  1. I would hope that if enough of us vent in the proper manner, whether it be by email, US mail, or phone. They just might pay some attention. There is strength in numbers. If gigging has been restricted in some trout areas, that might be a start for the next shoe to drop? I wonder how those restrictions came to be. Maybe we could use the implementation of those restrictions as a model for action.
  2. I've used the C&F Design boxes, I use both the waterproof boxes, and the C&F Design Magnetic Hook Pallets!
  3. Ditto's. I would like to try the Steelheads out west though.
  4. I have used the cell phone trick as well, but I'm really trying to reach law enforcement. If the call goes through it's all the better. I always have a waterproof camera on me and use it for fish pics all the time, but cameras are great for game & fish violations. The following is from an earlier post from an agent. http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14098 In addition, if you can't get cell phone reception take pictures! If you know what the suspected violator(s) is driving take pics of their car and license plate. A while back I saw a man floating the Meramec Trophy Trout area using bait and filling a stringer up will Smallies and trout. Then he cleaned them keeping only the fillets. A long story short. I took lots of pics, and emailed them to the MDC. Several agents tracked the guy down to his house and knocked on his door. Imagine the surprised look on this poachers face. I will just bet that next time he goes fishing he just might respect the law in a different manner. I voted yes. MDC needs more agents. Some popular fishing counties have NO agent, or maybe 1. That ain't enough.
  5. Eric, I take it you are expecting, or plan to be. Last Christmas as a fisherman? Quite the contrary, your journey through the world of fishing is just starting. Think of the joys that wait you when you see your son or daughter catch their first fish? Eventually doing the same with your grandkids. What a gift to treasure. You will find seeing them catch a fish will be more exciting for you than catching one yourself. Congrats, the best is yet to come. Merry Christmas
  6. For what it's worth. Now that I've looked around a bit I like this site's features and look much better now.
  7. That's a big 10-4
  8. Welcome. A buddy at work showed me your paper and I really enjoy it.
  9. I always have a Pentax Optio W30 on me. It's waterproof, and has a very slim profile and takes great pics. attaching pics is a breeze with this updated site.
  10. Nope. They don't carry the flies you mentioned when they are open during the normal season.
  11. Now thats a fish! Awesome pic, thanks for the post.
  12. Congratulations to T.J.! A memory, which will last a life time. Cameras are bad luck anyhow. Your grandson won’t need a pic to remember that one.
  13. At least he remembered to put the plug in and the boat's ok. I was putting in my old boat in by myself once and pulled that stunt...pushing boat off the trailer, hey whats that water doing pumping out the side? isn't that the bilge pump? yikes! forgot the plug!
  14. Sweet! Thanks for the post!
  15. Blasting would be more likely I would think. Although just after the blasts, I could have swore I heard the faint roar of jet engines. We drove in to the park through Cuba and didn't notice any construction going on. Is there any going on between the park and St James? I wonder what the park is planning stream side. You can't help but notice the survey flags.
  16. You have good eyes my friend.
  17. Yes it does, I think Friday would have been the day but my fishing buddy couldn't make it.
  18. We got on the water about 11 and fished untill 2. We experienced on and off misty rains, with the sun peeking out a few times. As we were getting our gear on in the parking lot, shortly before 11 suddenly we both just about jumped out of our waders!!! BOOM, BOOM!!! I mean big ones, not a Deer rifle either. All I could figure was we heard two sonic booms. I remember growing up in California during the '60s we heard sonic booms all the time as military jets headed out over the ocean. These sounded the same, only right on top of us! Anyone else down there Sat morn about 11:00 am? Oh ya, the fish. Here's a couple we managed pics of. Matt had a lunker on, the flies pulled out just before I could get a net around it.
  19. On the previous record. If the hatchery guys would have been able to revive your fish. What would have happened then?
  20. I'm a catch and release guy. A quick photo or two, a length & girth measurement. And release. A point to consider, if I thought I had a record fish I would consider keeping the fish because taxidermists would want to make a mold of the record fish. Then replicas could be made.
  21. Great topic to post. A friendly reminder to be aware of what you're doing. Thanks Brian.
  22. Check out pics at Anglers and Archery. Look at Leonard's posts. I've caught them. If it's an awesome Bass pond you're looking for, just go over that big slab of concrete! Large mouth, Small mouth, Spots, mean mouth...Table Rock! Taney has them too. So whats the problem?
  23. Anglers and Archery up by the Dam has the smallie pics. Ask Leonard about Smallies on Taney. I've caught them.
  24. Cool report. Thanks for that post.
