Any tips for white bass near the Kimberling City area. Love to catch them-- used to catch loads in south Texas. The bluffs, main lake points, etc.?

Any tips on catching those bass fry eating gills. Love to catch them, and am looking for a meal or 2. Would never keep any fish in the spawn, unless overpopulated. Cannot believe anyone would. This is like deer hunting and killing a doe accompanied by her fawns. I seriously think the 50+ carcass guy should be arrested and have his boat and gear confiscated pending the court process. Also, how do you catch those goggle eye. Have never seen or caught one, unless I thought they were bluegills/////

Lefty, go to www.basspro.com, and on the search type in "fish doctor" without the quotiation marks. Fairly rigid worm, 4" long, and they are fished on the bottom carolina or jig rigged.

Any chance guys of petitioning to close the spawn season for keeping bass. I have over 75 guys who work for me who fish the rock extensively, and I am sure they would be willing to help out. That is an absolute shame and travesty poor conservationists have no respect for our fish.

Being fairly new to TR, I have my boat docked at the KC Marina, and fish from there mostly. Just moved here last August, and only had the chance to fish 9 or 10 times last year, and only once this year. Got in the middle of drop shot time, and it was tough, but I managed to catch 10-12 keepers on points and bliff ends. My Dad from Kansas City is coming up this coming weekend, and I would really like to catch some fish with him, as he taught me this wonderful hobby when I was barely big enough to walk. Does anybody have any tips on the Kimberlin City area for crappie or bass. From reading the posts, it appears dragging grubs, doctors, and finesse worms are good on the secondary points and cove mouths. Also, are the bluffs producing any fish? Thanks!!! Did not do as good as you. We caught 4 fish total, but we only stayed until 10:00 pm. All were Ky's in the 12-14" range-- 3 on a green pumpkin dr and 1 on a finesse worm on a split shot rig. There were several chasers on the surface, but could not get them to hit any type of topwater. Had fun trying night fishing though. Question, if you don't mind: Is it normal when you drag your split shot rig (or jig I suppose) to feel the weight catch on the bottom rocks and logs, or am I fishing too slow? I should drag it on the bottom slowly shouldn't I, or would swimming it right over the bottom work better? Thanks

I am planning on going fishing to the Kimberlin City area on TR with my son for a 1st Night Fishing attempt. I have fished this area extensively, but never at night. Should we try the same spots, flat gravel beds and points, or would it be better to move into the coves? Also, are grubs and jerbaits still good baits? Thx for your help

Fairly new to this area, and am an avid fisherman in TR. Live in Nixa, and fish mainly from my boat in the KC area. Love the clarity and scenery of this lake, and also have met so many wonderful people. My other hobby is nature photography, and TR offers me an abundance of photo opportunities. Love bass fishing anywhere, but this lake grabs me. While it is tough at times, if it was easy, it would not be so rewarding. My biggest bass so far has only been 4 lbs. Look forward to meeting some of you on the lake...

I am new to this forum, and absolutely love the great info the members offer. Hats Off to Bill Babbler, who unselfishly presents so many good tips and tricks. We just moved here from California, and spent most of my bass fishing days in Texas in the past-- Choke Canyon and others in the Dallas area. Did do some fishing at Smithville in the 80's. This lake is tough I understand, but beautiful and great for fishing -- with the patience. We moved here last August, so all my experience at TR has been in the summer. The drop shotting was new to me, but still managed to catch 10 keepers. I have fished here three times in the past month, and managed to catch only a few keepers. We moved around the country for my Federal job for the past 20 years, and luckily this is my last move-- a place we will be retiring to. I made the decision to buy a Pontoon Boat last summer, so my wife would go fishing with me. Got the 18' Tracker Bass Buggy with trolling motor and Lowrance Unit, and I love it. Added a live well, as the factory one was about the size of a large minnow bucket. I know it's not the "state-of-the-art" bass boat, but it works for me. Well, anyway, if you see a tall guy in the Kimberlin City area in a pontoon boat, that will be me, most likely. By the way, what is a Goggle Eye? Look forward to more interesting discussions....

The bass seem a little finicky to me. Went out this past Monday, and caught 2 keepers in shallow docks near Kimberlin City during mid-day. However, later when I came back, there were bass all over the place near the surface, and they refused to bite anything. I tried everything, and they would not bite. In fact, I even tossed some live nightcrawlers un-hooked to give them a treat, and they didn't like that either. Could it be they are getting ready to spawn and are uninterested in biting?
