  1. Don't base your choice of boat on the trailer that they come with.. I'm a motorsports and auto dealer, and became a dealer for trailers when I decided to get a new boat. Markup was good enough that I've sold a few trailers to people that were looking for boat and pwc trailers. It's not my usual business, but why not.. Have a dealer look into a trailer price for you from a local trailer manufacturer. You might be able to get a trailer locally that is better than what the boat manufacturer is offering for less money.
  2. Bob, When is the fish off for the Thursday night sea kittens, I mean, tournament?
  3. During the summer I troll with white road runners up shallow on the flats. In October I like to use a buzzbait on mainlake points.
  4. Stockton has been real hit and miss with me this summer to. I camped last weekend, and on the first morning out caught a 24" walleye in the first five minutes of fishing. I crappie fished for a while, then trolled for walleye and could only get 7 short walleyes that morning. That was the only chance I got to fish that weekend. I camped there two weeks prior and cuaght a 25" walleye the first evening out, then shorts the rest of the weekend. I've been catching some fish, but few keeper sized. But when I do get a keeper, it's been worthwhile because they are good ones!
  5. I fished Monday from 10am-2pm and found some eyes. I caught about 6-7 short walleye, and two keepers. I caught the keepers from 3-4pm when there was some cloud cover. I was trolling cranks about 15ft deep in 15-25ft of water on windblown points. I also had good luck with the crappie.
  6. I was on the lake from 10am-5pm. I went targeting walleye, but got into some crappie. I ended the day with 14 keeper crappie and 2 keeper walleye. I went solo and was trolling crankbaits in sunfish color that dove 14-16ft. I mostly trolled in 18-25ft of water, but ended up with finding the last 8 crappie on a cut 14-17ft deep between two mainlake points on the east side of the lake. The wind had funneled the baitfish in there and the crappie were stacked in there. I probably could have stopped and vertical fished with a tube and crappie nibbles and caught more crappie, but I stuck with the cranks as I was after walleye. I even had a largemouth that went 18.25" on the crakbait, "thought I had hooked big walleye." I releases abot 15 short crappie, 7 short walleye and about 30 white bass. Overall it was a pretty good day.
  7. What days will you be down there? I was thinking about taking my boat down as I have all day to fish on Friday until about 4pm, but I don't want to tow it that far to fish alone.
  8. If fishing below the dam during the day, use small jigs "usually white or pink" below a small float between the cable and outlet 1. The best fishing in this area can be had at night with a spinning rod throwing small rapalas. For downtown, fish with powerbait or equivelent bait for some good rainbow action. I'll be down there this weekend doing a little fishing myself, I'll be at the river most of the day friday with the ole flyrod.
  9. I didn't really get any current feedback on the snagging on the Osage, so I'll give my own fishing report! I put in at Roscoe this evening at 5pm and headed down to the mouth of the sac. Didn't have much luck here, although I did manage to graph a few large blips on the lowrance within a mile above the sac entrance on the osage. I decided to head upriver towards Taberville, and ran all the way up to the entrance of clear creek. No luck here, and nothing on the graph that I would consider a spoony. I then headed down river about 3 miles and just did some looking on the sonar without ripping any hooks. I was only seeing a few spoonbill on the graph on inside river bends "find a sharp river corner, go just below it 50-200yds and drop a line on the side the river was bending". I dropped in my line and hit a 42" sow. By this time it was 7pm, and I only had a little time left to get back before it got dark. So I snagged for another 20 minutes with no more hits. I headed down to Roscoe as I didn't want to run in the dark with some of the floaters that were headed down stream. I graphed some more spoonies just downriver from the bridge at Roscoe, but there was a lot of brush in there too. I could only hit the brush here in the 20 minutes I snagged, and decided to call it a night. VERDICT: There are not any large concentrations of fish up in the river yet and the water temp was 61 degrees and change. However, there are some up in the Roscoe area that can be caught if you stick to the inside river bends. I was able to graph a lot of smaller fish at the entrance of feeder creeks and sac river, but these were gar, juvenile spoonbill and possibly some catfish. I think I would have had a decent day if I had gotten up there earlier and just stuck to inside river bends. Hope this helps you guys out, let me know how ya'll do!

  11. I'm headed to the Osage friday to do some snaggin up around Taberville or Roscoe. Has anyone been doin any good up in this area?
  12. From my understanding it is just downriver of Galena by about a mile. I'm headed there next weekend for a canoe trip out of James River Outfitters. I'm renting a Cabin from them that is located within a 1/4 mile of the boat ramp at blunk hole. I have directions somewhere, but cant find them right now but i believe you just head into Galena and look for Blunk road and turn south onto it and foll down to that area. You could look up the folks at James River Outfitters and give them a call, actually the number is 417-357-6447, or 417-830-1344 for their cell #. They can tell you how to get there as they live right next to blunk hole. Give me a report back and let me know how you do as I'm itching to make it down next weekend and catch some whites and spoonbill myself! Streamer
  13. I'm headin out Friday afternoon with the boat in tow to put in at Taberville or Roscoe and rip some hooks. Haven't heard much out of anyone lately on the snaggin on this stretch of the Osage River. Anyone have any suggestions or heard of any fish being caught?
  14. The answer is four.... What was the question again?
  15. I also have a couple of cases of TC-W3 synthetic blend oil that I dont need for my fourstroke that can go with the boat, $200 value thrown in. If your looking for this setup for an outboardjet, I do have a Bob's hyd Flats Jack that might be negotiable with the boat. However, the jack plate is not for sale individually as purchased it for my 2072 tunnel boat. Make me an offer for a package deal!!
  16. No one interested in this guy! Come on, I think this is a pretty good rig for a river boat! Lot of time invested in this guy making it the way I wanted it. Would make a good riverboat, or jetboat for someone.
  17. I'll try to attach some pics here! Also, 3 fishing seats and pedistals come with the boat that are not shown in the pics.
  18. Time to sell my river boat. It's 18' long, 85" beam, 24"tall side Lowe with Johnson 88SPL on a custom built tandem axle aluminum trailer. The hull is a 1986 year model Lowe 1860, I wanted this year because of the flatbottom rear for shallower draft, all newer boats have a slight V. I purchased this boat and stripped it down to the bare hull to build the way I wanted. I purchased all aluminum flooring and treadplate decking, put in rod/gunlocker, console, seats and pedistals, 24 gal fuel tank under front deck, 40 Lb thrust Minn Kota, two 750GPH bilge pumps, and all lighting, wiring, batteries and compartments. The boat has a tuffcoat non-skid liner throughout interior in light grey, and on stepping surfaces of trailer. The boat hull is in a dark brown primer, "didn't want to have to wax it". The trailer is low to the ground so I could launch in shallow water. I set this boat up with the 24 gallon fuel tank under the front deck, and front mount trolling battery to even the weight distribution for an outboard jet. I never purchased a jetdrive, however the boat is balanced out for one. This also helps the front V displace water at slower speeds for a smoother ride. I use a 18 gallon roller cooler with areator as a livewell, which also comes with the boat. I did this to maximise floorspace when a livewell is not needed. The boat runs out at 40mph GPS with the current 3 blade stainless prop. I have over $6000 invested, so my loss is your gain. I am purchasing my Fathers Alumacraft 2072 since he has passed away, so this boat needs a new home. If you want to see the boat, need pics or have questions then send me a message, or call Jerrad at (417)-682-1617. A few pics can be seen on craigslist under Joplin, MO area listing. $4250 OBO
  19. Thanks for the report seth. Looks like I'm gonna wait until early next week. There are some chances of some pretty good storms tomarrow afternoon and I have a few tests at school on Friday. I dont really want to get that far away from home just to hit bad weather. My cousin has been fishing up on LOZ for a Bass tournament coming up and says he's seen a lot of people with spoonbill on their boats up there. Good luck to you, don't forget to post your results!
  20. I might be heading to the James river arm Thursday or Friday in search of some spoonbill! Heard someone on here say that they might have moved up river from McCords Bend, although the whites might have moved down! I have an uncle in from Brazil that wants to give it a try. I took him last year in late April and we slayed em way up river! Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks, Streamer78
  21. Headed up to the Osage today. I hadn't heard any reports from up there yet so I called up Dane's. The guy that answered said the best snagging had been from taberville on up river. I thought it was to early for them to be up that far and thought hard about going to Roscoe. I fished from Five miles above Taberville, to about 4 miles below Taberville "Clear Creek". From Taberville on up: I'm not sure I graphed a fish big enough for me to identify as a legal spoonbill. It was a complete waste of time! Taberville down to Clear Creek: The farther down river I went, the more the large blips started to appear on the graph! I graphed some decent fish just below Clear creek, but couldn't manage to hit one. They were not very congregated yet! My buddy and I did manage to land five spoonbill ranging in total length from 10in to 25in. WOHO!! They would've been the perfect size to go in my aquarium!! If I were to go tomarrow, I would go somewhere near Roscoe.
  22. Your right, Oklahoma fishing permits go Jan1-Dec31, I guess I'm used to Missouri regs. Oh well, I'll need to purchase one in the next few months anyway! Thanks for the Tip!
  23. Seth, I just got through sending you a message via youtube on hooking up for a snagging trip, before I found your post here! I've never snagged anywhere below sailboat bridge, or before March15th for that matter! But my OK fishing license expires February 28th I believe, might as well get some use out of it. I might be able to find a buddy to tag along also, and I've got a 20ft boat in SW MO so you wouldn't have to tow yours all the way down. Get back with me on that thought!
  24. I think a larger size limit on browns would be great, and I voted yes for 24 inches. Does anyone really keep the 20-23inch ones though? I've just never really thought of that before this came up! I've fished taney for nearly 25 years now, and never kept a single brown. I've caught Browns up to 27in, but have always just let them go. As a kid, my father always took me to taney to trout fish. He was a tournament bass fisherman, but loved trout fishing. We brought home a few ocassional rainbows to eat, but never a brown. The browns were always the catch and release trophy fish, keep a few rainbows because there's more of them ect.. ect.. I really dont like to eat trout that often, but keep 8-12 rainbows a year to eat ocasionally. Does a Brown taste better? I've always wanted to know! If so, I might keep one and try it! But, the size restriction brings up a point on family fishing! When I was 5, I caught a great 21in rainbow off the dock at fall creek. My father was working in real estate in Arkansas, and my mother was fishing with me on the dock that morning. My mom thought it needed to be on my wall, along with me of course. Well the taxidermist' freezer went out before he got to it! Anyway, if my kids caught a trout that size i'd be tempted to keep it for them, even if it were a brown. That's just the only way i'd ever see keeping a brown that justifies keeping the current size limit.
