  1. Nice! Did you kill the otter?
  2. I am IN! Just starting the Nick Granato Series for the videos so I will probably do one of his flies.
  3. There have been a LOT of small rainbows in really skinny, fast water lately. Water you would easily walk through.
  4. Although I agree with most of this.....the people that are shouting "land grab" don't trust anyone. Everything becomes a conspiracy. I am not 100% sure where I stand on the issue. The Connecticut River was the first to gain this designation and I have done a LOAD of looking and I am yet to find where people have been forced to do certain things to their land or lose their land totally in that region. I know it is still early in the whole spectrum (being just over a year ago) but I can't even find where there was online opposition to the Connecticut River getting the designation. I just have to wonder why the good people of the Connecticut River Watershed and the bloggers/writers/forum members in that area wouldn't be up in arms about it when the good people of the White River Watershed and the bloggers/writers/forum members are. A quick google search of "Opposition to Connecticut River Blueway" and basically you find reports from Missouri and Arkansas including from my county (Ozark). Now, I know I have left the door wide open for "Well, it is only a year in, they can take my land anytime they want to" and to the extreme conspiracy theorist "The Government has had those sites taken down"
  5. I think it will be the first week of July.....but I am not 100% sure.
  6. I dig the mag, dig the photography, dig the video....pretty cool. On another note........there will be a 100% Exclusive Wise Fly Tying Video in the upcoming issue of Southern Culture on the Fly Magazine. You heard it here FIRST.....and there will be more.
  7. So proud..... I have a picture of the gate too, but I can't show it on here.
  8. Hey guys, I have had a TON of messages and emails asking where the Winter video was.....and, to be honest, I got into Spring guiding season and kind of lost track of time so I give you the 2013 Winter/Spring Review video. 2 for the price of 1!
  9. Very cool. Good casting guys!
  10. Defenitely not easier to cast and unless you are used to that type of nymphing setup, probably harder to fish effectively. Flop cast a big indicator rig, very little overhead casting, and you should do fine.
  11. Best advice.....work on your casting before you go to the water. Tangles are going to happen (trust me) but trying to fish and get better at casting is pretty tough.
  12. Patrick is noticeably lower that McKee.....and it is a STATE bridge.
  13. I like Sunbursts take-out....you don't miss any fishing from there to Dawt anyway, and if you want to fish below Dawt, putting in on the downstream side of the bridge is REALLY easy.
  14. Maybe even USACE.
  15. Dawt, MDC, and DNR.........I would venture to say that DNR would probably have the final say if they didn't like the idea, they hold some power.
  16. Next tyer is Nick Granato. Pretty excited about doing his flies. I am going to mess with some video of my new REALLY cool dubbing brush spinner with his stuff.
  17. The final fly in the Thomas Harvey Series....the Double Rainbow. Recipe: Front Hook Hook - Owner 5304-118 Jig-Style Hook Eyes - Aluminum Sea Eyes Stick-On Eyes - Clear Cure Eyes Head - Laser Dub Wing - Magnum Rabbit Strip Rubber Legs Body - Polar Chenille Rear Hook: Hook - Gamakatsu B10s Tail - Marabou Wing/Tail - Magnum Rabbit Strip Rubber Legs Cheek - Laser Dub
  18. Neither do I.....but I like to strip streamers.
  19. The main thing SA was touting when Sharkskin first came out was the floatability....they test these lines in the lab on still water. The diameter of SS is so thin that as soon as it hits what I like to call "Sexy Riffle Water" it gets knocked under the surface and can't make it back to the surface. In my opinion it is one of the worst floating nymphing lines I have ever seen. Now, I will defenitely say that it shoots line LIKE CRAZY making it a pretty solid "floating" streamer line--except for the fact that it burns the crap out of your fingers. I have used the textured line on heavier line-weights and don't have an issue with it at all, I actually think it is pretty good stuff and was pretty happy that they decided to get away from this "floatability" sales pitch and went to a "shootability" for streamer-type fishing and add sink-tips to the options as these textured lines are best at sinking. AGREEEEED!! Add new lines now and then but don't change our favorite lines!!
  20. That is a great way to look at it. I think the irony is in the fact that SA "changed the world of fly lines" and introduced Sharkskin----and that was ultimately their downfall. Seriously, if you think about it they fell off the face of the earth after everyone figured out that Sharkskin was a horrible fly line as a whole. In the meantime Rio and Airflo made leaps and bounds in their manufacturing. I still think GPX is one of the best lines that was ever made, but I haven't bought an SA line in YEARS.
  21. Right now the river has a solid amount of water. I would say that you would be just fine in the near future above Twin Bridges in a Canoe or Kayak. I would, however, make sure there are no lay-downs that cross the river up there as that can happen on high water years.
