Before you ask, Paradise Creek is not the name so much as the feeling I get everytime I get to float and fish it.
I was able to set up a float with my two sons and my soon to be daughter-in-law. Thier first time on this creek. The morning started off good for about 20 mins. I caught 2 brownies right off the bat, then it slowed down. The creek is running at it's normal level and it doesn't have a lot of deep holes in the upper end.
We were throwing everything from buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, saltcraws, and assorted sizes of soft craws. The soft craws were the early winners, as the fish would readily take them and run. We had several fish boated before the clouds finally went away and the sun started to heat us up. During a slow period I decided to try the spinnerbait again. I cast to a shaded eddy spot with some limbs in the water. Boom, the first good brownie. It measured right at 14". I cast right back to the same area and boom, a 12' brownie. Pretty cool when you see the hit from 40 feet away. I called to my oldest son to get down here because the spinnerbait bite was on. He casts in there and boom, another 14" brownie. Now I'm really in my element. Nice agressive fish hitting the spinner.
On downstream a bit, my youngest hooks into and lands a nice one of about 13" on a softcraw and later another of about 14" , and my S2B d-in-Law is catching them too.
I can't even try to do a complete play by play for the entire day. Suffice it to say that we had at least six fish that were 14" or more. Most of the bigger fish hit spinnerbaits and YUM "Big Show Craws".
The fish total was close to 50, with Goggle-eye, perch, and some big hungry chubs thrown in for good measure.
It was a great day on Paradise.
