Pvspmo, The gun racks on the way out the door have to be my favorite! My Step Dad created a similar deer camp from an old Streamline aluminum trailer, so I hold your set-up in the highest regard!! Good Hunting! Morgan F.

That is a stellar deer!! Good Memories for the young man! Morgan F.

Got out for the evening hunt last night...2 does chased by a fair 8 point...got the 'ol blood pumping!! Crossed at about 25 yards in the EXACT wrong spot! How do they know??!! On the drive to work this morning (about 30 miles) I saw 3 small to medium bucks...all running does...deer were everywhere and moving through the open. The next few weeks should be a great time to be on stand...good luck to all! Morgan F.

Hunted a new spot last night for a couple of hours until dark. Not sure if it was the different spot or the change in weather, but I saw a lot more action last night...perhaps the full moon had them moving as well. Now I just need ANOTHER stand for this spot! Also saw some small bucks trailing some does, but nothing to speak of...it's coming on! Good luck, Morgan F.

Everybody is probably in the woods, but thought I would see if anyone has been seeing any action. I hunted Thursday -Sunday and saw good movement...nothing big. Got busted drawing on a turkey on Sat. morning. Went out Monday evening with the weather change. I thought I would catch it just right and see some great stuff. I didn't see a thing!! The only excitement of the evening was right before I got off stand in the last bit of light...had an owl swoop up on a branch in the tree next to me w/ its dinner and started chowing down...pretty impressive! So who has the monster buck stories? Morgan F.

Russ, Sorry bother...caught me too late! I bugged out early on Thursday and headed into the deer woods for the weekend...a little warm, but still good to be out...better fishing weather though! Glad to see that you guys had a good trip. I will have to make it down sometime though it will probably be spring before I get there...too many critters in the woods for me to play with right now!! Have a good one! Morgan F.

Cat, Some familiar looking spots in some of the photos posted by Mr. Wise!!! Looks as though even you got to fish for a spell! Seems like a good time was had by all...wish I could have made it down...perhaps next year! Brian Wise, At least you had warm weather to withstand the "dunk"! That was a great series of shots...if you hit the "next" button fast enough is shows the moment in a great sequence of motion!! Cheers to all! Morgan F.

That is a good lookin' blind! I saw a flow of Snows while I was on the Deer Stand yesterday...the cold weather must be on it's way!! Good Luck, Morgan F.

Thom, You are spot on in all the points you made! All of which were relevent to my trip last week...except for maybe seeing a bunch of 20"+ fish (we gave those the Professional Release!)! The San Juan Huh?!! I investigated that a bit last year while on a ski trip to Durango CO. I was surprised that the guide cost wasn't more...I will certainly have to make that trip one of these eons! All the best, Morgan

Finally got down to do a guided trip with Brian from Eleven Point Canoe Rental last weekend. Floated the Blue Ribbon Section on Saturday and caught fish from beginning to end. Fishing out of the drift boad was a real treat and a totally new fishing experience for me. Amazing how much more time your lure gets in the water with someone else paddling!! I easily caught 4x the fish on this trip than I did soloing it in my yak a coupld of weeks ago. Anyone who is looking to fish the Eleven Point should seriously consider the services provided by Brian and Ryan. They were able to put my buddy and I on fish on nearly every stretch of the river. Brian was especially patient and helpful in refining my terrible techniques and misques (I managed to tangle myself more than I thought possible...even for a clutz like me! All of which was self inflicted!) We tied into a couple of fish that may have been 18+, but unfortunately my buddy and I lost the fish before we were able to see. I did get the pleasure of catching a vibrant colored bow that was the largest fish of the day that may have pushed the 18" mark and followed that fish up with the only wild fish we caught...both were a pleasure. Fished the standard crawdad, stonefly pattern as well as some egg patterns all day...never had a need to change. Won't be making the fly-flinger event this weekend, but sure wish I was! Have a great weekend guys! Morgan F.

Kansas Fly Fisher, I did that exact thing this morning! Taking in the first sip of coffee watching the vapor rise off of the lake...even a couple of ducks flying around! It just doesn't get much better!
-
Amen and pass the fletching...the time is here! Too bad I don't have a trout stream running in front of my stands! Good Luck! Morgan F.

Wacky Worm, We'll keep our eyes out for 'ol yeller floating down the 11 pt.! Not sure what sections/length we will float yet...will try to update when I know. Have a great trip! Morgan F.

Thank you, Brian! We are very excited to get down there. I will let you know about the Friday rental as I know more in the coming weeks. I plan to carry the flyrod along, so I will be needing to pick up the flie(s) of the day when we get there. See you soon! Morgan F.

Brian and Ryan, Looks like I will be making it down to your shop for the weekend of Sept. 21-23. Have the girlfriend fired up for a float/fish trip! (The great Pics on your website sealed the deal) I wanted to make sure that we would be able to get a canoe from you for a day (22nd) and maybe 1/2 day on 21st depending on when we make it down. Also, will be making arrangements to stay through the main lodging link on your www. Thanks, Morgan F.

C&R yearly permit for missouri trout parks
Morgan F. replied to timsfly's topic in General Angling Discussion
I would have to say I would be all for it. I don't make it to the Parks as much as I would like, and when I do make it, I dread having to make the "extra" stop before wetting my line to buy the daily. (I know...it's lazy...I just really don't like lines of people...especially right before I fish!) I personally have not approached a body of water in the past several years with even the slightest notion to keep any fish. With the C&R, I could just stop by my tackle shop on the way in and then on to the streamside. I would even imagine that the MDC could charge a bit more than has been discussed so far in this forum (though hopefully not much more) and more than offset any lost revenue from a $3.00 daily. (at my annual visisting rate of 2-3 times a year in the parks...almost exclusively Bennett). I think that with such a C&R permit, that I would be more inclined to visit more of the great parks that we have here in Missouri, and if that effect were compounded state-wide, that may pump more tourism dollars into areas that folks traditionaly have not visited. For what it's worth... Morgan F. -
Scratch that last reply...just found the info int the Bennett section of forum. Thanks, Morgan F.

We put out about 50-60 acres of sunflowers and vaious other seed mix every year...didn't turn out too bad this year, but so far there just hasn't been the weather to push the birds down as Lilly mentioned. We have some weather pushing through Central Mo today so hopefully we will have a few birds come in for the weekend. Went out and counted birds sitting around the plot earlier this week and there were around 20-30 (not a lot). Typical years we will have birds in the 100's range...come on weather! Morgan F.

This may be a dumb question, but wasn't there supposed to be a moss cutting on that same day at Bennett? If so did they get the cutting done prior to the wash-out? If they didn't do the cutting have they rescheduled it...or is it even a concern now with all of the other issues the Dept. has to deal with? Morgan F.

Fishinwrench, Were most of the effected fish from the hatchery or were they fish that had already been realeased into the stream/sping? i.e. will the impact be effective now or in the future concerning the number of fish in the spring? Morgan F.
-
Superfly, Catch and Release...absolutely! I don't want to pack fish around all day!! I sure wish (and am still hopefull) that the schedule parts for some fishing time between now and Oct. but as of right now I don't have any openings, though I do have my fingers crossed for a cancellation or two! I had tried to make it over to see Ryan and Brian after a trip to the North Fork a couple of weeks ago...I must have had some bad Karma...couldn't make it then either! I am rallying the troops though and will be there as soon as I can! Thanks for the report! What were your put-in and take-out points? Morgan F.
-
Have not read anything about the 11 point for a couple of weeks now. My Schedule isn't looking very good until Oct. so I will have to live vicariously through the posting of others until then. Any reports? I'm having dreams of my float going under! Please help! Morgan F.

WebFreeman, Right you are! Those are exactly the types of details that I will have to find more specifics on. Thanks for the input! Do you know if the benefit offered through your work is from Pre-Paid Legal or another entity? Thanks again and Have a great day, Morgan F.

Lilley, Thanks for the response! I am looking at this as something to potentially participate in as a client and a part-time sales opportunity. Good to hear from someone with first hand experience. Much appreciated! Morgan F.

Afternoon everyone, I just got "the pitch" from a rep from Pre-Paid Legal Services and I am unsure of the validity of the product / consumer usefulness / company reputation. Anyone out there know anything, heard anything, have an opinion about this company and/or their services? I thought I would throw this out here as I know that any response would be an honest down-to-earth response! Thanks in advance, Morgan F.
