would think that stripers would be ther eating them. LOL NOT! I MARKED A LOT OF SHAD A LOT OF SHAD! Now one body of water canonly support a certain amount of biomass. Shad the millions of shad eat a lot of the same stuff baby bass eat. Bull Shoals should be full of baby bass after the 2008 flood and last years flood. I saw thousandsand thousands of fry those years. Remove the shad increse the biomass of productive fishable species.

taxidermist replied to LittleRedFisherman's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
GPS in a phone dont worl everywhere ont he river, reason cell towers dont reach everywhere onthe river. If you Gps for speed it must ab a real GPS. I did run my Shawnee ont he lake Wed. with the 20hp merc its not half bad!!! -
One restriction leads to another. its nothing new. we made those back in the 1970's when I was in high school and they are any better than a well placed jelly worm or Mr Twister. Ban those and ban fishing while bass are on the beds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Boat Is Here!
taxidermist replied to LittleRedFisherman's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Well since others are posting there new boats, here is mine. Shawnee, with a short front deck. Full length stainless steel rails, full length rod trays on either side. twin live wells, new 20 Hp. Merc. el start!! New Deluxe Easy Loader trailer,.. I choose the new olive green color with tan interior. I only bought two spider seats, more room!!! We have had it 60 days and its been fun. trailer loads and unloads very easy. even if the water is low and the water does not get to the bunks, you can still load the boat with ease. 14 inch tires!!!! And yes thats trailer lights in front of the trailer tires. Leds the works. -
A 48 inch Shawnee is going to be slow with that large a load and 3 or 4 people and a 15hp. it will be ok with a 10 pitch. I ran a older Shawnee with a 25hp two stroke yamaha and SS prop and with four people and gear it would zip up river, even with 8 unit online. With the 15 four stroke Merc and the 9 pitch is was a bit slower and under powered for 8 units and four people. I just picked up my new Shawnee a couple weeks ago, 20Hp Merc four stroke, Its going to be about right in power and speed. Easy very easy on fuel.See the other post.

Best Fiberglass Jon Boat
taxidermist replied to Piscator's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Here are pics of the new Shawnee. Bomberman was great to work with. The boat is just what I wanted!!! rod trays on both sides, short front deck. The 20 HP Merc. electric start has been great on gas. I have made two trips from Ranchette up river to the bottom of the catch and release area at rim Shoals. on from Wildcat to Sportsmans' Resort and have used maybe 2 1/2 gallons of gas. The new boat is smooth, full flat bottom which is great, especially for us clumsy people!... Two live well, dry storage on either side. one in the rear and one dry storage int he front. The trailer has the new vault bearing system unlimited mileage and ten year warranty on the bearings. Anyway here are some pics. Rob was great to work with. Rob also guaranties you will catch bigger fish with one of his boats!!! Above Wildcat the first fish int he boat was a largemouth bass!!!! I mean really, Second trip above Ranchette I landed two small mouth bass. I think Rob and I need to have a talk, this is suppose to be a trout boat! Tight lines! -
Ban The Sale Of Wild Animals? What About Fish?
taxidermist replied to Tim Smith's topic in Conservation Issues
There are laws on the books, you cannot touch a fledgling, Feds have all this wrapped up. To own exotic animals you must meet min. standards already set forth. -
I have been mounting fish for over 30 years and have seen everything from fat light weight fish to fish that were all muscle,no they dont ripup like a weight lifter but there is a difference. over the hundreds and hundreds of fish I have cut into, I know for a fact what I said was true and solid facts. You can even tell by the feel of the flesh.

Pretty much two generators on. have not seen it below two. YET! but I am sure its coming. The rainbow bite has been hot really hot, browns have still been slow. We have been catching some nice cutthroats in the mix! Several of the guides have awarded grand slam pins to people catching and releasing all four species on the same day. I am still looking for the Brookies in the white!

Catch And Releaser's Should Stop At Their Limit?
taxidermist replied to FishinCricket's topic in General Angling Discussion
Stop at the five fish limit???? If I am not keeping fish then why. Seems to me that if you like to fish then CR is fine, if you want a few to eat thats fine too. Seems silly to me. ok five fish and one canbe a brown trout over 24" thats what is legal here onmore torut water. so then if you catch onebrown you need to stop fishing. cause you might catch another even the fact the first brown trout is 6 inches long. -
Fish from a creek with moving water of the same size as a lake fish will normally be a bit heavier due to muscle verse flab. Lake fish dont have a lot of current to fight.
