    Access?

With the rise in water levels, I'm gonna take the canoe just to be safe. Any outfitters in the Yellville area who might help us with a shuttle? Dan-o

    Access?

Thanks Dano. I was planning on getting away from town to fish the creek. Just wondering if some places are better than others and if I could make it very far before getting cut off by deep water or bluffs, etc. I know how tight-lipped folks can be about their favorite smallie holes (myself included), but I hope to read some more comments. Thanks again. Dan-o

    Access?

My wife and I are headed up to Harrison this weekend for our nephews' baseball tournament. I'm hoping to sneak over to Crooked Creek a time or two and swing the flyrod at some smallies between games. Any tips on access points with good fishing nearby (I'm not afraid to do some hard bushwacking)?. Would I be smarter to take the canoe and float/drag a ways up or down the creek an then make my way back to the put-in, or maybe just hit something on the Buffalo. Any help would be mucho appreciated. Feel free to PM me. Thanks. Dan-o
  6. Try Gilbert to Maumee. Some good fishing in there and it's about the right distance. By the way -- CONGRATS!! Dan-o
  7. Great post Al. I can't disagree with anything written so far except maybe the Fall fishing thing. A good many of the larger fish I catch each year happen during October. But most of those come from a couple of rivers that I've fished for over 20 years and know every inch of. Dan-o
  8. Al, I think Bobber was just being sarcastic in reference to the fact that there are some folks out there who actually do want to see the silly changes he mentioned. I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned in your post, but I have to question implementing a permit system for private boaters on a river in which the upper 2/3rds is totally rain dependent for floating. Just my 2 cents. Dan-o
  9. Check your PM. Dan-o
  10. Just got my licks in on line. Thanks for the link. Dan-o
  11. Beautiful fish and good on you for releasing it!! Dan-o
  12. Albert Pike campground is above Lake Greeson (sp?) and like Ollie said, is a really nice place to trout fish in the winter. Below the lake the river has a year-round trout fishery. Google Arkansas Trout -- Little Missourri flyfishing and it will take you to Jeff Geurins' website. You can find out all info you need from there. Good luck. Dan-o
  13. No problem Zack. We should know by Thursday if we're heading up there. I'll send you a PM. Dan-o
  14. Hey Russ. Bobbi and I are thinking about fishing up there this coming weekend. Is your campground open? May also need to buy a shuttle. Thanks. Dan-o
  15. My wife Bobbi and I are celebrating our first wedding anniversary today so I probably won't make it (unless I can talk her into coming along). You guys have fun and post a report for me so I'll know what to use tomorrow. Dan-o
  16. I think what we may have here is a bears' hindprint and foreprint overlapping each other. If you look very close at the photo you can see what looks like toes within the print itself. Dan-o
  17. Looks kind of like the hindprint of a bear. No other tracks?
  18. Catch a big-un' Russ. See ya soon. Dan-o

  21. Hey Russ. Bobbi and I look forward to seeing you guys soon. Dan-o
  22. I'll bet that'll catch a smallmouth or two. Dan-o

Let's not forget my favorite southern jam-band -- Widespread Panic from Athens Georgia, who are sharing a huge tour with the Allman Brothers this coming fall. Can't wait to catch the Dallas and Houston shows Dan-o
  24. I've had pretty similar success in terms of size on the spots and brownies. I've seen one 3lb smallmouth and a couple of largemouth over 5 lbs caught. A buddy of mine owns property on the creek at the Oklahoma state line. The section between Natural Dam and Short, Oklahoma has some great fishing, but if the Pine Mountain darn project ever goes through it will be severely altered (not to mention the fact that it will inundate 12 to 15 miles of good fishing and beautiful scenery upstream from Natural Dam). Fight it with all ya' got. Good Luck. Dan-o
