I can't completely agree Wayne. They have stopped a lot of commercial interest from dumping waste into our waters and areas that lead to our waters. They have been behind a major clean up project from mine waste over this way too. A year or two ago, they did a "sting" operation in Jasper and Barton counties and levied quite a few fines. Even nailed a few trailer parks. I agree there are some areas that the DNR needs to work on but I wouldn't say that they have failed miserably.

I don't think so Homey. If your craft touches any water outside of your property, you need to pay the full amount! That will only get abused just like free landowner permits for deer hunting. What a joke that is!!!!

Like what??? I floated the Elk a few weeks ago and didn't see anything that was blatantly illegal and or dangerous. I would also venture to say there were about, and you may think I am nuts when I say this, but it looked like there were 2 or 3 thousand people. Maybe more. There was several times I would just take a look from one end of the river to the other and it was SOLID people! You could have walked the length of the river and never got your feet wet! No kidding!! I kept an eye out for some skin but all I saw was, and again I am not kidding, 300lb women out there! Now that is blantantly illegal!!!

I get it just fine. So do others. It may be you that is having a little trouble. WE all are paying to use the river. Whether you use it or not. Nobody is getting a free ride. Out of the thousands of miles of waters in this state you want to concentrate on a couple of hundred???? Or should we have this enforcement for all streams??? That is one hell of a lot of LEO'S!!! You want everyone to conform to your standards??? How often do you fish these waters that you want to control??

I believe that will become the first ever reported case in this state.

Quite frankly I think it is a knee jerk idea to think that a tax will be the cure all. It is not going to fix a thing. People will not stop drinking and hooting and hollering just because some of some tax. How many LEO's will it take per river to get them into a single file line and keep all arms and legs in the craft while in motion? One every 2-3 or 4 hundred yards?? How many will that be per 10 mile float???

I agree with JD. Plenty of tax monies being collected. It is not just fishermen that provide funds through taxes. Anyone that spends money in this state whether they fish or not helps to pay for the enforcment.

I'd say the radio collar. Look, I am all in on the Elk program. I am not onboard with things that are happening with it though. Lets just be very clear that there is reason they told you they won't release the coordinates on where it was shot and it is not the reasons they gave you.

I agree. I am jumping up and down with agreement!!!!!!!! I don't see any new reg's coming with the current dictator in control. He has a definite vision for himself and he is not about to make any waves one way or another. I am likeing me some slots! I truely think that is the way to go.
