  1. Crackle backs are great most days, drifted or stripped, I've been using 16's & 14's, brown/yellow body, & grizzly/green body Fur bugs, scuds, sow bugs, copper johns, zebra midges, and hares ears almost always work, really about any nymph, in 14's-20's will catch fish, I fish pheasant tails a lot and I usually catch several fish. Good luck
  2. My Simms G-3's have served me well, not the cheapest out there but very good quality, and I've been wearing the Simms aqua stealth guide boots with the rubber soles,
  3. River came up about a foot last night, it will fall pretty quick, but I doubt there will Be really good dry fly fishing this next weekend, fishing has been really good, mostly streamers and nymphs. There is always a few fish rising, griffiths gnats, Adams, and blue wing olives will work most days, caddis of some sort hatch just about every day.
  4. Yep for kids, adults 7$
  5. 15 and younger need only a trout permit (stamp) $7.00 for the C&R season Doesn't make a difference what state your from.
  6. Biggest for me today is this 8lb rainbow, saw a few over 10 caught, been a good day so far
  7. that will all be good tomorrow, a few san juans and some streamers and you should be well prepared 5X and 4X will work fine tomorrow especially with bigger flies
  8. River looks fine, up a foot or so, but still clear, lots of trout a waiting
  9. Steve I don't think it will back up from the 86 bridge enough to effect the park water is dropping should be good for Friday.
  10. You can only wade the area from dry hollow to about 300 yds below the F hwy bridge, this area is very wadeable, even with the recent rains it will Only be over 3' in a few places, no wading anywhere else in the park during the winter C&R season Water only came up a bit over a foot, it will be in good shape on Friday. High water helps slow down the snaggers.
  11. Zone 3 starts at the bridge below the old dam, all water below that bridge to the boundaries of the park are closed nov 1- thru the end of febuary and reopens on march 1st 2012
  12. #1 is open all year #2&#3 are closed nov 1st- about the 25th of feb You can only fish zones 1 & 2 during C&R Zone 3 is closed till march 1st 2012
  13. Yes 10-1 fri, sat, & sun.
  14. some info from the hatchery, you might find interesting "Hey Tim, we are going to stock 1100 fish this week and then 350 every other week after that for the whole season. We are putting in 100 lunkers also. We are going to put about 500 extra fish in the c&r. The rain didn't do much for the spring yet but I think if we get some tonight it will help out alot."(quote) River is still low and clear, but the rain should help.
  15. Sorry Leonard, you can't believe a thing Steve from Roaring River says, now if Bob from Roaring River said he saw the brown, I might believe him He is Steve's handler
  16. Back when I was single, it was no big deal to load up and drive to the san juan and fish a couple of days and then turn around and come back home. and turn right back around and drive back to colorado for a few days and then head back to the house, getting there is kinda fun, the more the merrier, they were all good trips.
  17. third pic is the current Missouri rainbow trout state record
  18. Nothing but little fish at Roaring River
  19. Springs, there is a couple there and two more lower down, they are all small, and Don't add much or any volume, to the creek, probably just trickles right now.
  20. Yes Dano, the whole city park is public water.
  21. It will never be like the SJ unless the water is regulated, the SJ never has water releases that are extreme, if it comes up from 1000 to 2000 cfs it is done over a few days, not in 20 minutes, but it would be nice if Taney was like that.
  22. Glad they are getting the rocks put in Taney, looks good so far. Hope it provides the holding areas for the trout. Any structure has got to help.
  23. The only power bait that is ileagle in zone 1 is the moldable types, all plastic gulp and plastic power bait products are ok in zone 1, the game wardens told me if it can be molded into a different shape, it would be considered ileagle, if it can be smashed and it rebounds back to it's original shape, it is considered plastic. All moldable or paste baits are only leagle in zone 3.
  24. Olive/Grizzly hackle is my all time favorite, but I carry about 40 different colors all the time. Black, dk. Brown, tan, and gray have always been good for me also. I tie some on heavy hooks and some on light dry fly hooks, add weight to some, they are such a versitale fly.
  25. Caught these on parachute adams, egg patterns, san juan worms and a few on a caddis yesterday and today
