Would like to go hunting on Friday but I have no clue where birds are. (Yeah I know go scout but I have a job and 2 little kids) I live in Springfield and I've got a kayak. Does 4 Rivers have any birds? Thanks

I hunted Warsaw on Sunday morning and it was horrible, saw 4 mallards that sat on the treatment ponds and about 3 groups of divers that had no intentions of landing anywhere near us -
Good job on Saturday, I would have thought today would be tough with absolutely no wind and sunny skies. I'm still debating if I go to 4 rivers tomorrow for ducks or try to hit Stockton for a deer. AAARRRGGGHHHH decisions

How busy will the duck parks be? I've got a kayak so I can get the the smaller pools which may help. I'm guessing there will be a bunch of teal still around as warm as it's been

Went out again Christmas Eve and learned even more. Went left two pools over which seemed to be where the birds were and no boats as they had to pull over the road to get to. Had to move three times to get to where they really wanted me to be. Finally got a crack more than one shot and figured out I was looking over my barrel which helped the next time and I finally dropped one. But that was that and I had to get home for dinner. Birds were flying all morning but very skittish, either I needed to work my decoys or work on hiding better.

Thanks for the help, went to unit 4 because that's where Google Maps took me. Found a spot in the flooded trees and camped out. Learned a bunch about decoy placement and working on my shooting lanes while in the trees. Had a fair amount of ducks work and should have probably come home with a few but the stars didn't align. Gonna try it again tomorrow

Thinking of going to a duck park on Tuesday, I live in Springfield, and I do have a kayak. Any suggestions on which one to check out, also how early do I have to get there. Thanks

I'm might try tomorrow and Sunday for sure, probably head north around Warsaw, not many birds down here where I usually hunt

After having the river to myself on my first jump shooting outing, I'm really scared that a lot more people will be out this weekend, last weekend was a blast and I want to go again. I know I'm selfish.

Had to keep after it today and floated the river south of town. Lots of birds on the water in big groups gaddys and mallards. If I wasn't such a terrible shot I could of had a limit easy. Took home a gaddy and a goose

I hit a spot close to home on the river tonight, paddled upstream and knocked some out of an eddy, whiffed . Met some guys floating down the river and they had a nice mixed bag and a goose. Set up in the eddy hoping something would fly by.... nada. Gonna hit it again tomorrow

I've been duck hunting for awhile but I've always gone with buddies, usually near Warsaw. This year I've struck out on my own hunting from shore or in my kayak. Too bad I've picked one of the slowest years, I've been to Stockton 4 times and shot one duck. I'm game for anywhere in SWMO

Every once in a while with a metal screw lid like pictured above. I could open the bottle without pulling off the sealed ring. I'm guessing that's what happened

Went back down but this time in the afternoon, very windy and lots of water. Fished behind MacaDoodles. Fished mainly with powerbait. Bite must have been over because I got lots of reactionary hits but not many takes. I'll try again next weekend but make sure I get there in the morning.
