  6. Yeah, I hear ya, but what do you want me to do? I'm not having a baby. I don't have canoe to modify.... and I'm not modifying yours just because I'm unemployed. Did I miss something? Other than that I totally dig E's canoe. Oh and SF, do you know what they call a guy who wears camo in the city?
  7. Wrench, you crack me up too!
  8. I thought, hey, why not look for a job that has something to do with fishing?!?!? Not like stocking shelves at Bass Pro, Dick's or wherever; and there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with those jobs. So, I run across this place here in STL called U.S. Reel. I think wow, this is kinda cool and not too far from home. I get to looking around the website and..... from USreel.com I read this.... "U.S. Reel, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is an American company. The concept and design of the SuperCaster reel originated within these shores. Heavy initial investment, research and development, testing and refinements took place in the U.S. SuperCaster reels are manufactured to comply with strict U.S. Reel specifications and quality control standards in China. what a let down.... Guess I won't be putting reels together here in MO. Does anyone own one of these reels? There are no prices in the online catalog, so I'm thinking they're spendy.
  9. bm, you crack me up!
  10. I poked around a little bit, since I have no first or second hand knowledge of said rods. Seems they are sold mainly in the NW, based in Idaho. Price seems fairly reasonable and they will let you try a rod on the water for 14 days. They must have confidence in their product. Their domain has been registered since 1996, so they've been around a little while. Like laker, I think I read that and one other review, both were positive; which sometimes frightens me. I know this is no real help PC, sorry.
  11. Just wanted to say thanks Chris for your service to our country. There's plenty of folks here that can help you out with the fly fishing. Just don't go out at night with Leonard. Everyone was a beginner once. Welcome

    Blind Dog

Hey guys and gals. I have an 11 year old black lab mix that is diabetic and now is newly blind. I was wondering if anyone had any tips/tricks for helping her adjust to her new world. I've read some stuff online but figured I'd ask here as well. She seems to be doing okay, only a few minor run-ins (with walls and she gets stuck in corners sometimes) but she navigates the stairs (we live in a split level) surprisingly well. Thanks in advance.
  18. Wow, GD, those are some big ticket items to leave behind on a solo trip. Especially the fire starters. I personally always carry at least two sources of flame, and I'm usually with others. If you do the "minimalist" thing, I would suggest taking a small point and shoot camera (extra batteries and memory cards too) that takes video and a little gorilla pod. Not for any other reason than the fact I would really enjoy seeing your journey. Ever watch Survivor man? Your kids and grand kids will cherish it. Safe travel brother, have fun. Peace.
  19. I find the whole thing sadly hilarious... or hilariously sad.
  20. Oh man! I wish Greg!!! I would have done a back flip out of the boat into the lake if I would have gotten em on the flyrod. One that big on the fly is on the list of things to do though....
  21. Nice Phil! F U N! Did you go back out after the rains?
  22. This is the biggest LM bass I have ever landed. 21" - didn't get girth or weight, wanted to get it back in the water ASAP. Special thanks to my best bud Sherwood Flycaster for the invite and insight. I'm not exactly a great bass fisherman... or even a good one for that matter.
  23. Chief, whatever you do, DO NOT start looking for places in Crane for a B&B. <the above is total sarcasm> This may be your time to buy, and no, I'm not a realtor. Just did a quick search of places for sale in Crane.
