  2. I'll be there for the White Bass Seminar/Fish Fry. I guess I'll catch up on NCAA action later tonight. Don
  3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ignorance and apathy are the principle enemies of freedom, surpassing even evil intent. Misguided good intentions are their greatest ally."--Myself How true. Good one. Don
  4. Great report and pics Phil, I really need to get down there soon. As previously stated by the late Bill Ring, "If you're too busy to go fishing, you're just too busy." Don
  5. Troutchaser, you're welcome to be on our team if you want. Don
  6. I'm just bumping this thread because our team needs one more to make four. Thanks.....Don

Nothing is wrong with a friendly and somewhat competitive tournament. Tournament or not, I usually point out violations in a friendly way by starting out "Did you know that.......?" and ending with "I thought I'd save you a couple hundred dollars in fines before the game warden caught you." I've gotten replies that it was none of my business, whereas I proceeded to explain how it was by business, in detail at times. Other times I was asked if I was a game warden. I would reply "No, but I can get you one really quick." Did anyone report these violators? Don
  8. I empathize Terry. Apparently, a substantial percentage of my flies have trout repellant on them as well . Don
  9. I saw Fox's sculpin and it looks really good. I've read about them on his website several times and have been tempted to buy his sculpin kit. Don
  10. Leonard, Good report. Good to hear you made some trout lips sore and you got to spend time on the water with your father. You didn't tell me you were having seahorses beacuse you knew darn well that I would have followed you out of there Friday Let me get something straight. I did not get a fly from you, but Terry Beason did? Did you know it was Terry or was he disguised as Davy Wotton? Don
  11. Happy Birthday Ronnie, Happy Birthday Murdoc, May the luck of the Irish be with you when you get on the water. Don
  12. Well written John, It was my first time there as well. My friends and I stopped and had breakfast in Gainsville Friday morning with Brian Wise. I bought that Parker compound bow he was selling. What a great guy. I look forward to go fishing with him. I saw most all the same tyers you mentioned. I did not meet John Berry though, maybe next time. Lots of good tyers. I sat in on Fox Statler's seminar, Fish and What They See, very interesting. Was Mike George the deer hair artist? He was amazing. It was tough being around world class waters without fishing. Other committments and obligations brought us all back home the same day. We all agreed we will go again next year. Don
  13. Got my flies in the mail today. Man, do they look great. Some good tyers out there. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two at the Sowbug Friday and hone my skills. Thanks everybody and thanks to Leonard for being the swapmeister. Can't wait to try them.....Don PS. Got my first digital camera a few days ago. As soon as I figure it out, I'll post my recipe with pics.
  14. Welcome retired chem teacher, You will find alot of good info here. That's why I log on most of the time. Sometimes, I log on just to see what Terry Beeson has posted . By the way, Terry's right, there's plenty of HO2 in this part of the country. Welcome.... Don
  15. Ronnie and Ducky, I'd love to be the 4th man to finish your team but I'm also in the same position. I already have two others on my team and we are looking for a fourth person as well. We'll take any volunteers. Thanks.....Don
  16. I don't have a cell phone and don't keep all phone numbers handy. I suggest that phone numbers to call current generation conditions be listed on the threads that show generation charts of tailwaters. Thanks.....Don
  17. Funniest pic I've seen here in awhile. I would have laughed alot harder if your avatar had STL on it . Don the Cardfan. P.S. Good Luck with Marquis the Card killer .
  18. Went to RR first opening weekend expecting large crowds. The plan was to fish the CR area or below the park just to get some elbow room. We drove to the end of the fly-only area and guess what, not very crowded. I fished 4 hours that afternoon, mostly experimenting on innovative patterns I spun up over the winter. I caught 15-20 nice sized fish for RR. Most of them 13 in. or so. Most were caught with a brown-olive leech that had a leech dubbing body with the same color marabou tail (lead wrapped hook). We only fished the last two pools of the park. There was a small hatch in the middle afternoon but not much going on top. I caught others on midges, woolybuggers, and crackebacks. My friend caught quite a few on black zebras. Don
  19. Thanks to TB, I could somehow imagine that MOCarp is spinning up a box full of PSCS's as we speak. Don
  20. By the way, did they find my gloves , I mean, did they find a nice pair of black leather gloves at the scene? Don
  21. Five seasons with minimal cleaning? I am currently using SA, Orvis, and Rio on my rigs. I'll keep Prestige Plus in mind for next round. Thanks Dano. Don
  22. For the last couple of years I've been using a little tiny girlyman net and have lost some nice fish because of it. I started using this one last month and I love it. Rubber handle, coated net minimizes hookups, deep enough to allow your fish to breathe in the water, big enough for a lunker, and finally alot of bang for your buck. http://www.frabill.com/cgi-bin/frabill/3671?store=spring Don
  23. I almost got on the bandwagon with you guys, but I don't think that discussing my dink would be appropriate on a public forum. Don
  24. I plan to move on to alot of warm water fishing this year. I anticipate whites, crappie, and smallies. Several acres of ice storm cleanup are still keeping me at bay. There's a will, there's a way. Don
  25. Those are a couple of nice slobs to get things rolling early in the season. It's a great thing that you get to fish with your dad. Thanks for sharing the pic. Don
