  1. I have a H4black. Love it. Probably getting another in the coming weeks when the price is expected to drop.
  2. Here's the shot I got...
  3. Had a little fun this past Saturday below Beaver Dam. Went fishing and took my gopro and decided try and film my casting technique. Here's what I got. Don't laugh too hard. https://youtu.be/lwjV76Q4RQU
  4. Just a sowbug...
  5. Yesterday I got up at dark thirty, grabbed my gopro and my fly fishing gear and headed up to Beaver dam. The sunrise was off the charts fantastic! Fishing was on the slow side, but made the best of it. At the end of the video if you turn up the volume you can hear the horn blow. It's fun when you're two favorite hobbies (photography & fly fishing) blend so well together. Fly fishing, GoPros, & Sunrises Video
  6. I've had an experience or two like this myself in my kayak. I didn't "salute" anyone though (but perhaps should have).
  7. Very good Scott...the ISO was closer to 400. Just a little noise reduction in post.
  8. These were 20-30 second exposures.
  9. I camped up at Beaver Dam last night and snapped a few photos...
  10. Well, since I own lots of GoPro accessories and whatnot I decided to explain how I use them as well as how I organize all those things. Maybe you'll get some ideas from my video that will be helpful, especially if you are new to the GoPro system. One thing to keep in mind before you buy one of these cameras is that you will need a good computer (i.e., processor) and a nice graphics card in the computer. The software you use will require such things for successful editing of your videos. Otherwise, it will either take forever to render the video or simply crash your computer every time you try to make a video. My software is Premiere Pro by Adobe. Just to render this 23 minute video took about 45 minutes. Without the right computer system it would take hours. http://youtu.be/GxmvxuzFhQI
  11. The mount you choose depends upon what you're attaching the mount to. There's a flat mount for flat surfaces, a slightly curved mount for curved surfaces. However, there are also head mount and chest mount options as well. Mostly I wear the chest mount when wade fishing. I've attached a flat mount on my kayak to use when fishing out of it. I take a series of videos when out fishing. You couldn't just leave the camera on the whole time. Your battery will die after about 45 minutes or so. Once you have your video clips from your trip, you have to splice them together and then edit the entire thing the way you want. You will need a high end computer processor and graphics card to run the editing software (in my case, I use Premiere Pro by Adobe). I will say this, since you don't know when the fish are going to bite, there's LOTS of dead video that must be cut out in post processing.
  12. Bead pegging? Whats that? I was dead drifting a nymph under a white indicator. Very simple setup.
  13. Here's an stylized picture of a trout I caught yesterday...kind of cool I thought.
  14. Slow day below Parker Bend but managed to land a few...see video link below: http://youtu.be/MFCtxYzmyX8
  15. Yep, that's where I was...
  16. Here's a short vid from my 3+ Black... http://youtu.be/55Jh9AioPPg
  17. From last Saturday below Beaver Dam. Shot with my 3+ Black mounted on the front of my kayak.
  18. This is the actual fly I caught the smallie with....it's called a "baby bugger". I guess it's not all that big after all...
  19. Honestly I can't say, but it wouldn't surprise me, especially with the water backed up from Table Rock. On a side note, last time I fished this tailwater I caught a white bass, so there you go!
  20. Imagine my surprise when I hooked this sucker this morning! I thought it was a brown until it surfaced. It was a hog.
  21. I was on the tailwater today, but I was in my kayak. There are some places to wade- just below the dam, some areas up from parker bottoms. I've been fishing from my kayak. Regardless, fishing is slow these days. Throwing a big fly on a sink tip line might be your best bet right now. It's worked for me. Got 10-12 today, mostly before 12pm.
  22. I'm posting this story here since it happened on Beaver tailwater... Last Thursday my buddy and I were kayaking/fly fishing from the dam to Bertand access. About a third of a mile up from Bertand I was drifting along the North side of the river trying to stay out of the sun. Of course as a seasoned canoeist, I know that snakes can make their way into tree branches and bushes along the river's edge. As I was approaching a group of tree branches, I scanned them for snakes. Didn't see any. I glanced out towards the river and then back to the branches I was about to go under. It was then that I saw a very large banned water snake coiled around the branch. The front quarter of my sit-on-top kayak was already under it and I began to back paddle so as to get some distance between me and the snake. But I guess it was my paddling that spooked him and he let go of the branch and fell into the front part of my kayak near my feet. I attempted to scoop him out of the boat with my paddle a few times but wasn't able to. He then began to move quickly up towards my left leg. I lifted my leg and shifted my weight to the right side of the boat. It was then that I fell into the water. As I was going in I noticed the snake was too. So, there I was in the water right next to this thing. It was a creepy feeling being in the water and knowing there was a snake that size in there with me. My fly rod also went into the water but a nearby branch prevented it from going to the bottom. I got very lucky. Even though my fly rod and myself went into the water, my kayak never flipped. Had it flipped I probably would have lost a few things. Let this be a reminder to us all about something we already know but never really think about when we're out on the water this time of year.

    Waterfalls

Some waterfall shots are the recent flooding in Northwest Arkansas.
  24. There's still a lot of water entering Beaver Lake but I think they can control it by generating 2 units around the clock. But more rain is expected so they just might have to open the gates again. Boy I hope not....
