  1. Fished Sunday out of Shell Knob and ran to some main lake points looking for a split shot bite. Didn't find it, so ran up the Kings, found some dirty water and immediately hit a 4 and a 3. Caught several more down that bank and decided I had hit them hard enough. Ran back to the main lake to find that split shot bite, but only caught one, and then ran onto a wind blown point with a cedar and caught a nice 3 lb. LM, and then moved to a bluff with the wind and caught several on the Lucky Craft with two more solid keepers. Ended the day with 5 keepers and several shorts. Was much tougher yesterday than it had been, but still a lot of fun. Good luck when you get to go.
  2. Fished last Friday, we were out of school and also fished Monday (yesterday). Fished aroudn Big M on Friday with the wind blowing and snowing for most of the time I was down there. Had 10 keepers and many other short fish. Caught most of them on a Lucky Craft out of cedars, it was a blast, made me forget about how cold it was. Had a lot of good keepers, and one really good one. Fished yesterday out of Viola, looking for crappie, but did not find any, so went bass fishing again. Ended up catching several bass with 6 keepers all but one coming on a jig, the other one came on a Lucky Craft. Had 2 good fish to go with the other keepers. Fish looked very healthy and bit pretty good even when the sun came out. Hope this helps.
  3. Fished Sunday up the King's, told myself I was only going to cathch 5 crappie and then I was going to bass fish the rest of the day. Should have crappied fished all day. I did catch my 5 keepers and they were good ones and they were shallow. Caught them all off of one brush pile. There were a ton of boats up there. Everybody was mainly crappie fishing, but they were crappie fishing on some of the banks I like to bass fish. Saw several fish on beds, only saw of couple of beds that had the male and female on them. I did manage to catch 3 keeper bass, 2 on spinnerbait and 1 on a jig. Had a bunch of fish come out and look at my fluke, only had one take it. Pretty sorry day for me, but the weather was sure beautiful. Good luck when you get to go.
  4. Fished Sat. and Sun. Sat. just bass fished up the Kings. It was tough up there, not many bites like I had been getting. Did catch one keeper on a jig. Buddy suggested we go to the main lake, we did, and we caught 4 keepers, biggest one around 4 lbs. and one around 3 lbs. Caught most of them on jerkbait and wart. Pretty tough day compared to what I was having. Went on Sun. evening with the wife's dad. Decided to crappie fish and glad we did, had 26 nice ones before it got dark. Crappie are biting very well, some are shallow and some are mid depth (7-10 feet). Catching them on all kinds of banks, not just one particular make up of bank. Hope this helps.
  5. Might not hurt to have a spook or a fluke tied on tomorrow. Just my opinion, but the weather has a lot to do with why the bass are up and chasing. Caught them real good one year on a fluke in early to mid April in Long Creek, but the weather is about the same now as it was then. So, go figure, I will give it a shot tomorrow.
  6. You know, I just thought of something. I used to hate it when no one would be somewhat specific about reports and now I am doing the same thing. There are about 5 areas I am catching them up the Kings right now. They are small areas, but seem to keep replenishing themselves every day and possibly every hour. The white bass was just a fluke, they came up last night busting shad and I threw my rogue out there and sure enough, she ate it and the rest is history for the 8 year old. I will be in a white and burgundy R-93 Ranger tomorrow.
  7. Lilley, that is quite a distance from where I am. Went again last night with the high maintenance 8 year old. He did do a good job with the net, and caught a few keepers, plus a 4 lb. white bass. That really made his night. Had 12 keeper last night plus the white. Not too bad. Not going tonight, need to stay home with the wife. Will be taking a buddy of mine from Cabela's tomorrow, don't know if we will be bassin or going after crappie. Monday I will let you know where I am catching them. Good luck to all who get out to go.
  8. I cannot believe you are still using that nickname. It is hard to get four in my boat, my 8 year old is high maintenance. But talk to your other buddy who has Wed. prayer meetings, he goes by himself quite a bit.
  9. Went again last night, had 7 big ones, and my buddy had a limit. I hate to say what area of the lake right now, as that my freezer is not full yet. The ones I am catching are just like Lilley and Babler said, shallow and deep. They are really chasing shad in the evening. If anyone reads my posts, you should probably figure out what arm of the lake I am fishing. That is all the info. I will give you, but that should be enough. Will be back at it again tonight and Sat. and Sun.
  10. Had 14 keeper crappie last night. They moved up toward dusk and were feeding heavily for about an hour and a half. Biggest was 14.5 and only had two that were 10. Freezer was glad to accept the fillets.
  11. Next time you see me, come over and introduce yourself. Maybe we can get together some time and fish.
  12. That is correct. What were you in? Only caught 2 keepers on the jig, but caught a lot of fish on it. The 3 rogue fish were on the main lake. And the one on spinnerbait.
  13. Fished from the island at Shell Knob up the Kings. Saw water temperature from 49 to 55 degrees. Caught numerous fish today, with 6 keepers. 4 lbs. was the biggest I caught today. Caught fish today on rogue and jig mostly, but did have one keeper on spinnerbait. Had one over 7 lbs. last Friday on spinnerbait up the river. Had a good time today, did not have to dodge many boats and all the banks I wanted to fish were open. Hope this helps.
  14. Went down after work, had time to fish about 2 hours. Took the boys with me, oldest one caught one on a wart, youngest one blanked, but ate a lot of peanut butter crackers and I caught 7 with 2 keepers, on the jig. And yes I was back up the Kings. See ya all on Sat.
  15. Hey Lilley, do you know what is up with the crappie up the King's? Cannot seem to catch them this year like I did last year. Seems like they are way behind as compared to the past 3 years. thanks
  16. Fished Sunday after noon also, started at Baxter jerking a rogue, but did not find any success doing that, so loaded up the boat and drove to Viola and started flipping a jig again, caught 8 with 3 keepers, nothing big, just good size keepers. Water had cooled down several degrees from last Thursday. Still had a good day and by the afternoon, it was rather pleasant.
  17. I fished from Shell Knob bridge up the Kings to about Akin Back.
  18. Fished for most of the day on Thur., caught approx. 15 bass with 5 keepers. Had two good fish and 3 other 15-16 inchers. Fish came on rogue, jig, and wart. Saw water temp. of 47 and as low as 41.5. Good luck, will be back at again tomorrow.
  19. Caught them in a creek, where I have caught them in the past out of cedar trees that sit in 15-18 feet of water.

Caught a couple of crappie, one keeper, caught 7 bass, on rogue, wart and jig, two keepers, one over 5 lb. and one in the 3.5 lb. range. Good night.
  21. Bill Have been 3 times in the last several days (6), every time in the Eagle Rock area, at best caught the one 3 lbs. and then maybe a couple of shorts. What is going on. I know you are very knowledgeable of the lake and you don't have to fish all 400 yards of a bank to find the best spot. It takes a lot of time to eliminate water, especially when you have limited time such as I do. What is the quickest way to eliminate water, so that you don't waste as much time. This may be too broad of a request, but I thought it was worth asking. Thanks.
  22. Hey SKMO, do you ever need a fishing partner on the weekends? I only live in Cassville, but understand if you like to go it alone.
  23. Fished from 2:30 to 5:30 around Eagle Rock, caught one 3 pounder on a rougue and that was it, no deep bite, but I'm not very astute in finding deep fish. Water temp. was 41.5 on main lake and 38 in Leatherwood. Tried to make it up to Beaver Town for a walleye, but scared myself when I went from 34 feet of water to 4 feet, so I turned around and went back down.
  24. How true that is.
  25. Wish I could be there with you, but will have to be here at school.
