Thanks for looking into that Phil. I figured there was more to it than for catching prey. I did think though that the magnified glass played a roll in it.

Maybe Bass Pro should build their own hatchery or purchase fish from a hatchery. I agree with the point about the children, but you may also be robbing a child from catching that fish. It was also said that the fish eat better at BP. I guess the same could be said of the prisioners in jail. They live a pretty good life but I bet if you ask them if they had a choice...... Now for a question.....why are Bass Pro fish always bug eyed? They are the only fish I have ever seen in a tank that it looks like their eyes are about to burst out of their sockets. Is the glass magnified that much?

I can tell by you writings, there is much you don't know or refuse to acknowledge. Not being vicious, I just am not sure how closely you have been following the troubles with the evil stepmother and the redheaded stepchild.

Hey, can you cast on of those my way?

To bad you didn't accidently knock it out of gear. I hate when I do that. -

I would think that with the amount they charge the out-of-staters, that should be one fancy dock and ramp. -

Sure, I'll adopt you for a weekend of fishing. Come on up anytime. -
I have yet to see the issue it was printed in or find it on their web page. I'm not saying it wasn't printed, just not any time recently. I do wonder if the Mo Game & Fish article was authored by Spencer E. Turner. He spends a lot of time in Columbia and Jeff City getting info to print in that mag.

So you are willing to adopt me on a temporary basis some weekend? -
I thought I first heard about this happening a few years ago. It was a success and I thought it was supposed to be happening every spring

$400,000 For A Mobile Cleaning Station?

Ya know, I got to thinking about this today and I think they are on to something. Now IF they would or could establish a season, from about March 1 to the end of April, make it from say, 0600 to 1800 daily and then make where all fish have to come through one of their stations, like you would checking a deer or turkey, they then could process the all of the eggs and possibly cut down on poaching. Does this even sound plausable? -

I'm sure I would. How about I come down there and you take me out in it. Can you make an exception and do a little fishing on a Sat or Sun? Didn't you say that it was an 18hp? Dad had an ol Crosby Sled that had an 18hp Evinrude. The he put a new 65 Merc on with stick steering. Boy the looks he got from the go fast crowd when we would go sailing by. -
I'm not sure you have been following he saga very closely. If you had, I am quite confident you would not have wrote that.

I just don't believe there is a thing called common courtesy. I don't know if it is the way children are taught. If it is TV, Video games or what. It's all about me, me, me. I'm not to sure some of it may not be the fact that we make more money now and are not afraid to spend it. It must be some power rush to have everything bigger, better, faster, whatever. It is sad, but I seem to be part of the generation that started this. It has now seemed to spread to other generations. There is no rhyme or reason for this as I see it. I will never be a part of that. But I will warn you, if you do it to me, even if you don't realize it, I will return the favor. Nothing personal. I remember when I was just a young fry on the water and watching those boys of yesteryear flying by in those fancy boats. I'll admit that I was envious. I wanted the fasted Bass boat on the lake. I can remember telling myself I would have one. Funny how age changes some of us. Now what I would like to have is a vintage Ranger or Stram or Crosby Sled or the like. Just one of those oldies from the era of the early 70's or late 60's. With a vintage Merc in the 90 or 115 range. Heck I wouldn't really mind an even a 40 or 65. I love to view pics or film from those days. Why do I need to run down the lake at 60+? I'm there to fish. Last I knew fast boats didn't catch fish. -

Missouri Conservationist Insults Hunters And Trappers

It appears to happen with regularity. It also appears that vast numbers of all sizes and species fall victim to this sportsman. Of all of the posted fish, I wonder how many haven't been documented that went to the freezer. -

Looks like cabin fever has sprung. Trouters from all walks of life were out yesterday. Hickory was hit by a team of professionals working the waters like a cheap pair of pantyhose on a fat woman. From a report I heard, a bait slinger is now the proud owner of a 26inch 7 1/2 lber from there. The person that told me this reported seeing the monster and asking the man what he intended to do with it. Eat it. I have run into this person a few times and have learned that he is semi retired and was trained to fly fish on the Meramec by an Orvis saleman. I report, you decide.

I was just going through all of post and was wondering if there was any new developments with all of the gravel minning? Hopefully no news is good news. From what I have read here and elsewere, I can't wait to hit this creek someday. BTW Dano, If I come down there, you gonna show me that secret hole posted on here?? Taxi, I know we got off on the wrong foot early on but I would love to wet a line with you if I make it down there.

How To Build A Brush Pile.
Chief Grey Bear replied to taxidermist's topic in General Angling Discussion
There are a couple of ways to drop them in. But of course as with any real brush you drop in, nothing stands on end but you will have more control with your structure with PVC. If you make a structure that is simply just some PVC sticking up like a pin cushion, it helps to use a hook and rope to lower it to the desired placement. Now in lakes with underwater topo such as TR you will have to be very careful about where you place this type of structure for they will be apt to fall over. For TR I would use a different type of PVC structure. It is a little more time consuming in the construction but will work. Instead of 5 gallon buckets use empty coffee cans or something similar. It will only take 3 or 4 but you can build as an elaborate structure as you want. I like to use the smallest PVC for crappie but if you are looking for bass you may want to use a larger size. I don't really think it will make a difference though. I like the smaller so I can make a "brushier" structure. Cut your PVC in to 1 or 2 foot lengths and using a combo of elbow's and T's, start connecting it all together in a 4 x 4 x 4 square with the coffee cans on the bottom corners. This type won't fall over. It will land on its feet. But even if it did, it wouldn't matter. I like to use this size as it more manageable in the boat. It you want a larger structure in the lake, just build as many of these as you like and drop in the same area. Or if you really want something different, build two structure as stated but on the second one, don't use any weights and cap off all ends so water cannot enter the PVC. Then use a nylon line or any type resistant to decomposition, tie the bottom corners of the second structure to the top corners of the first one at whatever length you desire. This second structure will float above the first. In a deep water lake like TR, that could be 10 or 20 feet above or whatever you desire. I think the reason cedars are a desirable wood for brush piles is their resistance to rotting. They seem to out last any other type of wood. That was a main reason that in the early days of railroading, all poles along the tracks were of cedar. Many of them lasted 50 to 75 years. -
Yep you are right. Rapala is the proud owner.

Well I don't know Phil. Jokes aside about the recent pontoon incident, not much money or time is involved other than a days work in placing them. In my area anyway the towns and cities provide a drop off site for used trees and the MDC will haul them to the area of need and distibute them accordingly. What I would also like to see them do is on the numerous CA's cut the cedars and use them also. Maybe they already do that in some areas. I just haven't noticed in mine. The best that I have seen and tried is using 5 gallon buckets and PVC. You can make them as elaborate as you like or keep them rather simple. With the PVC hangups are a thing of the past. -
All good points corey. I would like to add that there are many more house holds that live off of well water outside of city municipalities. And then there again the population in Mo as a whole has grown in that same amount of time also contributing to larger water usage by municipalities. Missouri is(or was the last time I knew) #2 in beef production. There goes another 25+ gallons per head. Poultry and hog production has also been on a steady increase not to mention all of the processing of such. Missouri farmers also use large amounts of water for irrigation. Alot of them quietly sucking water by the millions of gallons quietly out of rivers and steams. I will say in their defense though that some have converted over to dribble type system that dramaticly reduces the water usesage and accutally improves per acre production through reduced evaporation.

Well which is it gonna be, 80 or 68? Fighting for survival and fighting for fun are two different things. Nice looking dog though none the less.
