  2. i hate shufflers just as much as the next person. heres something we need to try to get implemented here on our home waters. it is a sign on the San juan below navajo dam. read it closley.....it says "to disturb or dislodge the stream bottom for the purpose of attractin fish is unlawful"
  3. Duskystripe shiners, cardinal shiners(if in the right water shed), Red belly dace, are all good species to keep in aquariums. if you want some more info on keeping Mo native fishes, check out Pflieger's Fishes of Missouri.....it has some real good suggestions. you can get it at the nature center in springfield or at the regional office.....finally some of my major applies to something
  4. You are getting excited with flurries? man when i was in colorado a couple weeks ago it was dumping snow at 2 in per hour. and i fished all day in it. here ya go....
  5. thats what they always say. keeping the crowds at bay my foot. if you have any sense stay away on opening day!!
  6. Thats the exact reason not to go in to BPS on the landing and support them by buying rods, flies etc... and all the more reason to go to the quality shops we have and support them. BPS isnt going to have a problem making money but the shops might. BPS will make a killing off of the ignorant tourists anyway.
  7. here are the biggerfish i caught when i was out there
  8. How ignorant can people be. Seriously!!!! Fish don't feel pain in the same way as a dog or a cat or a human. I'd like to see the Trout fisherman that hooks a trout and pulls it behind a boat while it water skiis along. motroutbum for PETA....(People Eating Tasty Animals)!
  9. We were wading. I didnt have the need to hire a guide to drift or the time or money. it was in a hole right above the braids just downstream from the tip of the big island on the south side. Next time im gonna fish the main channel for some big boys.
  10. ok ok ok ill tell ya....i was in Durango and was on the Animas. we caught probably 100 fish between us on the last day i was there out of a single hole on the Southern Ute land (have to get a seperate license to fish Indian Reservation land. but it was amazing. ill let everyone know when ill be leaving so maybe yall can look me up out there and ill guide ya..... troutbum
  11. I got back from colorado on tuesday and caught some amazing fish even in the dead of winter......probably caught over 100 fish and about 50 in one day on a river there (its gold medal water but im keeping it a secret) but i also fished the san juan and caught a 6lb rainbow one of the 2 different days we fished there. ill have some pics to show when i get them off my camera but i also caught a 24x12.5" brown that has been one of the largest fish to come out of that river and it also scored me a guide job there so ill be moving shortly (believe me im gonna miss fishing taney all the time), but there are several rivers ill be guiding on out there including the san juan. tight lines motroutbum
  12. Yeah there are a lot of lakes on there...but we want to try to get it to where fisherman that fish those places, to post their reports from fishing those specific places; if infact those people have access to internet and know about our site. enjoy motroutbum
  13. Me and a friend of mine have had this site operating for almost a year now. It showcases a forum for anglers to post their fishing reports from all of the public access sites that are in the state and run by the MDC so check it out and let me know what you think. http://www.missouri-fishing.com
  14. Ill try to keep posted on here (even the small towns have internet avalibility so i should be able to keep in touch!) Tight Lines Randy
  15. American Angler is a really good mag to subscribe to...especially becauase Zack Matthews writes for them also. My favorite Mag though is Oregon based. Hello

theres a new catch and release season on hickory creek. its the same duration asthe trout parks but you can fish everyday. i worked for the mdc this summer out of neosho so i know that creek pretty well
  17. well i havent graduated yet....next friday. and from Missouri State University in springfield. I fish down at Taney as much as possible. about the patagonia trip....that would be good about the forum topic. i also have 2 other websites www.missouri-fishing.com that me and a friend from school made which includes every public access in the state and a place to post reports, and i just made a blog at blogger.com for the trip but im sure i can just post it in here as well. me and another friend are going down there the second week in jan leaving the 14th and coming back march31 or in april. and we are pretty much going to wing the trip and backpack around working our way to Ushuia and the rio grande and rio gallegos to fish for the big sea runs. As for career plans when i get back, ill probably be moving out west to find a decent job since there arent really any fisheries jobs around here right now!
  18. Yes. I agree with Phil. It is way to early for the temperatures in TR to be that cold yet especially with all of the hot weather we've had until recently. It could be late February before they get that cold. Hopefully by that time, I'll be in Patagonia with a little 3month graduation present to myself. And with as low as TR is and with the little rain we've gotten the Corps won't run a lot of water, probably just enough for the electricity demands.
  19. my biggest brown is 10 lbs 26in long, and my biggest rainbow is about 9 lbs 28 in long both on scuds. neither were gut eaters as i only wade below the dam to the mdc boat dock, and both were released unharmed.
