  1. Saw a family that fished Kellys slab area this AM, they had a nice string of 2lb rainbows. Rapalas!!! I dont know if these are all fish that came up river during higher water or maybe the AGFC has dropped a few in for the fun of it. but def. worth a try for fun.
  2. As the weather gets colder the stripers start hitting topwaters more. The areas of Norfork lake at Quarry Marina launch up lake for the next two miles are pretty good I am told. A large cove on the left going up lake holds many good fish and a lot of smaller fish. Of course its colder weather and you must fish from a boat. Check major feeding periods on the solunar calender for best fishing.
  3. Messege board seems to be restricted to members only.
  4. Just wondering if any of the Striper club members are here?
  5. Todays report is 17 flood gates opens and 7 generoators on line for a total of about 9 generators worth of water.. Batesville reports 90,000 cubic feet persecond over the dam at lock one. the gravel barge at Batesville also went over the dam breaking into several pieces.
  6. Yes Arkansas still stocks around 30,000 bows from the net pens in the Pot Hoals area. At one time when Mark Oliver was the bio in charge he stocked Browns and lakers, he was also the key person on stocking stripers.. Bull Shoals boat dock use to run pontoon trips nightly for bows... One good spot for Bos is the Jimmy Creek Arm were the three caves are, under lights. problem is the caves are underwater right now.
  7. http://www.humminbird.com/ as these people
  8. Here is a list of what I know about some of the stripers. These are in the last 16 months. 2 over 50 lbs, by a man from Flippin. Lower lake areas Near the mouth of Jimmie creek. Pictures were on the front of Angler mag. when it was in publication 1 @ the lower end I dont know the fishes weight but it was 45 inches long and has a 24.5 inch girth * 1 @ 48 long bottom at Peel.* 1 @ 46 near East Sugar loaf.* 1 @ 41 from the hump near Peel. (this fish I knw where it is, it is in the catchers freezer) 1 @ 35. near the Island at Diamond city." Missouri Record from upper end near Powersite dam We have seen the pics of this fish. Fish marked with * I have handled.
  9. We have had very good luck up the lake from Tucker Hollow (about 30 minutes at 45 mph)for walleye. A good stiff fishing rod 8lb flouracarbon line and a HotNtot or wiggle wart you can get the lure down in some very deep water trolling the flats. Blue or black back chrome sides works well Just allow the boat to idle along. there are some flats in a hard bend in the lake that hold lots of eyes. The por walleye touryguys used their shallow lake techniques on Bull and they just dont work. Anyway you can prduce some good strings of eyes doing this early April and may at power pool is best try to hold the boat in 20 feet of water, wehn you find fish use bouys to mark them.
  10. Anyone have any leads to who or where I can get the blue or orange dock foa?? . heck if they are paying to have it hauled off I am going to fine.... I will haul off a pickup truck load or two if I can get it!
  11. A fellow just down the road took a nice 46 lb striper yesterday. 10 lb test and a twopiece wal mart spinning rod. He said he lost a second one, had a lot of white bass in a second cooler. Also a man in Harrison took a 48 last week. samething jigging for white bass. Email Mark Oliver at the AGFC about the stripers and lakers.
  12. If you see any floating around the lakes I would be willing to pick it up in the Branson Table Rock or Bull Shoals lake area. Its suppose to be replaced with encapsulated foam. Thanks John 870-453-7702 taxidermist118@hotmail.com

  14. Fairview is ok to launch at.
  15. rangerman, Kins river empties into Table Rock. and no the AGFC does not care as much about Table Rock as they do Bull Shoals. AGFC built a new fish rearing pond on Westr Suger Loaf just out of Leadhill a few years back, specificlly for rearing walleye. That along with the pond on East Sugar Loaf again just north of Leadhill provides a lot of walleye. I do know that MO does tag some walleye, a tagged waleye that was caught and tagged near Theodosia was caught and kept last year, caught near Tucker hollow, weighed about 7 lbs. has a tag for $75.00 near the dorsal fin. Yeah teh illegal stocking of yellow perch has been a success. They seem to not hurt anything and will take beetle spins pretty easily. So far so good.
  16. Last spring we had a hay day with short walleye and so did a lot of other people.. I know Bull holds some large walleye. But you are right about the stripers.. I think its the MH Chamber of Commerce keeping them from being stocked in Bull. Reason I think so is Norfork is closer to Mt Home and this means some additional cash flow into the city from out of state. Bull onbce had a super striper fishery and its been allowed to die, a little bit of money scattered the length of Bull about 125 miles from dam to dam, verse the whole lof lake Norfork right there at Mt Home.
  17. This spring we caught hundreds of short eyes. but thats ok. With the amount of bait fish in the lake the stripers could do very well. AGFC only stock around 20,000 rainbow trout now days per year. So I too have to wonder why the trout in Bull Shoals.. why not 20,000 striper fingerlings.. Few would become food for other fish species. Maybe its something to do with the MT home chamber of commerce? Anyone remember the lake trout project? they did very well in Bull Shoals, but few people could tell the bows from the browns from the lakers! Stripers do occupy an area of the lake few other fish use!!!
  18. Nothing wrong with ethanol.. The government just wants their taxes onit. But I hear some olde boys back in the hills are still making their own.. Newton County Libarary had a class on making moonshine about 3 years ago. just to make sure noone gets bad shine I think.
  19. Dont forget the elk poop. deer poop, horse crap and so muck more. Somehow Ijust dont think a pump thats been out for a couple years is going to make a difference.. Plus the drainage area from Boxley on down.. Hum if I pee outside it will finally run into the Buffalo.... Hey dont drink the water!!!! Um yea and fish breed init too.
  20. Years ago when the AGFC stocked stripers in Bull Shoals regularly. there were a lot of 30 lb fish caught. even some near 50lbs. I mounted one for the Late Bob Sutton that was on the wall at Lead Hill Boat dock wehn Bill Nay sold it. that fish was 47lbs Last year several over 50 lbs were caught a man last name Sanders caught two over fifty. Since there are not many who remember the old days when stripers were stocked the man at Forsyth Bait shop coul dhave told you about them. the fish on his walls came for the water of Bull Shoals.
  21. Old fish and a fight are like old men and running, its going to kill them most likely.. Lactic acid in the muscles, soft weak heart. the fish did not get big by being a great athelete. and most of us would die if we had to run a mile as hard as we could and them be dragged..
  22. My 2500 Hd chevy gets 3 mpg less on the blend than real gas... Trading food for fuel is noever a good deal.
  23. You are going to boil it anyway!.. Pump at Dogpatch has been down for a copuple years. Do they think people forget about that?
  24. Yesterday a man called and brought by a large live striper from Bull Shoals. 47 inches long with a 28 inch girth. electronic scales said it was big 51lbs and 3 oz. with the current large food supply in the lake you cna expect several more large striped bass to come in.
  25. Check the COE levels at Newport. the COE is going to maintain between 12 and 21 feet at Newport, through Jan 2. 879-431-5311. Bull has been running 7 generators plus flood gates are open along with 2 at Norfork plus gates. 21 feet at Newport is a lot of water, puts water into many fields just below Batesville where I lived a few years back. 12 is top of the river bank.. Wife caught a Palamino Rainbow last weekend. I had seen several in the river and she thought I was full of it, then she caught one. By Christmas?? Yet right!! Crooked creek may be a great place with the White River and Norfork up. Several nice trout have been caught between Snow and Kellys Slab. The Creek is mostly wadable right now.. ONe report was a rainbow caught in Clear Creek. The water was high in Novemeber so the bows ran up creeks and rivers. maybe some browns too.
