  1. Carp were introduced as a Food Source and I grew up eating Carp. They are much better eating than Non Native Trout in our area. Me I rather eat Suckers and Goggle Eye but enjoy Buffalo, Crappie, Bluegill and Catfish. oneshot
  2. It shouldn't bother me because I never fish the Park. I do enjoy just going down there. But there is other places I enjoy much more. I like quiet brings me closer to the Lord. oneshot
  3. I'm thinking heading West and if they had been there before knowing RV Camping is at that end. I'm not sure there is enough room to turn around, before turning they could go on across the Bridge and turn around at the access or Sand Springs. I do know we didn't get what they said they was going to do last Fall. oneshot
  4. Ok I went down there today. It will be interesting someone pulling a 35 footer off 64HWY seeing they can't go that way and back out onto the highway. oneshot
  5. I downloaded the MO Outdoors App and really like it, I have found Areas that I didn't know about. https://mdc.mo.gov/contact-engage/mobile-apps/mo-outdoorsWith this, onX, Maps and Information off their site, Outdoor Atlas and regular GPS hey all good. oneshot
  6. Thanks rather have Suckers over Catfish any way. oneshot
  7. I'm fishing from shore what fish can I expect? I like Catfish and Suckers. oneshot
  8. Well just shows how I keep up on things. I live here and hadn't heard. My wife worked for him years ago. He will be missed. oneshot
  9. Actually right by the Park is good. Like going just below the Bridge but there is a Tree there. Like going below the riffle at Barclay and by the Ramp at Lead Mine. Anyone can catch Trout just not as good eating and that is what I want. Go up to Truman Lake catch some Crappy and White Bass but I rather catch fish here. oneshot
  10. If I was fishing for Trout but Suckers have to have it setting for them to find it. oneshot
  11. Well to me it is still up I was using one Rod with light 6 Pound Line, 3 Split Shot and Worm. Cast out and the current catch it and it was gone, reel back in same thing. Won't hold long enough for a fish to find it. oneshot
  12. I know it takes two days for the water to get from I-44 down here but we had hard rains and the ground has been saturated. Have seen the river way out before but this year I'm confused, actually it is staying pretty steady. Actually right now it is good for Floating and Fly Fishing. oneshot
  13. I use 3 Rods and have to find real slow water. Plus place to put my Rod Holders in, have one place I like but there is a Tree there until the river comes up and washes it on down. I could get No Roll Sinkers but their hard to come by around here. I don't mind going by the Park but have to beat the Rod Holders in. oneshot
  14. How many did you catch? I can't get my Bait to stay in one place long enough to catch anything. Like I say though surprised the river isn't up higher with the rain we got. oneshot
  15. The meeting last Fall they was going to take it out but was convinced it was needed so they said they was going to rebuild it much better than before. This is what we got. Another thing is they are taking out the Swimming Pool. Takes half hour tops to catch limit of Trout if that is all a person wants to do. If they have their Kids what are they going to do the rest of the day. Most the other places have a Swimming Pool so they are going to lose people there. I don't fish the Park but I do enjoy being down there but I really feel last few years in has went down hill in a Big Way. This area counts on having the extra income during the Summer to keep things going year round. It has helped with Deer Hunting in the area and Catch and Release Season but nothing for a Big Draw all year but then again do we really want it. I know where I lived in Colorado Skiing was the Big Thing but now they have something for Tourist year round and to me it is just not the same. oneshot
  16. Been raining hard and the ground is saturated but river still lacks a lot being bank full. oneshot
  17. Explained after I reread. The Guy was all the time getting on to me for having my Lights on in the House, Dog barking, me cutting Firewood, me driving to the back part of my place, me using a Flashlight to get to my Stand. Many many other things. He went to work bragging how he finally bought me out and destroyed anything that I had there. But he must have been wrong because I've killed many Deer in Dallas County since. oneshot
  18. BS I remember when there was just a Mud Bank where the Ramp now is. Camping was at Parking areas along the road. The road going to the Range only went as far as the side road going to the Shop and they had to do a study on the area before putting the Range in. Also even though I didn't mention it Bob Hollow road wasn't there, the road getting into the area ran along Jakes Creek. Far as Deer the Guy that had place next to me lived in Springfield said I killed all the Deer in Dallas County because he hadn't seen a track on his place in couple years. He didn't take into consideration that the people were Baiting Deer there before he bought, they put Unlimited Antlerless Tags in, couple years of Blue Tongue and Mennonite Kids came of Hunting age. The Biggest Rainbow Trout I caught was at Barclay, caught while the River was up and only Fish caught that day. Was 6 Pound Test Line baited with Night Crawlers. 6.5 Pounds, took it to Weavers to weigh it. Caught a 6 Pounder back in early '60's in Taneycommo by the 65 HWY Bridge. oneshot
  19. Remember when that Range wasn't there, wasn't a Boat Ramp or Big Camp Area on Lead Mine CA.. Had a Farm up Jakes Creek guy from Springfield bought us out because I killed all the Deer in Dallas County. oneshot

    Weight?

I use Night Crawler Threaded on my Hook. oneshot

    Weight?

Haven't ever caught a fish with Bait Floating. Was thinking going to the Lake use a Slip Bobber. I fish for eating fish and if it is floating all I catch is Trash Fish like Trout and Bass. I usually have three Poles and it wouldn't work. oneshot
  22. oneshot

    Weight?

All I have is Egg Sinkers and have always used 3/8Oz. 6pound Test Line and #6 Hooks. oneshot
  23. oneshot

    Weight?

With the water flowing good I'm thinking I need at least 1oz. Weight to hold my line. Or should I wait until it goes back down? oneshot
  24. Figured with all the rain we got the river would be out of its banks but it is up but still good shape. Still didn't move a tree but that's ok. oneshot
  25. Ok I have always fished just below 64 HWY across from the island on that dirt shelf below the riffle. or the Gravel Bar by the riffle at Barclay. They are both under water. Been fishing both off and on for 30 years and never had the water over both this long, not saying the river is running bank full. I might add I Bait Fish and with the usual weight on it is not near heavy enough to stay in one spot. oneshot
