  1. Tried it again today. Not near the results that I had on Wed. Not one keeper today, maybe 12 total, could not get them to bite the wart. Water was 57 degrees. Fished up Kings, and around the Shell Knob area, just not happening today. Hope others were more successful than me today.
  2. Fished out of Big Bay today, had 7 keepers and probably 10 shorts. Had 3 over 4 lbs. Best five would have weighed around 18-19. Get your wiggle wart out and look for wind and bigger rock. Hope this helps you all, will be in St. Louis for the State football championships this weekend.
  3. Had 10 lbs. today in the first day of our tourney. Numbers were not there today. Pretty tough. Don't know what to tell you about your trip, just be patient and hope the sun doesn't shine.
  4. I can tell you this, the bite is tough as Bill B. has stated. This drawing down has put them in a foul mood. My partner and I do not even know which way we are going on Sat. If it were me, I would drop shot or spoon the mouths of pockets. Don't think that will produce a lot of keepers, but could help the numbers. Water color at Lunker Landing was really good last Sat., so should have cleared some with the amount of current they have had.
  5. Thanks Bill. I hear you on that. My father in law went yesterday, had 3 keeps on spinnerbait and square bill. One of his keepers was over 6 lbs. Caught it off a bush, on blade. I must have thrown at 1000 of them last weekend. Oh well, hopefully they will bite this weekend.
  6. Bill What tactic is producing 7 keeps for you? If you don't mind me asking.
  7. I was told that due to the Federation not taking any entries away from Central Pro-Am, they went ahead and scheduled it. May be that the Federation does not turn out 200 for theirs. I am sure they will have over 100, but you never know.
  8. Fished yesterday as well out of Campbell Point. Caught 15-20, 2 keepers in the boat lost 2 others. Caught them on football jig and spinnerbait. Color in the Campbell point area. Very disappointed about the quality of fish. Should be able to catch some good ones right now, but like Bill B. said, the high water is not good for fall, at least for me. Fishing the Central Pro Am this coming weekend so hopefully something will materialize on Friday. Hope to see some other anglers there that are on the forum. Will be in a Z-20, gray and maroon, come by and say hi. With 50 boats, the pay out is $10,000, more entries, the pay out bumps up even more. Good luck when you get to go.
  9. Fished out of Big M from daylight til 12:30. Caught a ton of fish, but no keepers, I repeat 0 keepers. All the fish I caught were caught off of bluffs burning a spinnerbait. Hit back of a couple of creeks early, and never got a bite. Sorry I did not get this reported yesterday. Fish
  10. Tried the fall thing last year. Right now with the weather changing you can find them shallow up the kings on laydowns. Could be up shallow on it or out on the end of it. Also, you can find them on trees on channel swings, a little deeper than in the spring. It is getting close to time to start hitting these areas to see if they have moved in. I know this is not a 365 deal, but with fall upon us, this should help. By the way, they will not be in every tree. Hope this helps.
  11. Well after doing a little inventory, I guess, the reels would be what I need. Let me know what you have both spinning and baitcasting and the price. Thanks for your time Bill.
  12. Bill Do you still have any falcon rods for sale? If so, you can email me at ewhite@cassville.k12.mo.us Thanks
  13. Have used it for the past 3 years, and really like it. Used mostly for jerkbaits and jigs. Tried 12 lb. test for flipping last year and broke off too many times for my liking, but the 15 lb. test perfroms well for flipping at least for me. It is a good line, has a good price tag and those two items are why I buy it. Have a couple of buddies buying it now.
  14. I was pretty fortunate yesterday. Not many boats out and fished different areas with the SB. This is something I've been doing for the past several years. A guy showed me a few years back and the pattern appears in Sep. sometime and last a couple of weeks and then goes away. It does however come back again in late October. Timing and weather affect how early or late in Sep. it occurs. Buzz bite can be good, have had several good night trips with it starting this time of year.
  15. Sorry, both blades were willows.
  16. I throw a half ounce War Eagle almost exclusively anymore. Much easier to cast than 3/8 oz. I threw the Screamin Eagle and the larger profile one as well. Caught many fish out of the top of cedars and many around bushes that had some wind on them. I think if I would have had more wind, the cedar bite would have been better than what it was. Hope that helps.
  17. Put in at Campbell Point, fished to small island past point 16. Had 5 keepers, 3 smj, 1 kentucky, 1 black (biggest of the day). Best guess was they would weigh around 14-15 lbs. 2 of my smj were over 17.5 inches. Caught fish on spoon, fb jig, and spinnerbait. Caught another 15-20 shorts. Fished from 7:00 to 3:30. Got bit well when the wind would blow a little bit. Good luck when you get to go.
  18. There are smallmouth throughout the lake really. Majority of them are in the lower end, but Baxteris an excellent place to find some smallies.
  19. I remember hearing and seeing Greg Dishman catch one last spring or the spring before that weighed over ten or right at it. Said he caught it on a fb jig.
  20. Did I read that correctly, a 10 lb. on a spook?
  21. Look at your sensitivity, make sure it is not too high, also look at your sonar features and have the filters on low for surface clutter and noise. After that, go manual. A lot of times if you are fishing slow, timber will look like a solid line or even bottom. I know when I fished with Bill Beck 2 Decembers ago, I asked him why it was not very deep in the cove we were fishing, looked like 60 feet, he said that was the top of the trees and when you move slow it will look like a false bottom, your return is reading the same area for longer than normal. Also, if you know someone who is good or even avg. (as I am) take them out and have them show you. Last but not least, find an area with a lot of cedar trees, go over some that are below the surface and see how it reads on your graph. Big Creek is a good area to do this. Remember this, I am only a novice and this is what worked for me when I was trying to figure out my LCX 27. There are a lot of other gentlemen who are more educated at this than I. Good luck.
  22. Fished out of the Knob for 5 hours today. Spent all day up Kings. Did nothing but burn a spinnerbait. Fishe up to Jakee and that was as far up as I went. Caught no keepers, and about 20 shorts on the blade. That was it and home I came. Had the oldest boy, he caught a few also on the blade. First time up the river in quite some time, thought I could catch some keepers up there like I did on the main lake last week, but didn't pan out. Good luck when you get to go.
  23. Fished Fri. and Sat. evening out of Shell Knob, started at 4:30 each day. Started by throwing square bills on windy flats and smaller cuts off of the flats. Caught a few right out of the gate just down from the Bridge on South side past all the docks. Caught first keeper in back of cut, good LM. Went to back of Mill Creek, nothing, haven't moved in there from my evaluation. Moved to Big Creek, across from Big Bay, nothing, then the whites came up, my 10 year old had a ball for awhile. Got through there and moved to just below Campbell Pt. and started waking a spinnerbait and caught 3 big LM, all in the 4 lb. range. Moved out of there and worked way back to bridge, stopped at PlaPort and fished bushes with nothing and then another group of whites came up there, again 10 year old had a ball. From there we were done. Great evening. Took my 15 year old back on Sat. Went to Mill Creek, the one across from Kings, nothing. Moved to the Bassin Hollow area and caught a 3.5 lb SJ on football jig, she was pretty shallow. Went down to area where I caught LM the previous evening caught one short LM. Moved to Big Creek again, no whites, but caught a 3 lb. LM on spinner. Left there and went back to PlaPort, no whites there and no LM. From there went home. Good two evenings for me, really nice to get back out and not sweat my tail end off. Good luck.
  24. Thanks Bill. No more questions for me.
  25. Bill What is the definition of Bluffend? Would it be the one that separates Cedar Creek and Carter Creek, but ends in Cedar Creek? Sorry for asking this dumb question, but just wanted to know. Thanks Fish
