  1. Sounds to me like the stripers have introduced themselves....Spring floods in 2008 and 2011 required huge releases throught the flood gates at Beaver AND Tablerock dams.....Thing is, Beaver has a pretty good striper population and I'm just guessing that a whole bunch of stripers came through the dam flood gates. More then I would have thought, but I've heard of more then a couple of stripers caught this year, way down here in the lower lake. (Kimberling to dam)....I say have fun with the ones that are here, but I don't think we need any stocking of stripers.....The old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind....Obviously, this is just my opinion, but I've been splashing around on the rock since 1963, so I'm with Bill B......Don't need any stocking. We can go to Beaver or the Bull.....
  2. Neat story Bill ! Sorry about the loss, but still a neat story.
  3. I thought what caliber and barrel lehgth was reasonable questions.....Anyway, it's a .380 and I'm partial to larger weapons, so a .380 isn't what I'm interested in. I'll bet somebody out there might be. Good luck and sorry you thought I was unreasonable.....lol
  4. So what caliber ?? What barrel length ? What model NUMBER ??
  5. Wasn't that big striper caught below Powersite a new Missouri record? And was Jeff's fish caught in Ark or Mo...? I'm with rps. When they get that big, they are true monsters. lol
  6. http://www.walleyesi...3/howtotie.html Hey guys, this is a pretty good place to learn how to tie your own harnesses. Illustrations are pretty good and even I figured it out about 9 or 10 yrs ago, when I first got "walleyeitis" real bad. I have to give credit to Powerdive for sending me that link back in '02 or '03 ..... They ARE way cheaper if you tie your own, but Rangerman is correct, the Northland harnesses are great. I always keep some store bought's in the boat in case I run out of the home-tied ones. Around our lakes I've found that MOST of the time, if you have some 1 1/2 OZ bouncers and some 2 OZ bouncers, you'll have what you need. Not to say that there might be a time when you want a lighter or heavier one. So click the link at the top of this post and give it a whirl !
  7. The batteries need to be checked "under load".....My first two pro-guides frpm Battery Outfitters went in the boat, brand new. My trolling motor only turned about 10% of the prop rpm's it should have. I checked the wiring and found no problem.....Checked voltage at TM plug and it read 24 plus (volts)......I called battery outfitters and explained my problem and what steps I had taken. The first thing they said was, "It doesn't matter that your meter shows 24 volts. If it's not checked under load, it means nothing. I took the batteries back as they told me. Had to leave them since THEY have to charge them with THEIR gear and then they'll check the batteries. BOTH brand new batteries had 2 bad cells.....They gave me 2 new batteries, which I lugged home and re-installed into the boat......TM was better, but still not right. I took the whole dang boat to them (so I wouldn't have to wrestle those two big batteries) and they repeated what they had done on the first pair.....Guess what. One of the "new" batteries had a bad cell.....That' my friends, is why I no longer buy pro-guide batteries from B. O........They did replace (again) the bad battery, but they whole fiasco left me more then a little PO'd at those guys. As somebody previously said, batteries should be replaced in pairs and of the same make and size... If you get 2 good batteries hooked up, your problems will be over. (unless your TM is shot...lol)
  8. Great, informative report Sam !
  9. I'm still trying to get a more up to date crappie picture, but I've not been out enough to have a handle on em yet. Going to try between now and shut-off time.
  10. Cow Creek is the same.....Dirty brown/red ick. Glad the fish don't care per above posts. I haven't been out at all but hope to fix that soon. Maybe even tomorrow. The fish (bass and bluegill) sure abandoned the dock I have a slip in. I've seen it this dirty, but it seems like it's staying longer then usual...Might just be me though. I didn't dig out any written notes by me.
  11. I agree Quillback.....Looks to be a Meanmouth for sure.
  12. That sounds like the Ozark's Hellbender......Yes, kind of odd looking, but their numbers are way down. Need real good water quality for them to thrive. I've seen a couple caught over the years, but not many...He must have be hungry ! lol
  13. Unbelieveable catches and REALLY fantastic BIG bass'.........Giddy times 2
  14. Marty Ford Tablerock Lake (Lower lake) April 2006 Phil, I'll try and beat this within the next few weeks ! lol
  15. Champ, it sounds like there must be a tourney this weekend (Sunday) ...lol ......Who the heck can you believe ? Seriously, I'll not get in anybodies way. Spose to rain Sunday and I'm way too old and wise to go fishing in the rain. (Grampa said, "Go ahead and go. The fish don't care, they're already wet")....lol
  16. LOL
  17. Quick clarification....I caught One short walley and my friend caught one short walleye.....Both right at 17 inches. Fat & healthy.....He worked alot harder then I did as he was running the trolling motor in the wind.....Thanks again Scott !
  18. Caught 2 today on bottom bouncer and live bait....Between Beavertown & Housemann......Fished about 4 hours. Both eys were 17 inchers, so they are back in the lake.....Man, it was WINDY !
  19. Kimberling City 2012
  20. Kimberling City Feb 29, 2012
  21. Feb 29, 2012 This is the Garden Terrace restaurant.
  22. I'll attempt to attach a photo or two from the damage in Kimberling City. Mainly at the Kimberling inn and home of the Garden Terrace restaurant and Pier Supper Club......
  23. Amen to Bill's last sentence ! I sometimes zig when I should be zagging. Every now and then, something very good happens !
  24. Just a dumb question. Isn't "downscan" and "sidescan" two different (but similar) deals ? Is this a downscan or sidescan ? Or am I misimformed ? Just wondering because I'm thinking of taking the plunge into a new sonar. I'm running Lowrance big screens now, but from way back when they were the hot deal. About 2004 or 2005....
