Thanks for the report Bob. I think I am going after the whites and walleye tomorrow. I did check the regs and they say no more than 4 over 18". Those would be some BIG whites!
Went this afternoon for a little while caught a 5.3lb walleye along with another keeper walleye and 5 channel cats in the 1-2 lb range. Using nightcrawlers in 25fow. Water temp was upper 80s. That is my best walleye so far.
Is there a limit on Yellow Perch on Bull Shoals in Arkansas or Missouri? Not that I have to worry about it, never have caught more than two in a trip down there but they do eat well :-)
Went with a buddy out to Fellows Saturday morning. Haven't been there in about a year. We caught several nice bluegill throwing small jigs to the brush. Also picked up a couple of decent whites along with two LM that were just over 15in. The whites and LM were on small spoons in about 20ft.
Without looking it up. Does it say that your lifejackets have to be out at all times or just when the engine is running? We make a rule of wearing them when the big engine is above idle speed but not while we fish with just the trolling motor.
My son and I fished it this morning for a little while. Only caught a couple of small bass and one nice crappie. The water looked fine and the ramp was very useable.
Went out yesterday late morning after bagging a gobbler. A friend and I caught 5 keeper walleyes out of 18 total. Also caught 5 nice crappie, a few bass and some bluegill, Caught them all either bottom bouncing or trolling in 15-25ft. Tons of boats out.
So if that fish was caught during a tourney. Could you weigh it in? It has a tracking device and additional weight to the natural weight of the fish. Just a thought :-)
It is pretty cool though. Congrats to your son!
Fished for crappie near Baxter yesterday for a few hours. Only caught 7. All were keepers between 12-16in. All were caught on swimmin minnows in less than 10 feet of water. Saw several cruising just like bass and even a couple suspended around trees. The water was pretty clear. The 16incher weighed in at 2.5lbs and is one of the biggest crappie I have ever caught. I agree that they are spawning now or on the verge of it.
I have been out all weekend with my 15 yr old daughter trying to bag a turkey. We just could not seal the deal. We did see several and she enjoyed it though. Her 19 yr old brother was in from college this weekend and accompanied us this morning. As an afterthought we threw a few rods in the truck to try some creek fishing after hunting. The fishing was excellent. Fished upper Sons Creek and caught 15 whites and several small largemouth in an hour and a half. The water was a little muddy but we had an excellent time. Fish were caught on orange roostertail and swimmin minnows. Sometimes its nice to get off the deck of the bass boat and just walk the banks and fish :-)
