those are channels. rounded anal fins and eyes are set higher on the head than a blue.. they look like they are in spawning mode as the head lips are swollen..fish are darker then as well..they are cavity spawners and the males get that way def nests

Stockton has some nice channels..I catch a lot of nicer fish carping...most people confuse big channels with blues

the fastest way to tell in channels have an "overbite" most of our blues look whiteish....many channels as they get bigger have no spots.....channels also have more of a fork in they tail than a blue

IE the difficulty in fooling and landing a carp on purpose....the point Phil Monahan, of Orvis referring them to “freshwater bonefish.” ......resolve would not mean dropping over from physical exhaustion...but I will say landing 20 big carp in a days fishing will wear you out....ever hear that about landing 20....(insert fish here) ?????

I have never taken any.....I always wondered why they are limited in Stockton yet so common below ...blues migrate perhaps the ability of blues to move into waters above Stockton dam area during constructed were at a time when blues migrated far downstream.....be an interesting study...they may be in Stockton yet people are not fishing where they are
