  1. Thanks for the complitment Dano but, I did not file the report, wader did. If I am correct he was south of Jeff City near a Rock Island town of Meta. wader - sorry to hear of your brothern in Medford OK. God speed to you boys!!
  2. That is a resume? Alaska is ranked as 47th in terms of ppulation which is what is governed. The people. But I did hear she stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
  3. I love fishing small creeks like that too. The fishing, though as you say is nothing to brag about, can be fast and furious. It is a great type of creek to get a youngster started wade fishing on. 1. It keeps their attention due to good action. 2. You can start teaching them on how to read a creek.
  4. Hey way to go. Just because they ain't big don't mean you didn't have fun. Now did you do this while you were supposed to be getting your 'rest' in Jeff City?
  5. I knew from just reading the title that this was just going to be all wrong. Everybody knows that all republicans think that all fish comes in the form of sticks from the freezer section of you local grocer.
  6. I seem to remember it just the opposite. When my dad and I would go to Stockton in the '80's, we had to pay an on site attendant to camp. I don't recall is if the use of the ramp was included or not. Then some time later they got rid of the attendants and lost jobs. I think we had to pay to launch at TRock too. I was pretty young at the time so don't recall all of the details. Do you have source for the closings? Was it just because he wanted them closed or was there not a need or a reduced need for those stockers?
  7. Good post Al. I agree with 99%. There is one line that I don't quite agree with and it is this one: But than again, maybe we are above average. I not quite sure how you would measure that though. Did you or anyone catch Obama's speech last night when he said: "The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than for those plagued by gang-violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals." At least to me he sounds like he is thinking in the right direction.
  8. Ahh, that is alright Ollie. Like I do for Buzz, I can put you on the big'un's but, I can't make you catch them. That is just a little inside joke between me an Buzz. When we get this figured out, you otta join us. I have done alright in the area. Nothing huge but some in the 13 inch range. I'm thinking when we do this we should be meet in the 5:30 - 6:00 range???
  9. Oh yeah yeah yeah. Hancock. I had forgot all about him. I believe you are correct as I do recall "The Hancock amendment". I forgot all about Wilson. Thanks for setting me straight. I should have taken my own advice huh? I was really trying get a JD a little and it backfired. Dang it!
  10. Hey I showed up. But was at the wrong spot. I thought we were to show up at the mill and after waiting 30 minutes, went down to the other access. Not knowing which way you guys went, I hit some holes on Shoal Creek. Plus you guy's didn't say anyting about brat's and beans! I'll keep it marked down as see what I can do. Sounds like fun.
  11. Creekwader - Allen Bridge access is located on Knighhawk Rd. It is just up stream a couple of miles or so from the Lime Kiln MDC access located on Lime Kiln Rd. Boath of these are just north of Bus. 60 Hwy. And just up stream from Allen Bridge is the MDC Cherry Corner access. Ollie - Thanks for letting us have Shoal all to ourselves. For anyone interested lets look at maybe a Wed evening trip. Nothing big, just float around Allen Bridge down to the first riffle and back. Should only be like a couple of hours. Sign in on the sign up sheet.
  12. I talked to a friend of mine several years ago, when the limit dropped to .08, that is a law officer and I asked him if he thought it would have any effect? He looked right at me and with a half smile said no. You will never stop drinking and driving. Sorry to hear of your trouble Dutch. I have had the same trouble too. Only I don't think they were drunk. They just had a bigger, faster ego, I mean boat.
  13. Yep, looks like you had a great time. Some evening we should all meet down at Allen Bridge and do a little fishing.
  14. I thought I heard that the speed limit is only for night time operations. Question is how many will abide by it and how often will it be enforced?
  15. You would also think some would learn to research and learn biased reporting from non-biased. But what do you do?
  16. No he won't. You will never see a Demo at an NRA convention. I think it is in the nra constitution. Even though demo's own and use firearms. Clinton is great example. He spent his youth duck hunting and I believe still does. I believe even Jimmy Carter spent time in his youth as an avid hunter. But Obama did not come from a hunting background. He spent the majority of his youth in another country before moving back to the U.S. to go to high school in Hawaii. Nor I don't believe McCain had much, if any, of a hunting background either. Though he will appear at the nra, as all republican canidates do, it will be as you say, only to get votes.
  17. Good post Al. I was thinking the same thing today. I am not going to change JD's mind nor will he change mine. But it will be shown to him and others on here that the Democratic party is not evil party of Satan that media and republicans make it out to be. I listen to Rush and Beck everyday on the radio and I watch Hannity and Colmes every evening and I cannot for the life of me figure out anyone with the least bit of common sense believes anything that comes out of their mouths. Its worse than listening to a group of third graders on the playground. Anyway the point is, do a little research. Find the truth. In fact if you do listen to those programs listed, if nothing else observe and listen how the host conduct themselves. None of them are very professional in my opinon. Although I will say Hannity is not near as juvinile as the other two. But he will cut you off the second you don't answer the way he wants you to. JD - I am enjoying this debate we have and this just what I think it is, an honest to goodness debate between to internet friends that share in the same outdoor interest.
  18. Can you list your source for this fact?
  19. Ok, I will give you those points as fact even though I haven't looked them up. It sounds reasonable to me. Do you use any of those firearms you listed to hunt with? Remember we are speaking of assault weapons.
  20. Your right JD it was signed into law, after passing in both the house and senate, in 1993. And both senators from Mo, Bond and Danforth, both republicans voted in favor of it. http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll...&vote=00394 I do not hold the NRA is as high regard as some due to the fact that in my opinion it is nothing more than a republican political scare machine. My father is a member and all I have seen for his contribution (dues as they call them) is sticker, a propaganda publication, and a phone call every four years. But, God bless him, he thinks he doing right. There ploy has worked on him. As far as the Brady Bill and shotguns, I think you may have that mixed up with some other law. Isn't the Brady Bill only dealing with the waiting period? The Brady Law today The five-day waiting period for handgun purchases expired on November 30, 1998 and was replaced by a computerized criminal background check prior to any firearm purchase from a dealer holding a Federal Firearms License (FFL). All dealers, manufacturers and importers must verify the identity of a non-FFL customer and receive authorization from the National Instant Check System (NICS) which often takes only minutes instead of the several-day waiting period. Unless an exception applies or the purchase is being made using an approved alternative method, Brady Law requires that background checks for individuals be conducted before a firearm may be purchased from a dealer, manufacturer or importer. Unless there are additional state restrictions, the firearm may be taken upon NICS approval. Purchases from a non-FFL seller are not subject to the Brady Law, but may be covered under other federal, state, and local restrictions. This distinction prevails without regard to the locus of the sale. Thus FFL sales at gun shows are still subject to NICS approval while private sales are not. The so-called "Gun Show Loophole" would be more accurately called a "Private Sale Loophole." The Brady Law does not apply to licensed Curios & Relics (C&R) collectors, but only in respect to C&R firearms.[5] The FFL Category 03 Curio & Relic license costs $30 and is valid for 3 years. Licensed C&R collectors may also purchase C&R firearms from private individuals or from federal firearms dealers, whether in their home state or in another state, and ship C&R firearms in interstate commerce by common carrier. Curios or relics are defined in 27 CFR 478.11 as "Firearms which are of special interest to collectors by reason of some quality other than is associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as offensive or defensive weapons." The regulation further states To be recognized as curios or relics, firearms must fall within one of the following categories: (a) Firearms which were manufactured at least 50 years prior to the current date, but not including replicas thereof; ( Firearms which are certified by the curator of a municipal, State, or Federal museum which exhibits firearms to be curios or relics of museum interest; or © Any other firearms which derive a substantial part of their monetary value from the fact that they are novel, rare, bizarre, or because of their association with some historical figure, period, or event. Proof of qualification of a particular firearm under this category may be established by evidence of present value and evidence that like firearms are not available except as collector's items, or that the value of like firearms available in ordinary commercial channels is substantially less. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brady_Handgun..._Prevention_Act Also, do you remember a democrat governor that we had by the name of Carnahan? Mel Carnahan? When he started a new kinda thing that when the state budget was balanced and there was a surplus of money, it was distributed to the citizens of the state? I remember getting two checks from him. Not much. A couple of hundred dollars if I remember correctly. I wonder if there is any connection to the fact that we haven't had a democrat for a governor since or a check?
  21. To answer the question as to where he was born: Hawaii. McCain on the other hand was born in Panama.
  22. I seem to remember that Bill is huge duck hunter. In fact duck hunting is attributed to his loss of some of his hearing. Last I knew, pump shotguns is the preferred firearm for this type hunting.
  23. Thanks JD but, but how did that restrict you from hunting?
  24. I haven't fished that section myself but have a nephew that used to fish it all the time from the low water bridge to the falls and back and said he always did pretty good. Keep that girl out there. That is great.
  25. Nice job Buzz. Did you get those by the bridges or the old dairy farm? Didn't do very well at Bushwhacker but the boy's had a great time. The water was what I would call tea colored. Clear but dark colored. Caught a few bass and perch and one crappie while trolling to another spot. But like I said the two boys had a great time and are roaring to go agian.
