I've never fished a tournament and have no intention of ever doing so...besides the boost to the local merchants they can have their big "High Dollar" tournaments...boats, motors, who can park where...sounds very trivial to me. But that's just my opinion...guess I'm jealous cause I don't have enouph patches to cover up the holes in my shirts, lol

Your fault or not SC...fish like that are a dime a dozen and they're never too big to eat...I've eaten some pretty nice brownies...they just happened to bite on a bad day for them...hungry day for me. I always turn real big fish back anymore...they don't fight as well as a 5-6 pounder from my experience...make few good runs just come up, roll and thrash alot...does work, their line cutting gill plates will set em free faster than anything else. good fish regardless....

Don't fish it but have heard nothing bad about it...they chunk em in there every night...used to be 3 1/4 fish stocked per daily tag sold...weekends were averaged. I'm not trying to say anything except I don't know how stocked fish like that cannot be taken on something. I always wondered if the hatcheries would hold off on feeding the stockers for a couple of days if it wouldn't make them more aggressive, especaially for 'Kids Fishing Days' and such. Anyway the park to my knowledge is fishing well and from reading a few other posts on here they have probably stocked the Blue Ribbon Area with dink browns so it'll be good fishing also. Just remenber try not to net or handle the fish more than need be. Unlike heavy scaled fish the slime on a trout is it's main defense against fugus, etc. JMO but it has some experience behind it...depending on who you ask, lol.

Aint your fault SC...I'd say it looks like that fish has had a darn rough hatchery life...may have been stepped on his fair share. lol
-
There's a ton of pros amoung us...some just have sponsers. No doubt about the fish handling...tourqing those jaws especially on larger fish is not good for them. Like tightline said, money, money ,money...whatever.
-
Let the onslaught of dinks begin, lol...guess a dink is better than nothing, huh
-
OTF...should be able to call the hatchery, they won't tell you the day they stock but should tell you if it has been stocked yet.

MD, couple of questions,..does your jon have a tall or short mount plate on it ( you can always change that depending on how top heavy it makes the boat and is it a paddle jon or square stern? My old jon had a motor jack on it that worked great...ran a long shaft for years and had the plate set where I could jerk the motor clean outta the water if need be. Just thinkin on your problem...I'm thinkin a motor jack might help alot w/your 18 horse....maybe not but worth a thought.

I may be mistaken but I believe Gavin is saying he could care less about fishing the trout parks and all the hype that goes along with it.

Wrench, correct me if I'm wrong...chances are if it's pistols at dawn Pat will be shooting 'The Sleeping Man', lol

Didn't mean to hijack your thread, sorry about that. I was refering to Mo. waters. I mainly fish the current and never fish the parks and a 15 lb bow or brown is not common at all. Waters like Taney, the White etc. are big enouph to support better numbers of larger fish. I have never landed any trout period that will go 15...have seen some in Taney and a few on the current that would be around that but on the Current a fish that size is rare. In all my years of fishing the Current I hooked 1 that I lost and have seen probably 2 or 3 more that would push that mark...few and far between. Guess we all have our definition of what a lunker is...we all have different standards and probably depends alot on the water we frequent...to me a 10 lb. trout of any color is a hog on the Current.

Pretty fish...appears to be a nice little stream.

I'll split it with ya laker, lol...does sound better

Would like some info on that too...have a couple of buddies that have run up towards dawt mill to a certain shoal and tore the piss out of em, nice eyes and some big stripers. They said it was a heck of a good fight on the fish due to the current...would like to go down and try it when they are on...live 3 hrs. away so for now I guess I'm stuck with these stinkin trout, lol. thanks in advance for any info

Pose a question to you guys. Far as trophy size fish everyone has an opinion and no-one is really wrong just personal preference. Which of the following would be more of a trophy. A 6 pound smallie A 10 pound rainbow A 15 pound brown I would take the smallie...what say you all ?

Defemation of character, infringement rights...it could get nasty, lol... Maybe we can settle this like men...we just all need to hook up and fish it out...I'll share a couple of my 'Pets' with you guys or we can chase the ever elusive dinks...you guys make the call.
-
You have the right mindset...it makes a huge difference. I've had my share of bs wrong...keep goin hard as you can...it's all we all can do. If I can EVER lend you a hand doing anything...I have some friends with private lakes and stuff, be more than glad to accomodate...you just say the word. Had a friend years back that lost a hand in an accident. Bunch of friends devised him an apparatus (reel) that strapped to his forearm and he used his other hand rigged with a battery powered button that reeled for him...worked pretty darn good and was a good thing for all involved. Stay strong, rely on your faith, family and friends and you'll be trungin the creek banks before you know it.

I change out the hooks that come on rapalas...generally use mustads (hooks you are using are good hooks). I fine tune the way my plug does it's thing in the water with hook weight also. Heavy hook on the nose and a big 75 lb. rated barrel swivel will keep it down better...especially when you work your plug like I do. I think wrench thought I was nuts...for a bit, lol. I always use a hook comparable to what's on there, most the time as large as I can go without them hanging on each other. Some plugs I take hooks off and leave em off for certain applications...we all have our little 'tricks to the trade. My pennies worth

I gave you your options, lol Trying to intice you...flies, different strech..how am I doin ?? Guess I'm gonna have to e-mail you what I really been catching, lol
-
'Evil Brownieman' LMFAO...you smart a$$, lol, you are gonna make that stick aint ya ?? That's the ones I was thinking of...One of them is where my knife comment came from...they hang good...sometimes in a strong current I've had to motor up past them to get em up, a real bitch. Those sob's have given me and a buddy a couple of close calls...no more, we finally set them free below bagnell, you know...the underwater salvage yard, lol. Thanks for lining my old butt out buddy.
-
Kinda off topic but I gotta say...Doc Watson...just hearing his name brought back good memories, thanks. One of my all time favorites "The Tennessee Stud"
-
Would somebody decribe one to my stupid butt...probably have seen one but curious which one you guys are talking about. Most important thing I've learned with any anchor...keep a sharp knife handy. If you anchor in spots where you really shouldn't a sharpe knife can get you out of a jam...rather lose an anchor than a life, boat, whatever.
-
Decent idea I guess...appears everyone is trying to drum up business in the slowing economy. I'll keep my comments on lunker patches to myself to avoid suffering the wrath of the board, lol...I can see where they are great for some, especially the kids.
-
LMAO...I don't think any of us really want to know what's been sank by Cheney...pretty apparant what he's kept afloat, lol

Forgot to mention...was wading back downstream last night in the dark, no flashlight. Was crossing a little calm pool just before getting outta the water and a beaver smacked his tail just a few feet from me...don't know if I startled him or he startled me the most. Those beaver tails make one heck of a pop when it is quiet...darn near sound like a gunshot when they get a good flat smack...he probably knew good and well what he was doing, lol.
