  1. I've been reading thru the old post about floating the Eleven Point since my wife and I are heading there this weekend. I was just curious how difficult the Halls Bay Chute is? I was in scouts and have some experience in a canoe, but never really been on whitewater of any sort so didn't know if we could brave it and try to run it.
  2. Make sure you get rid of the red meat. There use to be a nice step by step tutorial on the MDC's website about how to clean them.
  3. Just wanted to say thanks to Bill for a great seminar, it was very helpful. Also thanks to Phil for organizing everything and for this great site. THANK YOU!
  4. If crocker boy isn't interested, I might be. How much are you asking for that set up?
  5. just wanted to also say thanks for that crankbait article on your blog. I can't wait for the others you plan on writing...i saved your blog to my favorites!
  6. I'm probably just repeating whats already been said but its worth saying again....Thanks so much for all the reports you guys give. Bill, I was worried when I saw your post with you phone number in it that people would try and take advantage of that. Like Terry said...to me calling a professional guide and trying to get free information is really rude, but I guess some people just don't care about that. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for all you do.
  7. I would be all for making it illegal to keep bass during the spawning season. I really don't know how anybody could keep a bass that is full of eggs and not feel guilty about it but unfortunately right now that is what happens and they are allowed to do so.
  8. wanted to thank you again Bill for your help. Had a really good weekend for once on the rock thanks to your advice. Caught 18 fish total with 3 of those being keepers. All caught on doctors and grubs near pea gravel. Thanks so much!
  9. Thanks a bunch Bill, your post was VERY helpful. I think one of my problems was definately going to fast. When fishing the grub I was guilty of seeing it before it got to the boat. I can't wait for the weekend to get here so I can give it a try again. Do you fish the doctor in the same areas as the grubs? We seem to do alright when they are biting on the topwater, but if they aren't then we struggle. Now I must say that in my opinion there is nothing better than seeing a bass come up and hit a spook, so therefore we probably fish topwater more than anything else. But I have thought about getting a guide to learn more about fishing the Rock. Thought it might be a good christmas/birthday/fathers day gift. Is the $250 for the half day per person? My parents have a place on the lake, so would they come to our dock to pick us up? Thanks again for all your info Bill. Really do appreciate it.
  10. Sounds like you guys did pretty dang good on Sunday. I fished with my dad for about 6 hours up the white by point 23 and 24 and tried everything we could think of and ended up with absolutly nothing. Not even a bite. Tried grubs, spinners, spooks early, x-rap, wiggle wart (not sure what a doctor is either) and tried the main lake, pea gravel point, secondary point. I gotta say I love reading your guys' reports and really appreciate the info you guys give us novice anglers. I was so excited after reading your report on Thursday and then just couldn't find them on Sunday. Guess I don't do a very good job of taking your info and applying it to the lake...its so big and seems like they could be anywhere. "Gosh I am stupid and wish I knew what made these fish bite" pretty much sums up my thoughts everytime I fish TR! Must say my confidence is pretty low after trying all day and ending with nothing. But I am going back this weekend to try it again. any suggestions?
  11. Thanks so much for the maps Bill, they are very helpful. My parents just got a place on TR about a year ago and have been trying to learn the lake. We haven't had much luck when it comes to catching fish. So your maps are very informative and I appreciate you posting these to help people out. THANK YOU.
  12. Oh, ok...I misunderstood. For some reason I was thinking of an outlet store that was independent of Bass Pro. I am aware of the one right by the main store. Thanks for the info.
  13. Hi there, I live in Springfield and love to fish and was wanting to try the Finley. I don't have a boat so do you have any suggestions on where I can try some bank fishing for bass? Also you mentioned the outlet store....is it located around this area? By the way I am new to the forum. Thanks! Doug
