  1. I have bought from all 3 below, the link on bottom is out of Oklahoma and I buy more from them because the keep earning my repeat business, the gear is now more available than ever, and at better prices, if I would have to say the most bang I got outa a purchase was bite alarms, you do not need to stand over your rods that way, maakes fishing MUCH more relaxed, at least until that 1st run on a beeper! http://www.royalcarp.com/Scripts/default.asp http://www.wackerbaits.com/ https://www.americancarpsociety.com/store/home.php
  2. I grew up fishing shoal around the grand falls area, big maraboo muddlers and woolly buggers do well smallies in the riffles some BIG lots of spotted bass, a few largemouths, the pollution is over hyped in this area IMHO and the fishing by wading can be dangerous as the bottom can be greasy and the rocks sharp "chert" one of the few places you can catch cats on a fly regularly nice crappie and rockbass to be had--also a small population of trout not many but huge 'bows below the falls not much fishing done in that area considering the population so close--I have caught 50 bass in a day to 5 pounds in july buzz baiting from a float tube--use a 1/8 size with an oversize 3 wing clear prop blade white body, chunk it on a small 'caster with 10 pound line, and you can crawl that bait through a riffle--they will blast it, if your ar after smallies change the color brown/orange/black and the blade to black, I used that color in the rapids to catch big smalljaws, but thats another story...
  3. below is a link to carp angling resourses--rigs baits LOTS of info by the best carp anglers in North America the hair rig/bolt rig will out catch the standard doughball/treble rig 25-1 and will get the bigger fish--go to the link below and look up hair rig and bold rig then try it sometime, those taps turn into fish with a hair rig look out though, that 1st run from a twenty and you will be hooked ito this whole euro carp thing like me zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz gads man I can't get enough of those smokin runs!!!!! 4. yes, infact the carp club I belong to has a contest every new years, with prizes for carp caught during the coldest waters, its called the F.F.F http://www.carpanglersgroup.com/cagevents.html I have fished it the last couple of years and we have had mild weather, if its mild this year I thought I would try it again if anyone is interested "or foolhardy" to join some of us shoot a PM Mo
  5. soak them in a 5 gal bucket of water, fill 1/2 with whole oats from the feed store, 1 packet of yeast, 1 cup sugar, fill with WELL WATER some of the oats will float, I just ad a coffie can of whole feed corn to the top to weight the whole lot down.--soak at least 3 days put a lid on loose and set in a cool dark place "garage" a 50 pound sack makes about 4 buckets, just about right for an avg lake point in the ozarks, use a boat a pour 2 of the buckets on a secondary point 1 bucket on the 1st break, the second on the next deeper one, also at the point I also pour 1/2 bag of 20% range cubes 2 days later chum the other 2 buckets and the other 1/2 bag of cubes on the 1st brake only fish 24 hours later, fish with crawlers for cats, corn hair rigged for carp
  6. anything that looks like cottonseed duff when they are dropping also a purple wooly bugger under mulberry trees site fishing over a chum bed with a "corn" fly will get your arm ripped out, if you used sweet corn I can put you on some fish near Forsyth YOU MAY CATCH A STRAY TROUT OR TWO lol
  7. cats are attracted to chumming as well, try whole oats soaked a day or 2
  8. welcome!, work? whats that?
  9. stockton can be great in winter, Jigging spoons off main lake points and deep humps produce great walleyes and smallmouths, how deep? anywhere from 40--75 feet, lake usally needs to turn over, but I am unsure if it stratifies much since they started pumping water to springfield's fellows lake--infact the fish seemed to sift much deeper since the pumping began... anyway any warm wet stretch in winter is great for the walleyes, crappie is good anytime, but last several years the crappie fishing is not what it used to be, with lake levels so low anyone can see why NO BRUSH, that lake needs a huge brush pyle project asap!!!
  10. thats a LOT of gigging!--do you guide?--how many suckers can you take in a night?
  11. lots of flys work, just depends what time of year best time is when they are feeding on cotton seed fluff on top, match that and a hook-up will be one you won't soon forget cheers Mo

  21. Sorry for the delay guys , I was at Hominy Oklahoma visiting carpers at the Big ACS tourney. a mom /son team from North Carolina were the winners took home just under $4k Big fish was I think 28 # and change. fishing was tough due to the heavy fishing pressure, and less than favorable weather. several teams landed no fish in 3 days, some no fish over 10 pounds which is the minimum to count I will get the name of the motel restaurant, its is right across the street from the park and the National Guard armory--we were meeting early there I will get the name from Don and post it today as a note Don chummed yesterday with 50 pounds of range cube, fish have been biting up to around 17 pounds, but bigger fish I am sure are there along with some Koi I home the weather will hold for us--also as a note a daily Kansas fishing permit is around 5 bucks Cheers Mo
