Laker ended this thread yesterday...thought myself it was a pretty good ending, after all, they are called 'Short Stories' I have a feeling several others were getting some good lauphs out of that thread and I hated to see it end. This world is getting harder by the day to find humor in...it's really a shame but is what it is, ya know. If the humor gets a bit sick at times users don't have to read it...pics are one thing but words are another. It's all our choice to look, read, whatever and if we don't care for it don't look but pics can slap you in the face pretty fast. Not long ago real late at night someone posted some porn pics that made it through...I sent Dano a pm and he canned it asap. It's a porn filled world and smut sells, unfortunately. IMO the thread we had going was not that bad but I reckon it's in the eyes of the reader or owner....I sure as heck don't pay the bills, lol. JMO but birds like that are most likely from populated areas or used to seeing people. At a place I worked at years ago we had a kinda resident Osprey...it was really neat watching that bird hit the water and snatch fish right in front of us, then he would just sit on a limb and take his sweet time eating his catch. We didn't think much about it but I reckon that was pretty unusual. One more cool experiece I had on the river one time...was fishing and looked upstream and saw something swimming in the river. As it got closer I could see it was a big buck, could hear dogs upstream barking so I guess he was gettin rid of those dogs. I slowly backed up by a rootwad, froze and just waited. The river was narrow and pretty deep where I was standing and when the deer got right beside me he turned his head away for a second and I reached out with my rod tip, touched him on top of the head and said howdy. He turned away from me and headed for the bank on the other side and like to broke his neck gettin outta there. He was a big 10 pointer...don't know if he was happier gettin away from me or the dogs...probably both, lol. I would say that incedent is pretty rare...I've seen more deer in the river swimming but touching a big buck like that I'd say is a once in a lifetime experience...not common to say the least. later on

You all know I'm funnin here, surely. I don't recall my 1st fish but I still have my 1st rod and reel...after I learned a little more about fishin my dad stepped me up from a Zebco 202 to a 909. The whole lot is in this pic...my old 909 has a bent handle from me stepping on it while it was laying on the bank of a pond...don't recall the first fish but do remember how mad I was at myself when I bent that handle...it was almost brand new. I need to make some new grips for my old rod so I can use that puppy some more...that old steel rod has some backbone to it, lol. Don't remember lots of things but I can take you right to that pond and show you right where that rod and reel was layin when I stepped on it. Funny how certain things get burnt in those memory banks that you can't forget even if you wanted to, ya know. Toe jam makes a deadly fly...disolves slowly and the scent drives them stupid bo bos crazy. Yep...the secret's out now, that world record brown I just caught was soaked in toe jam water for several days, I had a feeling it would work, lol. Almost forgot...I got a place down on the Current for sale right above the nicest hole on the river...I'll let it go cheap. I can remember (barely, lol) back in the day Rockaway Beach was more alive and kickin than Branson. I've heard my father talk about the White River when he was a younger man...sure would have enjoyed seeing the River the way God meant it to be...a classic example of the 'Human Control Factor'. Whatever...there's 2 sides to every coin I reckon. Kyles longboats are the best attempt I've seen to bring a little of the "Good Ole Days" back. My grandad delivered plugs, flies and poppers to the lakes that did exist back then. Anyone happen to remember "The Judges Baitshop"?.
