yeap! thats the one!! if you want you can turn right to kingston , just after marble that takes you to the boxley valley..... steel creek is mostly a horse campgroung! but the shortest drive down the mountain!kyles will smoke your breaks!.... jasper is a crossroad and the only gas and food.. eurbie is a 8 mile long drive in.. and ,ozark has some big rocks in mid stream to swim off of.. pruit is only a put in or swimming day use.. hasty is just a take out! carver is a tiny camp ground. mt hersey is way in there! woolum and bakers ford aren't really camp worthy ..there is good eating places on 65 north right by the gilbert turn in , or BBQ place about three miles north of that.... your looking at about 2 and a half hours from the far side of springdale... and tyler bend is lights out at 10 pm never loud music in that campground (HAM'S) THINKING OF SOMEPLACE ELSE!! RANGER KATHY FLASHES HER LITE AT YOU AT 9:45 and you better keep your dog on a leash! too ..... do a printout of that link map, you'll be glad you did!

the past three monday nights i have been paddling the upper end( white river), and just before dark the water has come alive! with large bass .... and the large clear spook has done the trick!the best night was 18 fish over a pound and a half on average but on light tackle and a kayak it was fun!
  7. http://www.gooutandplay.com/ .......i bet you can paddle your butt of in one!! (but i'd look at the new mad river, the 14ft. one)
  8. i'll take one!
  9. LEWIS AND CLARK are haveing there paddlefest at the headwaters of tablerock lake ,at the town of beaver july 27 th, thru the 29 th.
  10. i never could figure out why 10 man tent is 40 bucks and a 2man tent is 300 ?
  11. well here is the deal with the river, first off it's gin clear !! you see them. they see you! and that makes me a true beliver in green lo-vis line, i only use 4lbs. test..but i'm always just wingin' a bait up stream and dragging it along! no skills at all. alomst every time at the top of the pool... or, in the meanest parts of the rapids.. and. or at the start of slack water, still with a good eddieline of current and i'll have one!! i don't fish for size,(not that a few big ones don't matter ) i just fish to catch fish.note>> (THEY ARE ALL NUMBERED ,SO DON'T TRY TO TO KEEP ONE TO TAKE HOME) but, to fish, and paddle is a feat in it's own .... the best is when you hook-up a line-yanker just before you fall into a chute ,and you have the rod in onehand, and trying to paddle your way thru to calm waters all the while that drag is justa' singn'..... man i love that!! most folks don't fish. they are just happy to have made it thru THAT last rapid ) >>>>CATMAN.... IT'S ALL GOOD BUDDY! you just paddle more the farther down you go!..if your paddling skills are good! start up top ! and if your skills are weak start around woolum to the tyler bend, 65 bridge, gilbert ..if you have the time go wilderness! if you just can't make up your mind ,pack for the weekend and call me!!!!
  12. the best part is she will never forget that day!!!!
  13. looks like you could expect a good shot of water for a day or two any more rain and we should see a good rise!.... http://www.buffaloriverandrain.com/cgi-bin/levelplotall ( if this link doesn't work copy and paste it) that section is good at 7.5 or 8 the river is moving , at a good clip... below 5, and it's alot of paddling between pools (the upper end is the white water near boxley and ponca ) but the fishing is always good, there is some really deep holes. it's not as pretty as the upper sections(ponca to kyles landing)..... hope this helps?
  14. this is just the start of the rape to the ozarks....gas and oil people are deep into the woods !http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2024963190070559527gBOvbZ this is just the start of the RAPE to the ozarks....gas and oil people are deep into the woods !..
  15. Oh great! Now Trey and I have to drive 3 hours instead of 45 mins.... but you have to look at as we now have a guy on the inside!! ..... best of luck to you, and the new waters!!!
  16. .... you guys missed a great weekend, and then some! jim and i got there late in the afternoon on thurs. we floated the osage fork fri. morning and man-o-man lots of trees across the river. we had to really scout some paths thru the jungle it was kinda' funny if you just kept left you could just sneak thru the grass and miss the tops of the trees as we had some high water .. and the 10 mile trip ..turned out to be only a 6 miler and we finished up too early so we hung around the take-out for a few hours.. fishing was slow, but jim managed to take the top award of $40 dollars for big fish and for the first fish of the day!!! .... oh yeah ! the truck stop, had sold to new people.. and the food well lets just leave that one to the TUMMS!!! the second day .... we did a 9.5 mile float above the campground, and just beat a busload of floaters to the river and that was the start to a great day of laughter!! starting off with jim wading out for a paddle for a couple that tipped ... then another canoe comes crashing thru the trees followed by three more kayaks of girls that started down a dead end ,that they found out too late! dispite all the floaters i managed to win back the $40 dollar top prize on the second days fishing . and enjoyed the trip and the company!
  17. we are at the truckstop .... going to be a goodie
  18. well depends on what you mean... we floated at 2.8 and it was fun! ?????it's at 16 ?.... do you mean, wife and kids safe. NO !!! OR do you mean STRAP IT DOWN, BUCKEL IT UP!!! THRILL RIDE OF YOUR LIFE. kind? .....
  19. i just looked at the gauge and it's at 1.8...... and at 2.o it's a bumpy rock garden... and below that the outfitters start moving there operations down stream .....here's a really good link : for some true details.....http://www.buffaloriverandrain.com/index.html if you look back on my other post there is a good map section zoom it up ! hope this helps!
  20. yeah terry, handing beers you don't have to squint! so hard!! ......I went to the partystore and have my beads on order!!!!... ..... and FLY FLINGER... i was in there parking lot about 3 weeks ago on a sat morning around 10 and i woke the ole'man up! and he just pointed for me to go backout to the hwy, i had used them all fall (I WAS GETTING THE BUDDY DEAL ON SHUTTLES FOR 15 DOLLARS) and i was shocked to see all the boats and trailers were gone. and no one in the campground ....
  21. wayne, had a locked gate... tall grass ...and no boats except for the one as a sign hanging by the road... the states take-out is still good.
  22. http://home.nps.gov/applications/parks/buf...aps/ACF5567.pdf this covers it all !! but if your camping at tyler, float to gilbert, or the 65 bridge, nice float.. nothing but good stuff! if you want a longer one go to st.joe and follow the road to baker's ford. NOTE.. the last of the road was a little rough last time i was there.
