  1. Looks better than stocker size. If you put in the time, you can catch em at Barclay.
  2. wrench and rapp nailed it. the paddle tail is weird good. 2 inch tubes work great on a road runner head.
  3. They are already there FFF. Most of our strikes were within 3 yards of the bank.
  4. Pics . . .
  5. I fished the jettys again at Little Platte this morning with my Dad for 3 hours this morning. I was a great time, but 25 mph winds made it hard to stand up when it gusted. We caught lots of whites - with great average size on the keeps. 14+ inches only on the ones we brought home. My Dad is getting older and only gets over from St. Louis a few times a year, so this was a fun one. We'll have a good fish fry. The fish were on the windy banks again. Caught them all on small jigheads tipped with 2" tubes in white and chartreuese. Pics to come . . .
  6. The white bass are shallow with the cooler weather on windy banks. I fished for 3 hours this morning at Little Platte Park on one of the jetties. No bites except in the small area where the wind was pounding into the jetty. But there, lots of fish. lots. Get out and have fun for the next 2 months.
  7. Both have bigger issues to deal with than outdoor rec. I like the one that lets the states respond to their local constituencies. Missouri is a fine example of the positive results.
  8. Don't forget a white swim jig if the spinnerbait is not producing. I've had days where they wouldn't hit the blade but nailed the swim jig. Same thing applies with the 3/8 jig and craw. Substitute a pumpkin chompers on a stand up jig head. Also, the shakey head for the heavy spots is on the money.
  9. oh, it's poo alright
  10. That is good by me. I'd have hung it too!
  11. How'd they fight, Genome? Aerial? Down and dirty? Curious. Haven't caught a gar. Congrats on the catch.
  12. Chief, he said what he believed. The reponse is on the people who heard it and commented. Same as the Dixie Chicks.
  13. It's a darn fine chicken sandwich Jack.
  14. Tell me more of this "tungsten putty" and how you use it.
  15. If long and slender, probably gar
  16. It went down fast and is clearing. Fishing was tough though. We manages a few and had a great time. But man it was hot and humid. Felt like July.
  17. Coming later this week. I've seen river levels at the 800-900 levels (Windyville) several times on the Niangua. There has been a wide range of water clarity at these levels. Sometimes chocolate milk, sometimes no worse than cloudy. Has anyone looked to see the condition after the rain last night and this morning? Thanks in advance.
  18. Speckled King Snake
  19. My favorite. Get some oil up to 350. Put some cornmeal based fish breading in a paper lunch bag. I use the Zatarains because its cheap. Add some cayenne to it if you like. put a few fillets in the bag and shake a bit. The breading will take without any milk or egg. Fry till they float. You can thank me later.
  20. Fished 1.5 hours this afternoon. 30+ fish, 15+ keepers but only one female (full of eggs). Lots of big males. Next week is gonna be the time.
  21. For those without a boat, now is your time for kansas city crappie. The spawn at Smithville is full on now and fishing will probably be good for a couple of weeks. The lake is low so you can park near any of the bridges and walk the bank looking for spawning pockets. Fished at Crows Creek and the Hwy W bridge today. Lots of fish. Several in the pound + class. Caught all of them on a 1/16 oz jig with a white or white and chartreuse tube.
  22. Man those are some nice cats. Hope to run into you again on the Niangua. Will be there May 3-6. God Bless.
  23. Paul from Overland Park, Kansas. Smithville Lake (Crow's Creek) on April 13 (Friday the 13th that is) Crappie caught on 2" tubes. Females I caught were spawned out. But another wave is coming. Most fish pulled back with the cold front and will come back up soon. It's not hot action, but perserverence pays off. I think next week will be off the hook (or on it!)
  24. Thanks Slider. Which side do you fish in the spring?
