  1. Nice pics..that river has alot of unique bluffs. Over-all, that river has to be one of the prettiest float trips anywhere...just don't get much better. thanks for sharin
  2. That's great...a good day and that's a real nice white...I agree with TL about holding the fish. My itchin's gettin worse, lol
  3. Your humble opinion gave me a good laugh...tho. thanks...needed it
  4. I got stuff poppin up everywhere...all i have room for is 1 small raised bed but have lots of plants and mainly native wildflowers. Have a water garden I made a few years back...kids love it and I like the sound of the water. Always try to put native fish in the little pond every year...not as trendy as Coy Carp...oh well, lol. I've been working a little on the yard in general...gotta be my favorite time of year. Wish I had a big spot for a garden...especially with the ever rising food prices.
  5. Over the years technology has made many things easier and more efficient (unless your an old fart like me)...then there have been times it's a struggle for my stupid (or should I say ignorant) old a$$ to learn it. Mind you this is just my opinion, I'm not looking for an arguement..Fish finders, gps systems, all the fancy gadgets out there anymore seems to have taken away from the over-all skill level of fishing. Used to one had to observe the lay of the land and bank lines to figure out where the flats, bluffs, river channels, etc. were. Had to use landmarks and reference points to recall hot spots and structure you had found. Almost all of us have such gadgets...I just wonder how some would do without the gadgets...depend on instinct and knowledge of the water and land itself. About the only thing left to be figured out these days is feeding patterns and bait preference. We have monitors that pretty much do all the rest for us. I would be curious to see a tourney where there were no eloctronic devices allowed...to me that would show more true skill on the fishermans part than relying on all the gadgets. Like I said, I'm not lookin to agree or disagree with anyone...just looking for a decent discussion.
  6. I just wish I had the money for that kind of equipment...maybe I could afford to pull the junk I've got to the lake a little more, lol
  7. CWF, You're makin it sound more and more like 'Bassemania'...'glitter boats..lmao
  8. Then how do you know cheating happens all the time? Are you just guessing that it does because you don't like tournament fishing? I'm just saying... you sure are making alot of judgements about something you don't know or care anything about. I'm like t1365, I fish tourneys also-- so I guess that makes me an ahole and a cheater and everything else bad that you can imagine Whack'em It's all good and I am throwing out some speculation there, apologize for that...just cause It's not my thing I don't have anything against it and I'm sure most participants are good honest guys. That being said seems they have always had a problem with the FEW that do try to cheat...all I'm saying some have been caught cheating and I'm speculating some have cheated and not been caught (these guys are a perfect example)...don't think drawing that assumption is to far out there. The tourneys aren't my thing but I have nothing at all against the ones who fish them...I can see where they are alot of fun for some folks...as long as fisherpeople are respectful of each other on the water that's all that matters. Whatever the reasons may be we are all just trying to catch fish...we each have our preferences and there is no right or wrong method with the exception of cheating...there is no honor concerning that.
  9. Thanks for the report SF, much appreciated...gonna have to spool up all the heavy stuff and start getting the boat ready...got an itch needs scratchin, lol. Catchin birds on grubs too ? thanks again
  10. LMAO...that's hilarious they didn't see you...just hope to heck they didn't win a dime. That's what the 'Money' aspect turns some into...really too bad but happens all the time, probably more than we know.
  11. I agree laker, If you're hungry it's a put and take fishery...keep whatever the laws say you can, after all...we pay for them. Within reason the larger fish eat fine...some have fillets pink as salmon just be sure to clean all the bloodline off. I enjoy them broiled with various spices on them....salmonoid species are some of the healthier fishes you can eat...good and good for ya.
  12. Don't sound good buddy, I agree generally the last of april into the 1st of may is when they start getting it good...seems like when the water temp hits about 60, 62 is the time. Just curious, do you know George, Charles, Chuck...any of those guys ?...they are there almost every weekend on the east side, all sleep in their trucks in the parking lot. That's where I see slider some if I'm not mistaken...if sliders who I'm thinkin of he likes slinging spoons for birds...don't we all that go there, lol Maybe we'll get some rain and they'll run some water...makes all the difference in the world. Thanks for the info
  13. [2008 rains affect 2009 trout stocking Stocking will be down 10 percent in most waters. JEFFERSON CITY–The effects of last year’s record rainfall continue to be felt a year later, with an announcement that the Missouri Department of Conservation will reduce trout stocking. “One exception to the reduction is the trout stocking program at Fort Leonard Wood. Another is the winter trout fishing program at urban lakes, for which the Conservation Department buys fish from other hatcheries. -Jim Low- Just my opinion and an observation...looks to be they are not cutting back on the urban stockings unless I'm reading it wrong...I wonder...surely they wouldn't cater to where the votes are at...
  14. Sounds great...that's what it's all about...we do need some water in this area. Sounds like you caught a few quality fish...catchin's always a bonus, lol.
  15. Has anyone heard or been to TR. tailrace. Time has to be gettin close for whites and birds with the warmer temps. Can't get any info from Jenny at The Station...anyone know what's up with that or is it my stupid butt again, lol. Just got the hankerin for a good bend in my rod...thanks in advance...
  16. I don't disagree with anything anyone has stated. Just from what I have seen in my days money puts a different twist on things that otherwise wouldn't matter as much...no matter what it is. Just the nature of the beast. Fishing is a great sport, job, activity, hobby, whatever and to each their own. Sometimes I feel money gives fishing a different motive than just enjoyment which I feel it should be for each of us. I'm not gigging anyone...just question the motives involved sometimes. Guess it's the world but I think it's too bad money has such an influence on many things...one of the best motivators I know of...just wish it were not that way sometimes.
  17. I have nothing against the ones that fish the tourneys unless they have a mountain of an ego...to each their own, But you're right, I don't care much for the hype of the tourneys but it really matters not to me...no skin off my back, lol. I mainly river fish so they don't bother me in the least...there's good and bad aspects of most things, just the way it is.
  18. Don't know much about it but why are there camera boats ? To keep these 'Pro's' on the up and up ?? If that is indeed the reason that does not speak well for the 'Pro's.
  19. I guess that would be the 'Bassamania Stage', lol...sorry, couldn't resist.
  20. LMAO...gave me a good mental picture of that one...smoke screens, sparkling fountains, 'Bassemania lol...good comparison laker
  21. Most of the park lunkers are just worn out old broodstock fish that have been milked, pretty much just mishandled. Once they reach a certain size the quality and fertility of their eggs really decline. I realize this has to be done but some that hit the water, bank, rocks, whatever are on the verge of dying when they are stocked. My buddies and I always refer to the park bo bo's as mush meat anyway...I know alot of people like them, myself...smoked is about the only way I have found them to be very good eatin at all. It's said you are what you eat...growing up on 'Trout Chow' makes for pellet meat..no comparison to a trout that has been in the stream for awhile. jmho
  22. The more I read of you all's comments the more rediculous it all sounds. JMO but all this bass hype is just big boys and their toys, ya know...just all seems to be about the almighty dollar as are too many things anymore. I watch a little fishing on tv but can't stand to watch the tourney stuff or lmb fishing period...nothing against it just don't understand the attractant except for money. I don't want advertising all over my equipment even if they pay for it all. Big fancy boats, trucks, equipment racing from hole to hole at breakneck speed, whatever...sorry just don't turn me on. If they are truely pros they would not treat the fish in the manner they do ...bags, tubs with fish flopping around...holding decent fish up and darn near dislocating their jaws, uh uh. I know probably few of you agree with me I just don't feel this is what fishing is meant to be...as a matter of fact I don't think there are even pro's...you're either a good fisherman or not...I guess any good fisherman has the right to call him or herself a 'Pro' or does it have to be a rich mans deal ?? I have caught alot of big trout...does that make me a professional trout fisherman?... thought I was just a simple country boy, emphasis on simple, lol My worthless 2 cents worth.....
  23. Is live bait considered a lure?, dumb question huh, lol...probably not but thats what all lures try to mimmick. Speaks volumes to me. Live bait is a hassle to get and keep alive but the power of it has been proven time and time again over the years for me.
  24. The only access where you can stay all night without paying is Parkers Ford...not much room and just a little halfway level ground but you are right on the water and good water. If you get there it's kind of 1st come first serve, ya know...but it is a nice FREE place to set up if you can catch it lucky with no-one there...last place I know of left where you don't have to pay...probably not for long, lol. Montauk is like camping in the middle of a stinkin trailor park...not my idea of camping..
  25. Thought I would throw on a few generations of catches myself Mother in Law Father Daughter Probably not much to some but memories I'll always cherish
