  1. The only time I have ever been checked for anything was after frog gigging on a tiny lake(pond) in cass county at 2:30 in the morning. I couldnt belive it. Kind of spooky haveing a agent walk up behind you in the pitch black of night while trying to trailor the boat.
  2. its like the second picture. I think they call it a white water because there is no keel just flat bottom
  3. How much would a 17' white water canoe be worth? 1976 model, aluminum, plastic molded seats
  4. Just wait for about a month in a half and the royal will be here. Thats the place you want to go for original bbq
  5. They need to add about 30 more agents on the Niangua alone. I will hate to see what will happen when there are none. Myself and most the people I know dont even think about going there anymore its horriable. Heck I wont even go to Bennet because its too close to there. One thing I do think they should do is to have all the outfitters that rent canoes down there responsiable for the cleanup of the streams. Pass the cost on to the customers with more than a six pack in their boat and see what that does to improve the stream.
  6. Pulled into the parking lot around 12:30 and started fishing at 1 am. Water was falling out, they had two units running from 4 till 12. Half dozen cars in the parking lot so I headed down toward rebar. Several guys there so I started below the root wad and worked my way down to the big hole. Throwing a sculpin pattern(my design) picked up a few right off the bat then for some reason couldnt get the hook set. Switched to a purple hibernator and started picking a few more. Ran into Leanord and centerpunch down by the big hole. Leanord said olive was working really well for him and he was going to go up to the flats before he went home. Leanord and I went up just down from outlet 1 and started catching instead of fishing. Usually one of us had a fish on if we both didnt. Leanord took off around 3 or 330 so I fished the rest of the night myself. I finally left around 630 not knowing how many fish were caught. Seamed like every second or third drift was fish on. Last to fish around 630 were the most violent skrikes I had fly fishing. All fish were fat and healthy most were between 16 and 20 inchs. Talked to one fellow claimed he had cought 4 fish over 24 in the night before and a couple that over 24. Bottom line fishing was good. Diddnt get to sat night wife was a little upset I was 4 hours late comeing in.
  7. i was there there friday night from 1am to 630 or so and tore them up
  8. The family and I will be down there the weekend of the 4th. I plan on night fishing most of the time but am sure I will still hit some daytime hours as well. Is anyone sles going to be out and about this weekend? I havent looked at the weather yet so not sure on that part of the the weekend but I just figured that if its just rain those fish wont mind they are already wet.
  9. Just found out that we will be down there the weekend of the July 4 and 24
  10. Doc you must have just got there when I left. Leanord, Zander, and I were chating up in the parking lot till just before then. Left about the same time sat after talking to fly2fish up by the pavilion.
  11. Fishing was was great for me Friday night. Sat night seemed a little slow thought but with the storm coming in that knight and scared everyone off I bet the fish were laying down. Friday night at first I was throwing a pruple slumpbuster on 8lb line and doing well till one fish (never saw it but the seven weight rod hasnt bent that far yet) decided to he just wanted to keep it and a little line. After that I started throwing a sculpin pattern that I tied up a while back and landed a nice fish first cast and third cast. After that I was so happy I decide to call it a night on a good note. Sat night started off the bat throwing that sculpin thing and caught a few fish changed to a hibernaor(purple) and caught a few more till the lightning scared me off Saturday day was rediculous from the old big hole up to the dam. I have never seen so many people there before. At one point I think there were 15 people circled aroung rebar all throwing at the stick sticking out of the water. We never went down farther than that so not sure how crowded it was down there. Inlaws did OK during the day time useing some kind of black jig under a indicator. Ran into several forum members down there this weekend and it was nice meeting you all hope to do it again.
  12. The ones that are jerks are that way because we make them that way. From what what you said I didnt see anything jerky about it at all. Now if he gave you a ticket for parking in the wrong place with no signage you might have a complaint but for the most part sounds like he was just doing his job. Granted reading is different than hearing. That officer doesnt know who you, me, or most of the others he will encounter everyday. The questions he asks helps him decide what kind of person you are and IF you start to give him attitude he will give it right back. Now dont get me wrog there are some real jerky people out there the the foct of the matter is most of the jerks you will meet on the water are not officers but other fisherman. I say give the man a break and make his job easier. I would have ticked you for not haveing the lisence on you weather you were in the system or not ad Im not even an agent or officer
  13. Thats just because I'm going down to Tany this weekend. The corp finds out when I'm coming down and seeds the clouds so I cant fish. This is the second time in four weeks that I've made it down there and looks like there wil be no fishing this time either. Hopefully the airshow wont get washed out as well. (darn shouldnt have said that now it will for sure since I'm planning on going to it)
  14. rangerman The purple paint thing makes since but since most people I know dont have the slighest clue what that is. We have property in Jhonson county Mo and have had problems with poachers in the past purple paint doesnt stop bullets from the road. besides calling the law (which you said is covering a large area and the crime is done and gone by the time they get there) whats other steps a owner can do Legally to hold or delay the verman from leaveing till the law gets there?
  15. Just wait till you start tieing flys. Everything you see you will wonder how you can make a fly out of it. If you are still in te market cabelas, bass pro, and I'm sure that your local fly shop will have kits to get started for under 100 bucks
  16. I can forward you mine if you would like.
  17. I have a alum 17' white water(no keel). I have never had any problems with holes or leaks. Its light enough for me to carry by myself and so far it has never tipped. But I have never tried fishing out of it.
  18. I think there is a hat that he has for sale as well.
  19. Has anyone been fishing nights on the rock? If so any info would be great. Planning a trip down there next week (Apr 5 thru Apr 11) I see some daytime reports how does the night time differ besides being dark out and being cooler? Do the presentations and tackel change as well as the depth and areas to fish?
  20. definitions sportsman-person enjoying sport for the fun and love of it pro sportsman-person enjoying sport for money forgetting about the fun and love
  21. I was done there on Sunday for the opening day of snagging. I didnt report because there wasnt anything to report. Went down below 65 bridge and snagged half the day and caught nothing but stumps and rocks. After lunch went up into the slack water(it was all slack water they werent running anything) by the ramp and it was packed but nobody was catching very much. Saw a pair of guys fishing with seven poles. Is that legal we were haveing a debate in our boat about it? Didnt say anything or ask cause nobody was doing anygood. Saw those guys empty their live well and looked like 4 or 5 keeper crappie. To catch anything you had to have live bait(which we didnt) the fish are just too lathargic right now I guess. Was hopeing to get into some eyes but no luck. Did see some fish surfacing but couldnt tell what they were we were guessing they were those dang ole gar. Anyways give it a few weeks or wait till they are running some water. Im thinking maybe tomorrow if a person can find a real sunny bank with some cover he might do pretty well. Even if no fish are caught its better than work.
  22. There is a big sing on the shore where Fall Creek comes into the Lake you cant miss it.
  23. Make sure to tell the regs for the lake or to read the boards before she starts to fish. No bait or soft plastics above Fall Creek, Must have a trout stamp above 65 bridge, slot limit above fall creek of 12 and 20, only one brown and must be over 20. There are others but those are just the ones off the top of my head. Jigs are usually a good bet in the upper section (trophy area) small spinners, and rat traps, little cleos are also used a lot on spinning gear.
  24. 701 to 703 I would guess to be good wadeing. I would think 703 would be a pretty quick flow tho. I like the slow water but a lot of guys on here like fast moveing current. At 703 I would think you would have to be backed up close to the trees and since I dont know how to roll cast makes it difficult to fly fish like that.
  25. Im not from around there but I can tell you that Sunday it will probally be pretty busy down there
