  1. And now we know...the REST of the story.
  2. Quite a story. Seeing Sara on a jet ski, and meeting in person.
  3. Wow. Thanks for your post.
  4. Wow! Great report. I've just gotta do that. Anyone ever catch those on a fly rod?
  5. Wish you could have made it, every time you are in the boat with me, you show me up. Matt at Taneycomo after a day of catching so many it was crazy.
  6. This fish had the red eyes, and the smallie mouth.
  7. There have been quite a few great ideas mentioned here. I am hoping that MDC and the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation and Bass Pro.takes into consideration the great comments by members, and makes some beneficial changes to the waters. I am eagerly waiting to adapt to the new conditions.
  8. I was thinking the same thing like whoa, whats this? Was hoping for some input on that.
  9. My thought exactly. We should be able to get them at the Alpine Shop in Kirkwood. Maybe pick up a snowboard while we're at it.
  10. Uploads are working now.
  11. I will second that.
  12. They are just a couple of pics of 'lil 'ole river Bass, Thanks, I will send them, the system still won't let me upload. I've reduced them several times.
  13. Thanks for the information. I figured that something was up. Also a big thanks for this website!
  14. The weather was so nice I had to get the River Pro out to run for it's minimum once a month winter run. The water was several feet high, but dropping and clearing. I took a longer than normal run up river from my normal close to home put in. I managed a few on one of my favorite river jig set ups. An Eakins 5/16 oz jig with a Yum Wooly Bug trailer. Normally I use a Chompers trailer. What a sweet day to get the boat out, saw one big Bald Eagle. I'm trying to post pics of the correct file size, system won't let me right now. I will post the pics as soon as I can.
  15. Or the short answer, no, tippet mat. does not sink quicker than leader if they are of same size and material. Fluorocarbon or mono.
  16. Size to size, using the same grade of tippet 7X, 6X, 2lb, 4lb, etc. Fluorocarbon tippet, sinks faster than mono. Tippet is fly fisherman talk for leader. Only our "leaders" are a tapered section between fly line and tippet section. Do I have ya confused yet? To get back to your question about tippet length. Long tippets (leaders) are needed for high water. Generally a lot more than most folks actually ever use. A common mistake. It's hard to cast a fly rod with tippet as long or longer than the rod, and a lot of shot to boot.
  17. "I usually put a split shot or two above my top fly" That is my way of weighting a dropper rig. If the water is high, looong tippets! and get the heavy shot out! Speaking of water, how was the water down there? I would think pretty high, flowing harder, and cloudy water. No sight fishing for sure.
  18. FFM, Those are the two closest gauges above and below M.S.P. that I know of. This is the coverage map. http://waterwatch.usgs.gov/?m=real&r=mo
  19. I am calling off this weekend because of rains. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=07010350 http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=07013000
  20. For example, my first week this fall, I was catching rainbows. The second week my son joined me, and we started catching the Browns pictured early that week. By wed to thur that same week they (the big ones) started to appear. Browns 10 -15 pounds. Then the rains, and flood gates came.
  21. Not to worry they are still there. When the Browns show up in the fall, they show up quick! One week they aren't, next week BAM! If conditions deteriorate, they disappear.
  22. Wow, you stole my thunder! I will second that one! What the Trout Said, by Datus C. Proper
  23. I have one of Charlie's rods he wrapped for me in '83. Charlie was living in a back room at the old Spring View Tackle shop inside the park at the spring hole.
  24. It's hard to go wrong with Rio. The Gold is a great do all line for Trout. You are on the right track.
  25. Gentlemen, I would like to thank you all for your kind remarks. Gavin... where's our "Cheers" I missed it.
