Any Members In The Printing Business?
patfish replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
Phil, is there a new design or are you sticking with the old one? -
Just so y'all know, if you cross pollenate a cuke and a watermellon, it is VERY good. Thanks to the insects that did it for me..... what an awesome combo of flavors. We ended up with a cuke that had a watermelon flavor hint, it is excellent!

If you just copy and paste it in your browser it works fine.

Well, I think I have the mystery solved. Cross pollenation? I think I have a Cukemellon or a watercumber. I picked it last night and threw it in the fridge. I'll slice it up tonight, try it, and take some pics.

Note to self: Never eat powerbait when Phil may be lurking around.

Quill, I seem to have lucked out so far this year on the insects. However, in the past, and I always try to avoid chemicals, if I have an insect issue, I use LadyBugs as my first option. They are cheap, effective, and as long as you have, hopefully in this case, aphids or mites, they will stay on your plants as long as there are aphids/mites to eat. I get a bag of 1000 and usually put half on at a time depending on the number of plants you have. You can store the rest in the fridge until needed. If you don't have a place in town you can get them, there are tons of places on-line. Any other questions, let me know. Good growing!

Thanks for the update TH777! Yeah, the fire from the sky, in a boat, or on land, is nothing that anyone should think they are tougher than.

Dano or Bill, please close this thread before it gets outta hand. I can appreciate everyone's opinion, but this has become no longer informative or more importantly NO fun to read. JMO.

Didn't you mean "ANTICS"? Just messin Trav.

Okay, here's the dealio. I bought, just like every year, a melon of some type to grow. Thus far, I have never had one come to fruitition. This year we bought some muskmelon plants. AKA cantaloupe. I have fruit (maybe) on the vine. So, here is the question.... what in the world is this? I'm thinking watermelon. There is no possible way it is a cantaloupe. But it totally looks like a zuch. The flowers have rounded ends so I know its not a cuke plant. Any ideas? Also, I included a "welcome to the Mater jungle" pic. 41 tomato plants of various varieties. So if you live nearby, feel free to PM me as I'm sure we'll have a few to spare. The flower pic kinda stinks as far as focus, but light was low. Sorry.

Lamar, I'd type more but I can't see the screen for the tears. Safe journey brother and my best to you and your family.

A fire fighter is working on the engine outside the station when he notices a little girl next door in a little red wagon with little ladders hung off the sides and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle. The girl is wearing a fire fighter's helmet. The wagon is being pulled by her dog and her cat. The fire fighter walks over to take a closer look. 'That sure is a nice fire truck,' the fire fighter says with admiration. 'Thanks,' the girl says. The fire fighter looks a little closer and notices the girl has tied the wagon to her dog's collar and to the cat's testicles. 'Little Partner,' the fire fighter says, ' I don't want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you were to tie that rope round the cat's collar, I think you could go faster.' The little girl replies thoughtfully, 'You're probably right, but then I wouldn't have a siren.'

Thanks Gavin. First I'm going to try and get some redemption for Dano from Cabela's. If no luck there, I'm headed to Tom's. He's the one that sold my buddy the rod. I'm sure he'll remember.

I was wondering if someone would bring this up. My 2 cents.... As an American, a Missourian, and Saint Louisan, yes, I am a little hurt by the sell off. Probably wouldn't be as hurt if Auggie wouldn't have said "Not on my watch" in regards to the sale. But what is hurt is only my pride. I'll get over it. Here's where things get sketchy... like FFM has stated, costs will be cut, assets liquidated. That's all fine and dandy, happens everyday. Jobs will be lost, and I may be one. The company I work for is an AB supplier and they are our single largest customer worldwide. I can rattle off all the AB brewery locations as well as most of the can-plants, malt plants, entertainment facilities, etc. I deal with them most of the day, everyday. Our pricing agreement is up with AB in December, so that will either be re-negotiated or just plain canceled. The only reason the place I work at in STL exists is because AB said they wanted us here in town. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, it is a shame that jobs will be lost at the Breweries, but the fallout will be more far reaching than that as Brito slashes costs, the ripple effect. They may go from the $1M/month they spend with us to 10 grand. That'll shut our doors. By the way, I asked for a promotion/raise yesterday. Yeah, they're brass. But you know what, I've been kinda freakin on this all week, now I'm fighting. If I lose my job over this, so be it. I'm resilient, just like my dad and grandpa and all Americans have been and are. Who knows, I may land a job that I never thought of even having and making more money. Or not. Makes no difference. I'll make it. It may not be pretty or with showers of cash, but I'm still FREE to do whatever the heck I please. Like go fishing, and I can still play with my dog and my girlfriend can still wear her bikini and not a berka. That is all that matters. Oh yeah, and, I get to go see the Cardinals play on Sunday in a Stadium I've never been to.... I think its called InBev Stadium? Does that sound right? I'll still drink a Bud while I'm there. The guys left at AB need me to....

Do y'all think that Smallies would thrive and survive in these waters? Just askin out of couriousity......

Thanks Dano and JD. I think I may just go to the Cabela's in Hazelwood and see what I can come up with. I will let y'all know what I find out. Also, Dano, I e-mailed the guy from the link you provided. I'll let you know how that pans out too. Preshade all the input. You guys rule!

AZ, I called them and they said they have no idea about a repair guy. Guess I'm SOL. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! Now I'm really mad at myself. Surely somewhere I can find a reel foot that will work!!
-
THANKS Leonard! You are lucky I like you! Paybacks brother, paaaaaybacks! Cardiac, thanks, but since I only work for a company that supplies AB, we will suffer huge sales losses I suspect at some point. Our pricing agreement is up with them in December, so that will have to be re-negotiated if renewed at all. They are our single largest customer worldwide and the only reason that the facility that I work in here in STL exsists. It may only be a matter of time. But.... yaneverknow.

Thanks FlyFshn and SF. Guess what I did after I got home from work? Mowed the lawn! Ugh. No biggie though, frees up time later in the week. Thanks for the well wishes and SF, I'll talk to you later bout headin out. FlyFshn, I expect a full and detailed report upon your return from Bennett. Tights lines all.... The tug is the drug...

Thanks Don. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I am working today. Although, with the whole AB/InBev deal, I may be unemployed by this time next year. Then I guess I'll have plenty of time to fish, but no cash. I'm going to get out somewhere soon. Haven't been since June 23rd, and that is just plain wrong.

Fellas, I have this reel and a 3wt rod which I inherited from my fishing buddy Dave that passed away back in 05. I somehow broke it (which makes me sick!) and I really want to fix it and keep them together since it was his set up. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think. Any and all suggestions/advice are greatly appreciated. If I'm SOL, then I guess I'll have to buy a Lamson Konic for it. He really liked Lamsons. Thanks.

Man! That has be rough on a guy, a few minutes drive!!! Go get 'em Troy and the rest of y'all. Still living vicariously through the posts. Thanks!

That is sad, but the best part is the guy's reaction at the bottom of the News-leader page.... "If you lose your boat would it then become a situation of "Roe vs. Wading"? Just curious."
