Hey, I'm the guy you took a picture for. Thanks for taking it for me, it turned out great. I can't post the picture right now because my laptop doesn't take xD cards, which is what's in my camera. I'll try to post the picture from my desktop computer when I go home for Thanksgiving break. I also managed to land a 5-6 lb rainbow in the fly water and lost a 3-4 lber that was feeding right behind the bigger one. I had my best luck on a primrose and pearl midge. It seemed like the fish wanted the shiny flies more than the natural colored ones. I'm guessing this will change as the season goes on and they get caught a few times. The weather was perfect (except for the wind) and the crowds weren't too bad after about 10 AM. Austin

If you keep taking 63 past the lane springs access you will drive over the little piney. Make a left after the bridge and you can park down by the stream. If you fish downstream from the bridge, you'll end up at the lane springs campground pretty quickly. Hope this helps. Austin

I was fishing the Current November 5th (right below the cable) and also heard about a mountain lion sighting. I fished down to the rock garden, and on my way back up I saw a guy working his way downstream below the lagoons. I fished at the cabins for just a couple minutes, then walked back to the car and this guy had already beat me back. After talking to him for a minute he told me about a mountain lion that came down off the bluff and got into the stream fairly close to him. He said he slowly backed out of the stream and after getting out of sight of the mountian lion, he ran back to his car. His story seemed pretty credible and he had lived in Colorado, so he's seen them before. He told me he was going to look for a park ranger to report it too, but this was between the end of the park season and the opening of catch and release so I don't think anyone was around. Later that day I told a freind of mine that lives in the area this story, and he told me a mountain lion had been caught on a game cam in Salem a week or two earlier. I think the story was in the Salem paper. Austin

Unbelievable game by the cards tonight. I'm gonna fish the Current River tomorrow to celebrate and hopefully come back to watch a Cardinals win. Go birds!!!

The event was a lot of fun. Thanks for hosting it. I really hope you guys do it again next year and even more people show up ... I felt a little guilty going home with over $200.00 in attendance prizes. It was great meeting other people who fish the Current and getting to fish with Arofishing. He's a great guy and a good fisherman. The fishing was excellent in the morning, I caught close to 30 fish between 8:00 and 1:00. After it started raining hard the fish seemed to shut down a little bit but I still managed to catch 8 more before 4:00. The highlight of the day was a 20" brown, 19" rainbow, and a couple around 18". I also lost another 20" brown and a 20" rainbow. Overall I would say the fishing was really good. I'll try to attach a couple pictures of the bigger fish later today. Arofishing check your PM.

I got to the park around 12:30 and started fishing downstream until 2:00, then headed upstream for another hour. In all I caught 15 with the biggest going 15 inches. Most were caught on a hares ear or wollybugger, and one came on a stimulator. I drove around looking for the lower access, but couldn't seem to find it. Does anyone know what road I need to turn on? I didn't see any signs of a conservation access. Austin

Thanks for all the replys. I didn't see any snakes but I was definatly looking. Iv'e been trying to figure out where the other access areas are but haven't really looked around enough. Are the access above or below the park/baseball field, or are there some on both sides? I used the big bead head hares ear after reading all of Tim's reports. I was surprised at how deep some of the holes are, and the extra weight helps. Austin

I fished crane creek from 3:30pm to 5:00pm today. It was my first time fishing this creek and I ended up catching 8 rainbows between 10 and 13 inches. I also had 6 more hooked including a 16 incher that broke me off. I started fishing at the footbridge and ended by the baseball field. Is this one of the better areas, or shoud I try somewhere else next time? I couldn't find any other easy access points. Austin

That is a great tip, I don't know how many times I've tried to land a fish and been hooked by the dropper fly. Usually when I fish a small dry fly I watch the area that I think it is in and if I see a rise I set the hook. Austin

What size of tippet were you using? That could have been your problem. Austin

Im also headed to springfield for college. I know that crane creek and tanycomo are fairly close for trout but Im not sure about smallmouth. Maybe we can meet up and fish together sometime. Austin
