  1. There was a spirited thread about those new regs earlier in the year, might find more info about it on the Table Rock section in some of the older posts. If I can find it I'll post it up here.

Cool! One of these days... one of these days I'll either have to drive on down there and fish, it seems I have been waiting for the tectonic plates to push Arkansas closer to Springfield. I would love to see a cutthroat in person.
  3. You did better than I did. I started off wading the James River by the Cox Rd bridge throwing some purple/orange conehead streamer. That was all I had to throw since I seemed to have forgotten all of my fly boxes at home and that was hidden in my vest pocket. Did see some fish hitting on top but I just had a 6-7 inch lm bass follow my fly up to my boot. That was kinda neat. Left there and went for just a quick bit to the tailwater of Springfield Lake, I threw it for a while there but no bites. Left right before it started raining.
  4. Well, I am a little relieved but also disappointed. I had visions of selling my OAF hat on eBay as a collector's item to supplement my retirement. I bet there would be alot of traffic with Reelfoot Lake on the new site, every fishing magazine out there has plenty of advertisements for that place.
  5. What exactly is a strip pit? I am thinking from a strip mine but that looks like a creek to me.
  6. I'll put you down for #3!
  7. The printer let me know yesterday that my prints are on a brown truck heading towards the Ozarks. I used a different printer for this painting than for the "trutta" print and they are the same printer that Bob White uses and I see why. The difference is amazing. Like the other print this will be a limited edition run of 150. The inks are archival quality as is the special paper it is printed on. They will be numbered and hand-signed. The image size is 6 3/4 inches wide by 17 inches high with 1 1/4 inch white border around it. The price is $50. If you are interested in getting one please respond to this thread, if you have a particular number that you want (keep in mind only ten are on their way at this time) let me know. They can be picked up at my house in Springfield or I can ship for a little extra charge. On the easel right now are some oils that I am doing with palette knives: a bluegill face and a big red crappie. Still collecting flies for the Trout Flies of the Ozarks project. To keep up with all of this and more become a "fan" if you haven't already by clicking here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/wwwTailwater...89090142?ref=mf
  8. You can browse through the outdoor channel broadband videos. they do have some TU clips up there. They are from older episodes so it may be a little while before these have been put up there.
  9. the subject line indicates the boat has already been sold
  10. I do (rarely) go back to Oklahoma. The Places I fish there are Sooner Lake, Keystone, Kaw Lake tailwaters and Lake Carl Blackwell. Sometimes when I lived there I'd also fish the Arkansas River and the Cimmaron River. There aren't (or at least weren't) any sites other than the Oklahoma Fish and Game site for fishing reports.
  11. Hey everyone, PT Barnum said a sucker is born every minute, if that is true then I am hoping that some of you OAF'ers have taken some pictures of a few of them. I would like you to either post any pictures you have of suckers, carp, gar, buffaloes, redhorses, etc here or feel free to email them to me at taylor@tailwatertaylorstudio.com I need them for some reference pictures. Hoping to see a lot of big lips and big noses with big teeth. Thanks! If anyone has any pictures of gigging for suckers that would be great too.
  12. Happy Birthday Tim
  13. Thanks for the birthday wishes. And even by some strange twist of tradition I do NOT get a monkey card, I can always go look in the mirror and smile and get close enough on my own
  14. TU = Trout Unlimited
  15. Must have missed the snarkiness and sarcasm in the message. I've been staring at a huge bright red canvas all afternoon and I think it is making me short tempered, neighbor kid told me I was bossy and don't like children . It woud be interesting though to have a study done looking at disease incidence among fish in otter waterways and non-ottered (I guess that is a word to add to Ozarkipedia) waterways.
  16. By that "logic" one could ask you to fish at a trout farm the next time you want to catch some fish. A species that was here before we showed up is hardly an invasive species. Herons and otters compete against each other and against recreational fisherman I understand all of that. Fisherman also have to compete against themselves, the weather, other fisherman, poachers, etc. That is what makes it challenging and a sport. If that doesn't suit you, then I don't know what else to say. The only time I know for a fact I was "wronged" by an otter was when I was in high school in Louisiana. We were camping by a bayou and I had caught three small bass in the evening which I put on a nylon rope stringer for breakfast sticking the metal point deep in the mud. I awoke hungry to find that there were only three bass heads (no bodies) left on my stringer and otter tracks all around. Serves me right. It is the outdoors people, not a fish factory built just for us.
  17. Hey Lee, I think I know you. Good to see you on here.... Phillip Taylor
  18. My pleasure Duane. It was fun. I mainly get monkey cards for my birthday Have a happy birthday!
  19. We had two transformers blow on the street leaving us without power for about two hours, not too bad, but very glad to have it back.
  20. I guess Michael was giving others more time to guess. I'll have to admit there were some good names guessed at, but this is Michael Kyle's own BTG Leech (Big Trout Getter).
  21. Of course you get to guess, you may have an advantage above others though. Here is a pic I took in the sunlight this morning.
  22. I just finished up this painting and I snapped a picture of it. Not the best photo since no sunlight at 10PM but it should be good enough for some of you to guess the name of the fly.
  23. Thanks to everyone who has sent me or given flies to use for the painting. I know there are several more who will get me flies for it. Please send me your flies by February 15th Once I get all of the flies, then I can work on the layout and composition for the painting and get moving on that. You can send them to: Phillip Taylor, 5682 S. Ferguson Ave., Springfield, MO 65810. It would be good to get some female participation in this so DD'sMC and maybe Carolyn Parker could send me something. Once again this is for your favorite Ozark trout fly, it doesn't have to be your original. Any questions don't hesitate to ask. Thanks.
  24. They carry the Orvis Endure waders at Basspro, so you can try them on there and then order from Orvis at the sale price. Mine fit fine. I used the online sizing chart and it is right on the money. Hope to use them for the first time on Saturday at RRSP.
  25. If you are looking for waders, check out this deal from Orvis. http://www.orvis.com/store/productchoice.a...subcat_id=13349 I bought a pair of these a month ago when I thought I was getting a steal at $99. They are really nice and come with a pouch inside the chest area for you to put stuff in, they have the Orvis guarantee as well. For $79 I can't think why not to get it. Edit- They seem to be having website issues right now, so don't think I got the link wrong. You want to look for the Endura Men's Stockingfoot waders, reg $129, on sale for $79
