  1. Do you still have the jigs for sale? Thanks, Tim
  2. Glad to hear you had a great day "catching". There's nothing better than when the spinner bait bite is on.
  3. 6illfo, I'm no expert but the following is what I've been taught, studied and experimented and these are my conclusions from them. Clear, stained or dirty water - aggressive fish; these fish don't give a crap whether they see the line or not. There either pissed or gorging and will attack anything no matter what its tied on. Your only concern is using the right diameter to achieve the deep you want your crank to be in. Clear to slightly stained - aggressive and non aggressive feeding medium to deep; It's now all about the water clarity and what structure, if any, the fish are relating to. First of all you need to determine at what depth the fish are holding. Second would be if they are looking up, down or straight ahead. Again, diameter will vary with your choice of crank. I will tie on two to three lures that I am relatively sure will dive to the same depth. But I will use three different line diameters. Those three don't vary much. I'm a true blue winder at heart and in being so I have more crankbait combos than most people, 7 to 8 at hand at all times. My typical combo For medium to deep cranks is a Revo winch 5.4 to 1 or a premier 6.4 to 1, or eqailifant Lew's TP1, on either a medium to medium heavy St Croix Mojo or Bass Pro crankster spooled with 10, 12 or 14 lbs test Yozuri or Sufix 100% florocarbon. Remember, your two main concerns are depth and related structure. If fishing alone, I will fire three or four case to a target with one set up and if not bit, I go to the next one and so forth until I can dial them in. Conditions and knowledge will determine which line setup you start with. I like to go with the nominal setup and then go up or down from it. Most of all you must know your baits average running depth and build off of it. Agressive to non aggressive feeding shallow, clear to stained; This is typically were I use the heaviest line I can because the fish will be related to some type of cover. Be it wood, rock, stumps or docks. it's all about the abrasion factor here. You'll be banging against everything you can so be choosey with your line. This is normally the only time I go with mono or hybrid due to the abrasion factor of them. You don't need floor in 1 to 5 feet of water, but you'll still need good line and a stiffer rod than normal to off set the stretch of mono. The main thing with shallow cranking is to constantly check the condition of your line. Nicks are like Karma, neither one forgives. Best advise I can give on shallow cranking is cast, crack, bang, dig, sweep not set, land and check that line. I hope this helps you. If you can't tell my fishing passion is crankbaits and the art of catching, not fishing, with them. Tim R. BTW- my profile photo is a 10 lbs 8 oz Falcon Lake crank bait fish caught at 3:00pm on 3-01-12 chartreuse black back StrikeKing model 5, 17 lbs test Yozuri floor on a Revo Premier 6.4 - 1 and a Bass Pro medium/heavy cranking stick, submerged log in 18 feet of water adjacent to a short point. I probably made 50 cast to the same log before she bit. (The only thing I didn't mention was the pit crew did a hell of a job getting the Mountain Dew #88 setup for the race today) LOL-LOL besides having ADHD when it comes to fishing.
  4. Bill, maybe your client would like to fish the tourney with you. Kill two birds with one stone. And he gets a steak dinner too!
  5. Thanks for the info. I checked the Chamber site yesterday to see if there was any updates, but I must have been on it before hand. Thanks again for posting.
  6. LMAO!!!! This is my favorite line. Champ you kill me
  7. Globe article today stated that the Tournament committee scrambled and were able to secure alternate launch sites, a weigh in site and a location for the dinner, but the COE pulled their regatta permit at the last minute. Now that's a swift kick to the Committee's arse from the COE! Makes my blood boil. Absolute BS.
  8. LOL!!!! That's exactly what my reels looks like every time the wife happens to sneak one off my deck!!!!! She can't understand why I always hand her a spinning reel. It's a good thing she's pretty!!!!!!
  9. Good Luck. Hope you catch some. I here the spinnerbait bite is kicking in there.
  10. Thought I'd share this. Article states there are eight still open. Article names Shell Knob Hwy 39 access. What are the other eight? Sweetwater, H Hwy........ ....................................................................................................................................................................... By Andy Ostmeyer aostmeyer@joplinglobe.com The Joplin Globe Fri Oct 04, 2013, 03:00 PM CDT October and the Ozarks were made for each other. The smell of woodsmoke ... sharp blue skies and crisp nights ... the arrival of autumn colors ... Congress and the Affordable Care Act. Say what? Before heading out for a fall camping trip this weekend, better think again, because almost all federal campgrounds in the region as well as the nation — including those managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers — have been closed. That applies to Stockton, Table Rock and Beaver lakes, the Buffalo National River and Ozark National Scenic Riverways, and the Mark Twain and Ozark national forests. At Table Rock Lake, all day-use areas and most boat ramps were shut down on Oct. 1, said Jay Townsend, public affairs specialist for the Little Rock District of the Corps, which manages lakes along the White River. “Table Rock has eight (Corps) boat ramps that are still available,” he said, with the nearest to Joplin being the boat ramp at the Shell Knob Bridge on Missouri Highway 39. All Beaver Lake boat ramps are closed. He did have a couple bits of good news: “You can still hunt on Corps land at the moment.” And the Dewey Short Visitor Center at the dam in Branson remains open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. “We are able to keep the visitor center open because of our partnership with the Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation and the Army’s Wounded Warrior Program,” Jim Sandberg, Table Rock Project Office operations project manager, said in a statement. “We have an active duty wounded warrior soldier assigned to the visitor center. The foundation is helping staff the gift shop and visitor center with their volunteers.” The wounded warrior program assigns wounded active duty soldiers to other jobs within the military that they are able to perform as they recover from injuries received during active duty. Townsend also said the locks at Corps lakes are still operated, lake levels are monitored and electricity is being generated. “That type of critical infrastructure cannot be compromised in an event like this,” he said. No one was available in the Corps’ Kansas City office, but a statement on the website said that all campgrounds, boat ramps and day-use area are closed at its 18 lakes, too, including Stockton Lake. The Mark Twain and Ozark National Forests have posted announcements on their websites stating that “due to the lapse in federal government funding,” all campgrounds are closed, including the cabins and lodge at Lake Wedington, near Fayetteville, Ark. The nearest Mark Twain campground to Joplin — Big Bay, in the Cassville district — was permanently closed in April of this year for reasons that had nothing to do with the current government shutdown. What about Grand Lake? Grand Lake is not a U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s lake, but is operated by the Grand River Dam Authority. Its services have not affected by the federal government shutdown.
  11. lymorej, Just pulled up the Chamber site myself. I hope they can get it rescheduled soon.
  12. Just pulled up the Chamber website and there's no updates on it. Whomever contacts them first tomorrow and finds out what they decided, please post on here asap. I've scheduled vacation for Saturday and I hate to waste it.
  13. X2. I like the looks on the pumpkin black flk also. I think I'll order one each other those three colors.
  14. Thanks for the report Donna. I'm with Champ on the water temp and the spinnerbait fish. I've got a boxes of War Eagle's and Mann's just screaming for attention!!!!!
  15. Thanks for sharing the link. Stacy is as nice of a guy you'll ever meet.
  16. Great report as usual. Hope to get down this coming Wednesday and Thursday. Thanks again for the report, Tim
  17. Bahahahaha......... What gives between those two guys anyway.
  18. abk, I too have the Mojo Big Cranker as well as all of the regular Mojo cranking rods. I also have all the BPS Cranking Sticks. Both brands are exceptional. I have Revo winch's and Premier's attached to all but two of them, with the others being Lew's Tournament Pros. They make for a well balanced set up. The man difference between the two brands is the style of handles. The full corked hump handle of the BPS is fairly comfortable, especially if you have larger hands. I can cast deep, medium and square bills on both brands all day with minor fatigue. I do prefer the Mojo's over the BPS for slinging big cranks, as in 6x and 10x Strike Kings and DD22's. The split grip handle gives you more leverage when casting. The Mojo's also have a bit more sensitivity, which is important if you are banging your cranks along the bottom. I have bought my Mojo's online from Tackle Warehouse and Gander Mountain when either has had sales. Both offer free shipping and I do not have to pay tax due to neither having a store in Missouri. You are more than welcome to try mine anytime you'd like.
  19. Thoughts and prayers to you and Chuck's family.
  20. Bill, glad you are in better spirits today. Thought some of us were going to have to have a intervention or at least a group hug at the boat ramp with you. LOL. I'm honest to goodness glad you got on them today. I hate (and yes it's a strong word) to stink or worse blank.
  21. Bill, I've personally never had much luck with the Seaguar line. Not so much braking off but with line memory and twist. Those old toothy Walter's can cut the best of line. Did you just see one wrapped boat today? I kind off figured a few of them would have made the long run to the White.
  22. You two are correct. Don't use either of these, especially in Aunt's and Mill creeks. They just get tore up and you'll have to order more!
  23. Here's a timeline list of mine 70's - blue back and white floating Rapala minnows and white Sparkle Tails. 80's - Mann's white spinnerbaits and plum crazy Gene Larew salt craws:-) . 90's - same as the 80's 2000's - Senko's and spinnerbaits. 20 teens - StrikeKing crankbaits, football jigs and spinnerbaits. (Thanks Dad for teaching me to fish! Miss you.)
  24. Nice walleye and nice save on the dog. The wrapped boat could have been Brandon Palaniuk. He is known to run farther than anyone else in tournaments.
  25. Me too Champ, lol !!!!!
