  1. yep, park ends just upstream from the conservation lot.
  2. $60 entry, pay in cash at prarie creek 7AM-3PM Jan 1st. There are also side pots for big striper and big walleye, believe they are $10 each.
  3. whats the public access situation like down there. I waded from the conservation parking lot down to the bridge by the cemetary. There is a barbwire fence across the river near the cemetary and I just stepped over it and kept going. I was about to get out of the water anyway and walk back up the road to the conservation parking lot. I did notice at the bridge by the cemetary there is another barb wire fence right against it blocking downstream access. I assume you could go over it if you wanted. Wasnt sure what the private property situation is there. I know in AR, as long as you didnt cross private property to get to the river you arent tresspassing, no one owns the river bed so thats public property. I wasnt sure if Missouri was the same or not?? Anyone have any idea?
  4. anyone have an idea what the water temps are?
  5. Anyone have any info for fishing below the park?? Where the access is, how to get there, etc. I was down on sunday and drove to Eagle Rock and noticed a large gravel parking lot on the right not far after passing the "leaving RR state park" sign. Is this a decent place to try? I went back through some old threads but didnt find much info on it.
  6. thanks guys. I will pick them up a trout stamp.
  7. my girlfriend and live in Arkansas and travel to Roaring River to fish often. We both have nonresident licenses and trout permits. If we wanted to take her nephews up there (both 3 and 5 years old) to fish for an hour or 2 over the weekend, would they need a license or a trout permit?? I know in Arkansas you dont need anything till you are 16, just not sure if missouri works the same way.
  8. Lucky, can you give me a little info on the one fly or is there a link you can post w/ some info about it?
  9. it sounds like by reading the part of the link below where it talks about catch and release that zone 3 is open to it from "the old dam to the bridge" just not open to "bait fishing". I put the link to the roaring river info sheet below. Any clarification on this Tim? "the area open to winter fishing is from the hatchery to the bridge below the old dam in the lower campground" http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/Documents/12616.pdf
  10. anyone else notice that the river below the dam has a somewhite greenish/milky tint to it??? it used to run crystal clear but the last sercal weeks it has been very cloudy. Anyone have a reason for this?? perhaps lake turnover or still seeing effects from the April floods?? I was at norfork and bull shoals last weekend and they are crystal clear It doesnt seem to be affecting the fishing below beaver because I have still been catching them. Just was wondering why a milky color and not clear like normal. Anyone have any thoughts?
  11. was there yesterday and it was in great shape. actually going to head back up there in about an hour. caught them yesterday on a para adams, elk hair caddis, and beadhead wooly bugger in olive. Lots of fish in the river right now
  12. I agree w/ jason about going back to the white/norfork. Beaver is just a small trout water. Table Rock is no longer backed up into it so it is at a normal level. The one good thing about Beaver is the generation pattern is more predictable at beaver and there is usually more low water there. As for overall quality of fish, beaver has good numbers of fish in it but the average size is smaller than that of the norfork/white. Beaver is a great trout stream, just not in comparison with bull shoals and norfork. Jason is right on the flies. thorw in some size 8-10 olive or black buggers too and you would be good to go.
  13. send Biffle a message too while your at it. he has a "contact me" page on his website. http://tommybiffle.com/?page_id=10
  14. it appears we have a crest.... until more rain comes. 1,131.61 Gates are open 7 feet, only other time they have been open that much was 2008. http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/WCDS/Reports/Data/Beaver.htm anyone remember what it got to in 2008?? I remember it was over 1,130 for a short time but I dont remember how much.
  15. I was up in the clifties as well on sunday. I just couldnt figure it out, I caught shorts and that was it. Did lose a good one on the wart. Your right champ, wind was ripping up there after about 10AM. solid 20-25 mph. Still had a good time. I figured with the clouds, wind, and being before a front they would just be jumping in the boat, guess I was wrong again
  16. I've fished from Rocky Branch up both the clifty arms the last 2 sundays. Had some nice fish on football jigs on the poings and also swimming a grub on the bluffends. They have bitten the jig so well, its about all I have thrown. thought about throwing a wart but we just didnt have much wind either day. Will be out again this weekend. 08 White champion with black and yellow strip and yamaha HPDI. If you see me come say hi.
  17. thanks for the replies. I called Chris earlier in the week and he gave me the low down on them. Sounds like Roger runs them pretty well from what he said
  18. Does anyone have any info on these tournaments at the lake?? I know there is one out of prarie creek next sunday the 21st but I dont konw the entry fee or what it starts/ends. Anyone got any info or fished one this year?? wondering what the turn out is also?
  19. saw them there saturday morning as well. They were just inside the no wake bouys at prarie creek, there were 4 sheriffs deputy cars in the marina parking lot. I asked the guys at the dock when I came in if they knew what was going on. Said they had not heard of anything but they do come out and do water trainings early in the AM a few times a year. Thats what my guess would be.
  20. the name of the dam store is "The Dam Store"(479-253-6154). Also google Spider Creek Resort (479-253-9241), they rent canoes and you can float from the dam to Spider creek or from Spider Creek to Houseman access (about 3.5 miles each float). Im with RPS, rent a canoe and beach it when you want to fish. Wear a swimsuit and wet wade it, its a little chilly but can be done easily.
  21. Look on the map at the Fern/Odessa trail. One of the best overnight hikes in the park. Park your car at Fern Lake trailhead and take the shuttle to Bear Lake and hike the 10 miles back to your car. You pass Odessa lake and Fern lake (both AMAZING greenback cutt lakes) and you can take a side trip to Spruce lake for more greenbacks. You descend into Odessa Gorge, pass Fern Falls, several peaks set a great backdrop. Camp at Odessa or Fern lake. This also takes alot of elevation gain out of the hike. You gain about 900 feet the first 2 miles then hike 8 downhill. Scenery is AMAZING. Another good one is to hike up to Loch Vale and Mills lake its more of a day hike but has great scenery and fishing and you can make it longer by taking some side trips. I travel to Rocky several times a year just to hike and fish. Its one of those special places and you really need to get into the backcountry to appreciate how amazing it really is. Too many people only see it from their car window, if they only knew what they were missing by just viewing it from the overlooks on the road
  22. Fozz I have a brand new 3000 antena I am never going to use. I sent you a pm about it
  23. how long were your pauses on that jerkbait?
